Boxing IS all about levels, but while Ashley may never hold a world title, he is a typical hard working professional fighter who never gives less than 100% in the ‘ring, and is one of the many unheralded ‘pros who form the backbone of todays fight game. I always enjoy his articles, and would like to see him behind a microphone. Ashley should have the respect of every true boxing fan, he certainly has mine.

Not a big fan of his , but humble guy and great outlook on life. He’ll do good in his life after boxing which unfortunately is not too common among pro fighters at his level.

Good story I hope he gets there, like other have said just to be a professional boxer is an achievement in itself. 36 wins I would have taken that.

Theophane lost a split decision to Danny Garcia in 2010, so he fared better than most of Garcia’s opponents (including Amir Khan, TKO – 4).
judge: Gerardo Venzor 94-96 | judge: Raul Valencia 94-95 | judge: Levi Martinez 95-94

It always makes me laugh when people talk about fighters like Theophane being a glorified sparring partner and being of a certain level. Let me tell you as someone who has boxed a bit a guy with 36 professional victories is an exceptional talent with unbelievable fitness and conditioning. Only in boxing do fans slate anyone who has had a few losses.

It is obvious that Ashley is quite intelligent, and he will have a life worth leading once his career is finished. Thanks for an enjoyable article.

There are obvious levels in boxing, Ashley is good and a hard worker but not at the same level as any of the champions he wants to dethrone. I can’t see him winning a world title but fair play for making a good living out of a tough career.

This dude Theophane talks more than he fights…he’s a glorified sparring partner for the team Mayeather camp

Not big on Ashley. Not that good to me. He is to stiff, not very fluid. He may get 40 wins but not against the greatest of comp.
