Can’t blame Groves for taking this one, if he’s guaranteed to be put in as No.1 contender. Its a bit like going on quick date with an ugly girl, as long as you are on a promise later that week with a stunner if you do.

Hamster…, You’re an idiot boy. Groves wouldn’t have a chance with Abraham.

GG is all chin and done after 5 or 6 rounds … All you have to do after that is apply consistent pressure, and beat the living shlt out of him.. Because he can’t clinch for crap, he has no ring sense or sense of pace … and his footwork sucks to the quasars.

He one of the easiest guys to hit ever seen at the world championship level… Andre Berto you say??? Berto is bad… but EGAD!

junior lies his ass off with.., “TARK you were hyping Groves big time after his first fight with Froch so stop talking sh1t”

STFU IDIOT!!! I said Groves was one of the worst boxers I’d ever seen at this level… I panned his stance… I criticized his footwork… I critiqued his bunny hop around the ring… I hammered his lack of clinching skills… and I predicted Froch would knock him TF out.

So shut your stupid lying assface junior

KAREEM ABDUL-JABAAR

There is not one big name on Rebrasse CV, and the majority of his fights have been in France, if Groves does not KO him inside 8 he should retire. This guy is not in Groves’ league.

I heard through the grape vine that Groves brutalised both Dirrell boys in sparring last year. If its true I can’t see Anthony risking a fight with GG

beyond laughable.

I can see Dirrell derailing Bika via points decision & Groves taking Rebrasse by KO thus lining up something in the USA by the end of the year.

“Groves should have stuck to the WBC route in the 1st place. He was #1 mandatory contender & would have taken out Sakio Bika therefore lining up a 50% split for the Carl Froch fight.” – Agreed. Bika’s a tough SOB but he’s too slow for Groves, who would’ve outboxed him. Can’t criticize his guts though, he went after Froch when he had an easier route. Props.

Only in boxing today could a guy who gets knocked out twice in a row receive a “final eliminator” bout. He lost to the second best 168 pound fighter and he hopes to get a shot at a belt with the third best “champion” by fighting a light-hitting, clearly not world class opponent? What a world we live in.

another hype job sniffing his way back to a plastic title.

Posted July 9, 2014 10:50 am

Hahaha Bika smashes the weak chinned and mentally fragile Groves. Bika gave Calzaghe fits and Groves doesn’t have the talent of Calzaghes little finger.

Groves should have stuck to the WBC route in the 1st place. He was #1 mandatory contender & would have taken out Sakio Bika therefore lining up a 50% split for the Carl Froch fight. He’s young enough the be the #1 @ 168Lb given time, but it’s going to take time.

I consider that I follow boxing fairly closely but I’ve no idea who this Rebrasse fellow is so I guess I expect Groves to take care of business and then get a world title shot at the end of this year or the beginning of 2015. After the first fight with Froch, George looked like he could compete with just about anyone in the SMW division but he wasn’t nearly so effective in the re-match so I think it’ll be interesting to see how he goes over the next year or so. As a Brit I hope he does well as Froch is clearly nearing the end of his career so hopefully the likes of Groves and DeGale can keep flying the flag for the British SMW’s!!

Turb0-H@mster..

You`re so silly TARK. Groves damned near knocked out the iron chinned, proven world level fighter Carl Froch in one round.

Dirrell, Kessler have spoken very highly of him from sparring.

You could say people are overrating him, going a little over th top. But you are so silly billy silly that you say he`s one of the worst to challenge for a title.

Hell he`s better than a lot of turd that has held world titles like Berto.

He`s better than Current titleholders in the division like Bika and Abraham.

Why do you say such silly things you silly old silly billy?

@ Tommy toupee.., I wouldn’t mind seeing Groves-Bute… Two inept and tentative guys doing a pillow fight like Peter Manfredo vs Andy Lee.

Salvador Sanchez said it motivated him to watch guys who can’t fight well. Both fighters who bore the audience to death – and fighters thrilled the audience but paid for it by getting hit a lot – because the last thing he wanted to be was anything like them.

This fight is for Euro SMW title and a WBC eliminator, fair play to groves, if he wins he’s right back in the SMW division mix. If he loses he’s back to being a domestic nobody.

Posted July 8, 2014 10:08 pm

Tommy Toupee

It’s a bit out there but would anyone like to see Groves v Bute? IMO it would be a good comeback fight after defeating this guy

Posted July 8, 2014 8:08 pm

WHAT!?!

Groves is chinny. Everyone who knew anything before the 1st Froch fight was saying it. So now this flawed, whiner takes on the big powder puff punching Frenchie with 5 KO. Groves is a joke and should realise he limitations are at Domestic level.

Posted July 8, 2014 5:58 pm

TARK

Groves doesn’t need to regain his confidence. He needs to learn how to box. He’s one of the worst 21st Century boxers I’ve seen in a world title fight of this importance and global interest.

Not his speed, power, toughness, or endurance… His skills and mental equipment

Posted July 8, 2014 5:44 pm

Lmfao groves got ko in his last 2 fights and in he wins he gets another shot at a world title unbelievable that shows boxing is fixed ward is the king of that division

Posted July 8, 2014 5:04 pm

Good to see Groves is getting back on the horse without taking a long vacation. Sooner he notches a couple wins the sooner he can regain his confidence.

Posted July 8, 2014 4:02 pm

@ Hmmmm. I completely agree he definitely has the the tools to be a top fighter but he needs to fight this guy and then 2-3 top 15 guys before jumping back into a title fight he has time on his side so I don’t know what the rush is

Expected more from George? He just got knocked the F**k out! What did you expect? Him straight back in with a top level fighter? To be fair boxrec have Rebrasse at 17th in the Supermiddle rankings so even though he aint a household name he’s not the worst fighter they could have picked for a comeback fight after such a back KO. Putting it in perspective Danny Garcia is fighting someone who is ranked 78th! Whilst Lamont Petterson is fighting someone ranked 66th. Both of these are world title fights!

Posted July 8, 2014 8:41 am

Hmmmm

Groves needs to round his skills out – he’s undoubtedly got a lot to offer but forget about world titles for a while.
