Well anonymous, that’s kind of my point – Devolution.

The sun will burn out… It will vaporize Earth billions of years ahead of its burnout — when hit goes into its “red giant” phase.

The universe will keep dispersing outward until it devolves into nothingness. These are things man didn’t know 200 years ago but we know now.

On a macro scale, in the physical realm, there are no perpetual motion machines. Not engine, not microbe, not plant, not man, not star, not galaxy, not universe.

So the being who created our sun, our planet, and everything seen and unseen in the physical realm – must have a plan that goes beyond mere physical existence. Why would he bother if his creation soon returns to dust? That wouldn’t make any sense.

However, the physical realm will endure long enough to serve God’s purposes.

hibdeebibdee says.., “Where did God come from? How did his being come to be? Has he always existed? How is that possible?”

Simple… 1st, God always was and always will be — 2nd, How is anything possible?

For instance.., People asked, “How is it possible the sun keeps heating and lighting Earth after billions of years of existence? It seems to burn bright and hot enough to burn out in a few minutes? That was a question that troubled the famous Renaissance mathematician and astronomer Copernicus. He couldn’t figure out what fuel source could possibly keep the sun going that long without diminishing its size. Man knew very little about nuclear physics in those days and were confounded by this question for centuries.

There are things man on Earth won’t understand for thousands of years… Do we really NEED to understand everything God knows??? We’d love to know. We’re extremely curious creatures. But we can live without it.

Obviously there’s no evidence of design in well evolved species..

Try to make a mechanical bird that can fly as well as a humming bird. Easy as pie. Or make a mechanical fish that can swim as fast as a sailfish (70 mph). No problem. There are thousands of species of fish—but you would tell me they were all produced by natural selection and mutations. There are thousands of creatures at the bottom of the ocean, but you would say they are all the product of evolution… Lions, tigers, bears, horses, asses, trout and basses all got here mysteriously by natural selection and evolution. No intelligence was needed to create them – and down to their last inticate boson they’re a fluke of the universe.

You believe no intelligent being created the sun. The sun would destroy us if our orbit were 5 million miles closer to it – but we could not exist for even one second without it’s heat. We’d be ice crystals instantly without the warmth of the sun… but I guess you think it’s poorly designed because it causes it causes electronic interference from time to time… If God really existed we could just show a steak to the sun – it would cook it instantly by concentrating a few of its rays on it… Why didn’t God think of that?

But many people are too arrogant to acknowledge a creator.

Did you know about the outside world when you were in the womb??? Did you know all about galaxies and super novas when you were 6 years old??? Don’t you think it’s possible that you just haven’t found God yet??? That you’ve simply closed you mind off to the possibility of God, and that could change???

My brother fell away from the church and became an agnostic later in life. He told me, “I don’t believe in God anymore. God is a fable mankind has been brainwashed into believing.” This was after he retired.. A year later he got cancer and a few months later he died.. A few days before he died he asked for Extreme Unction.. I was shocked at his change of heart, but very happy.. He seemed jovial and never complained once after that.

The 30 or 40 closest relatives had no discussion with him about God or religion. We didn’t want to argue with him, upset him, or disturb him in his poor health. We just prayed for him. He received the last rights, confession, and communion.. Just before he died he said he felt very peaceful and overjoyed. He said, “I’ll see you folks later in Heaven” and died.

You probably think he was only fooling himself. He only believed because he was dying. You had to be there and see his tranquil experssion and appearance, then you’d know.

You are saying things evolved then saying they were designed.

These things are mutually exclusive.

One is random mutations either succeeding or not because they are suited to the environment.

One is the design of something and it`s environment.

If evolution were directed, then almost all mutations would be positive, which is not the case, the vast majority serve no purpose, or are actively damaging.

To take an example of wolves/dogs. It took just 4-5,000 years of selective breeding for humans to go from having a relatively few species of wolves, wild dogs and so on, to having dogs as diverse as a tiny chihuaha and a massive great Leonburger, from having grey coats to dalmation spots and so on.

So where there IS known design, there is massive variety in a short space of time. Prior to that without directed evolution, it took millions of years for really quite minor changes in canines.

If Evolution could be described as design in any way it is as an environment designing the species that live on it.

And out environments have simply behaved according to the laws of physics.

It all circles back to the big bang.
Someone says “something caused the bug bang” I say I agree.

SOmeone says something intelligent caused the big bang, I don`t. There isnt intelligence necessary, and anything we do posit with intelligence just deflects the question of what created that intelligence.

If people want to say god is eternal, I can equally well say that various forms of the universe are eternal, and I am at the advantage since I at least am talking about something we can all see exists.

Posted July 3, 2014 4:38 pm

If death really is the end, then why on earth are people scared to die? It is the fact that there is an after life and atonement for our sins that scares the heck out of people.

Why on earth are people scared to die if there is eternal nothingness? To me that makes no sense at all.

“Only God, Heaven, the angles, and humankind are eternal.”

What if someone proposed:

“God” will exist only as long as humans do. There is no “Heaven” and there is no “Hell”–except in the minds of those who believe in their existence. On the whole, humans are incredibly afraid of death. So, they have created an afterlife in which they will come back to life and live forever.

There are no angels anymore than there are vampires or zombies or any other demonic entities. There is no “Devil.” Satan is a product of the human mind.

Man needs something (and someone) bigger than himself to rely on. “God”, religion and spirituality fulfill that need.

Questions: Where did God come from? How did his being come to be? Has he always existed? How is that possible? Or are we not supposed to ask those questions? Because we don’t, and never will have the answers?

People breed race horses to develop faster horses.. You could call that evolution on a small scale.. Basically the breeders are trying to design a horse.

Africans… Anglos… Slavs… American Indians… Chinese… and Eskimos all evolved various facial, hair, skin color, and physique characteristics. A grand designer was behind that.

Rainbows… Saturn’s rings… sunsets… geysers… rain forests… waterfalls… trees… rivers… trees… gazelles… cheetahs… mountains… valleys… flowers… tropical birds… tropical fish… clouds… a grand designer was behind all of that… You don’t get life by accident… You don’t even get it on purpose—if smart humans are working diligently on it for 1000 years … instead of somebody divinely intelligent.

Posted July 3, 2014 2:59 am

The Earth can`t be said to be evolving since it isn`t producing offspring which are then subject to selection pressures.

The conditions on the planet have changed massively over time though and will continue to do so, but the process isn`t evolution even if people misappropriate evolution to mean gradual change in anything.

Posted July 3, 2014 12:58 am

So if the human body evolved it wasn`t designed then

Posted July 3, 2014 12:53 am

Evolution exists. Evolution occurs on a micro scale. Not on a macro scale. The Earth, the solar system, and the universe are not evolving. There is a finite life to the sun and everything under the sun. There is a finite life to the universe and everything therein.

Only God, Heaven, the angles, and humankind are eternal.

Ebola – that’s beautiful. Malaria too. And parasitic wasps that lay their eggs in caterpillars so the larvae eat the still living host – but in the particular order of organs that keeps it alive and fresh.

Posted July 2, 2014 11:56 pm

Most of what you see in the world is beautiful… The ugly part is man’s doing. There’s no Heaven on Earth – but there’s also no Hell on Earth. Through sin and disobedience: corruption, disease, pestilence, war, famine, ruin, and death came into the world. Such are the wages of original sin.

The unfortunate are here to try their fortitude and courage in the face of suffering… The fortunate are here to search their kindness and generosity in the face of the less fortunate.

Death comes to everyone alike… The rich… the poor… the healthy… the sick… believers… non-believers… the fortunate… the unfortunate… We’re all equal in death

But some people die peacefully because they’ve led a holy life… Some are terrified because they fear eternal judgment merited by their iniquity.

God puts the awareness of his presence in the hearts of man – or humankind if you like. Man innately realizes he’s autonomous… He has the freedom to deny God if he likes.

Talking about God’s preference for the beautiful as circular thinking denies the natural beauty of the Earth and the cosmos. A glimpse of what God intended for man when he first created the Earth, and before the fall of Adam and Eve, still resides in nature.

Though the eye has not seen… nor has the ear heard… nor has it entered into the thoughts of man, what Heaven holds for those who love their Creator.

Sredmond designed Sredmond. We’re all free to form our minds and hearts.

Posted July 2, 2014 11:39 pm

Would god design SREDMOND????

Posted July 2, 2014 10:08 pm

So you accept that evolution occurred?

That complicated life evolved from simple?

In which case it didn`t need to be designed. It evolved.

This beauty argument is circular too. There is a LOT of ugly stuff in the world, both in the aesthetic sense and the mental – war, poverty, parasites, disease, tsunami’s etc.

Why would anyone design a world where a baby is born with HIV and a heroin addiction because of it’s addict mothers habit?

Posted July 2, 2014 7:38 pm

How about this scenario where God doesn’t exist?

If there were a bunch of ungainly looking objects suspended in space. There wouldn’t have to be anybody who put them there. They’re just a bunch of lifeless, misshapen junk cluttering up space, nobody made the objects. But you’d have to examine them to be sure.

Are the objects stationary or moving? Are they changing in any way? Are they emitting heat or light? How big are they? What are the objects made out of? Are they illuminated? If they can be seen what color are they? Do they have a symmetrical, artistic, or interesting shape? If you have positive answers to those questions somebody likely made the things.

But if there’s no rhyme or reason to them, and they’re just pieces of space junk with no seeming purpose, maybe nobody made them. Maybe those objects always were. That way they didn’t have to be made. They always existed, strewn about space.

In that case, God wouldn’t exist.

But for that scenario to be factual, no intelligent onlooker could be aware of it. If God didn’t exist we wouldn’t be here to talk about it.

Hamster says.., “In fact when we find that the quantum world below atoms, is comprised of yet more particles which behave in non intuitive ways, some of which are frankly bizarre, then you cite THAT as evidence of design because it is so complicated.

There is quite simply no state the world could be in that you WOULDN`T cite as evidence of design.”

That’s not true Hamster… There are many… For example: If the entire expanse of existence were comprised of endless, black, empty, space, stretching out forever and ever – that would be one very compelling piece of evidence to me that God did not exist.. If nothing existed but cold, black, empty, endless space, how could God exist?

I’m not a creationist. Don’t label me. I simply look around in awe at my surroundings. I see things that are very interesting… Items that took tons of thought and ingenuity to bring into existence… The sun… the moon… the stars… Earth… animals… reproductive capacities… edible plants… photosynthesis… water… dirt… gold… platinum… uranium… jewels… fabrics… the silk worm… a playful butterfly… a couple of coyotes who stop and stare at me with curiosity from 20 feet away… a doe who walks into my camping area and gawks at me for a few seconds as I drink my coffee … before trotting off.

I look at my body. I certainly didn’t make myself. I’m a wonderful machine that can be fueled by simple meals – and supplies enormous productivity for the amount of upkeep.. I’m curious as to why nature is so beautiful and well designed.. There are a few ugly things like warthogs – but the vast majority of creation is beautiful.. The beauty and designs you see aren’t always functional—but still there… We don’t need the northern lights… We don’t need sunset to be gorgeous… Saturn doesn’t need to have beautiful colorful rings… Rainbows don’t need to be so beautiful…

Whoever made everything prefers beautiful things – and created a few ugly things just to provide a bit of variety so we don’t get bored.

If anything exists that has a physical form… has physical properties… emits light… produces energy… moves quickly or slowly… has life… shows evidence of design… where did it originally come from??? … Obviously you have been curious about such things.

Something or somebody had to put things into existence and motion… Things don’t simply pop into existence and begin their regular routine… There’s an origin you can trace. Existence had to start somewhere.. If it was the Big Bang—that didn’t happen by itself.

“Unlucky for who????”

This is my point. There is nooone is the other galaxies because conditions weren`t favourable. You would only expect life to evolve in the rare galaxy that will allow it.

So it is lucky that life is there – it is inevitable that it developed there.

The “Just so” argument is lazy, tired and has been dismissed numerous times.

A beach isn`t formed because all the sand grains get together at the same time and form a beach. The natural process of water eroding a certain stone creates the grains and then their properties mean they`ll tend to stick together. So it is with many simple biological molecules.

Re rhythms, brains, weather patters – all those things developed gradually over massive timescales, you can find evidence of their development and the ongoing changes.

Do you actually believe they were design AS THEY ARE. Do you know how poorly some of these things are “designed”? Appendix? Rods/cones in eye being back to front, vestiigial tail, head size evolving faster than birth canal etc?

Are you actually a literal creationist – you believe that humans were designed and placed on Earth as they are, unrelated to evolution and other animals? Because if you are then there is no basis for discussion.

On your talk about subatomic particles – this is always a whoooo mystical area pseudoscientists retreat to to try to sound clever without having any clarity of thought or understanding about what they are discussing.

IF protons, electrons, and neutrons were the smallest particles, and behaved perfectly logically, you would cite it as evidence of design BECAUSE it is beautifully simple, looks designed, makes sense – and as as the often misunderstood Einstein quote goes “God doesn`t play dice with the world”.

In fact when we find that the quantum world below atoms, is comprised of yet more particles which behave in non intuitive ways, some of which are franlkly bizarre, then you cite THAT as evidence of design because it is so complicated.

There is quite simply no state the world could be in that you WOULDN`T cite as evidence of design.

That’s much more unlikely than your mansion being blown together by the wind.”

Really Tark? You still haven’t explained or proven that anything was a product of “Creation.” The Creation theory is only plausible because man wants it to be. Prove me to be wrong. The Bible says something like “God created man in his image.” Makes sense. Man created God in his image.

Posted July 1, 2014 10:38 am

Hamster says.., “You have to look at all the places life couldn`t evolve and say “oh unlucky” … WTF Unlucky for who???

First off… Snowflakes are simple designs… The human brain, DNA, human reproductive organs and systems, our cardio vascular system, our central nervous system, the various ways flowers are pollinated, our circadian rhythm, the intricacies of Earth’s atmosphere, and thousands of other designs in nature are much more complex.

So… in your concept, since there are billions of galaxies and trillions of stars. We are lucky enough to be in a place (Earth) where, by pure luck, the billions of favorable conditions exist for life to spark into existence, and transform and evolve according to the theory of natural selection.

This theory minimizes the complexity of life, matter, and energy. Over time micro evolution takes place within a species—but by including more species and longer time frames evolution quickly breaks down. Species become weaker biologically. The sun grows into a red giant and vaporizes Earth. We lose the moon as it drifts slowly away. The Earth’s rotation falters, etc.

And your thesis begs the question: what about the intricacies of subatomic physics??? Electrons spinning 9 billion times per second and particles like bosons existing that we cannot begin to understand—even with the assistance of massive atom smashers and electron microscopes. If intricate subatomic structures break down in certain ways we unleash catastrophic nuclear explosions — or if subatomic structures are interfered with in another way, we would experience compression akin to a massive black hole where the solar system gets squished into a teeny speck. Fortunately these structures are very stable, infinitesimally small, and extremely difficult for us to mess with. Not that we don’t try.

Scientists are beginning to find how intricate matter is, and grasp how to use nuclear fusion (the power of the sun) as an infinite energy source. Nuclear fission has left us with byproducts with half-life radiation hazards that will last 1000’s of generations. In your view nobody designed subatomic structures to be what they are – that complexity just happened. Just like the supremely well designed human body just arrived here by chance.

That’s much more unlikely than your mansion being blown together by the wind.

Posted July 1, 2014 7:47 am

Don`t be ridiculous.

Lots of intricate things “just happen”. Look at a snowflake.

The universe and your mansion are not a valid comparison, since the universe displays precisely zero indicators of having been designed.

Life will only evolve in the favourable conditions. It`s ridiculous to look at it having evolved in the rare favourable place and say “ooohh how lucky”. You have to look at all the places it couldn`t evolve and say “oh unlucky”.

This whole random stuff completely misunderstands evolutionary theory too. Genentic shuffling and mutation can be random, but the selection pressure on them are NOT.

Posted July 1, 2014 4:15 am

For the same reason that if you were wearing a particularly sharp looking and well tailored suit… and stepped out of a particularly beautiful and smooth driving Rolls-Royce… and stepped into a particularly expansive and well appointed mansion with tennis courts, swimming pool, 8 car garage, and spectacular view… I would know that those possessions didn’t just blow in with the wind, allowing you to say.., “Oh lucky me… Look what I found.”

Somebody designed and made those things. Nothing intricate just happens.

No-one designed all that stuff. Why on earth would you think anyone did?

Posted June 30, 2014 11:45 pm

Hamster predicts God doesn’t exist

That should be fun for you on judgment day Hamster.

So who in your opinion who created our sun, which supplies us with light, heat, energy, and gravity? Who put up the moon with such meticulous precision? Who comprised Earth’s atmosphere and designed photosynthesis? What man has ever created the simplest life form out of all the elements of life? I mean, man didn’t create any of the elements. That would be impossible for man as well—but IF somebody SUPPLIED the thousand smartest scientists with all the basic elements of life, and asked them to create the simplest form of life … they couldn’t do it.

So far as we know, no other planet has ever produced anything alive, even a plant or microbe. But we not only have a temperate climate on Earth, we lucked out by having a moon that regulates our rotation, supplies the tides, provides counter forces that the Earth needs for it’s orbital path around our sun. Plus we majically have an atmosphere and soil content that will support human life. We’ve been pretty damned lucky if there’s no God — since a million fortuitous things happened just right, like fairy dust blowing together to accidently create a Swiss watch.

I didn’t think Gamboa won the first 4 rounds, I had 2 to 2 after 4. But Gamboa was quicker than Crawford and that was why he won the first 4 rounds on who ever gave those rounds to him. But once Crawford got his time it was all over.

Posted June 30, 2014 7:21 pm

Crawford gave Gamboa the BUSINESS!!!

For anyone saying “he was too big”, if that were the case, how did Gamboa win the first 4 rounds? He looked mighty fast and seemed to have Crawford puzzled….what happened was called “making adjustments”, which is what Crawford did and after the 4th, that boy went to WORK!

Posted June 30, 2014 6:59 pm

jrock – You have to remember WHO Crawford beat, I mean, if anyone had a crap ton of bandwagon-ers hop on his jock after a decent win was Ruslan, the guy beat up Alvarado and he was called “a beast” and then went out to get outBOXED by Algieri.

Crawford beat an undefeated Gamboa who many considered the more talented and more explosive fighter…and you say “he belongs at 140″, if he can make the weight, he can fight….better than this “catch weight” crap that a lot of fighters do when they outgrow a division but still wanna compete in it.

Good win for Crawford but in reality he had all the advantages. Height, reach, size and hometown crowd. Gamboa could’ve won this fight if he kept his hands up. All of the knock downs were because Gamboa didn’t have his hands up. His biggest flaw. Crawford vs Garcia is the fight that should happen. Crawford can be a star if he continues to progress.

Gamboa can’t make 126 lets get real , he was 145 fight night lowest he is going is 130… That said he did what ALOT of boxers have done including Marquez and Pacquiao he moved up and booked a loss… That’s boxing for you!

Posted June 30, 2014 1:20 pm

Good win for Crawford but if you were watching that fight and didn’t think for one second to yourself that those two didn’t belong in the ring together then your not really looking hard enough. Crawford belongs at 140 and Gamboa at 126. No excuse because gamboa signed the fight and both fighters made weight, but I saw a Crawford that wasn’t to hard to hit and won the fight slugging. If you don’t think that can catch up to him with guys like mythysse, D. Garcia, and many other punchers at 140 then I don’t think your being honest with yourself. Im not saying he is not gonna be any good when he goes up in weight but these are things I see that have to be fixed and im not gonna jump on the band wagon just yet. Remember the people pushing Crawford are probably the same people that get on other fighters for beating up on blown up fighters from weights beneath them….

Gamboa never really looked comfortable dating back to his televised debut years ago the same can be said for every other Cuban in boxing that was a hyped prospect. For some reason they get to live in the modern world and change. So far the only success story is for the sport of baseball and he may yet to blow that. The citizens of Cuba have been suppressed for decades…easy to understand why

I agree with some of the comments. I’m atheist but even I can’t see how any god would be for or against a certain fighter. I doubt a god would be taking the time to bless a fighter, especially it means not doing the same for his opponent.

lets see how crawford chin holds up when he gets hit by a big lightweight.

i think Jesus ‘god’ Christ vs Muhamad “the Prophet” would box to a really technical 12 rnd draw, shame, it wont happen, bit like FMW and PAC both have heaps of fanatical followers that believe !! sorry miss interpreted info earlier and posted incorrect info . Here Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Crawford was the fight !!!!! go Crawf.

Double header in Terence Crawford vs Mike Tyson and
Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Lennox lewis is this true?

V. Khmil

The Cuban displayed poor skills. As a boxing coach, I wanted to cry.

I will show video of Gamboa to my students and give instruction – “don`t do like the monkey”.

enough already

Gamboa was too light for Manny besides it looks like he fought a dumb fight last night these guys were slugging it out with no defense until somebody dropped it looked very non skilled or technical very amateurish…

Posted June 29, 2014 4:24 pm

And they said gamboa would give pacquaio a fight lol

Posted June 29, 2014 4:05 pm

Tyson didn’t care about being champ again, he needed the money.

Posted June 29, 2014 3:36 pm

It wasnt the height or reach differential that won Crawford that fight, it was simply Crawford its the more patient, intelligent, disciplined fighter.Gamboa has discarded half of what he was taught through laziness.Crawford was crafty, patient and picked his shots well.Congrats Terrence

The Prince,

Lewis used his reich nothing to do with height

Posted June 29, 2014 2:28 pm

The Prince

People forget that Tyson demanded the fight with Lewis so he could try to become a three time HW Champion. Tyson harassed, threatened, and even attacked Lewis during the build up. Lewis kicked Tyson’s ass using his height and boxing IQ. Prime or not, Lewis proved himself in that fight.

The Prince

A fight so good, I want to see it again in a rematch, but Crawford ultimately dominated Gamboa, so no need for a rematch. Crawford is now a star. Let’s see what he does with it.

I believe Crawford and Mickey Garcia would be a classic as well.

TARK has overtaken BOXTRA as the greatest fight prophet of all time

Posted June 29, 2014 1:26 pm

Tyson was a phenom honestly

Posted June 29, 2014 1:13 pm

you could see…

Posted June 29, 2014 1:11 pm

lol@Gr33nFather, that’s true too, in all probability Tyson was probably the exception, but not the rule. He definitely had that formula to enable him to defy the odds and make quick work of anyone (including taller fighters). Strength, agility, deceptive speed and defense. Not to mention that intangible fear factor, lol. If he had better stamina, he would’ve truly been ridiculously scary.

Posted June 29, 2014 1:04 pm

when Tyson was hitting the heavybag you could the bag being afraid too lol

Posted June 29, 2014 1:00 pm

Lewis was one that knew how to handle Tyson, when their fight started he jumped out the cage against Lewis and Lewis just weathered the storm with a telephone pole jab and hard right hands. That slowed Tyson down quick.

Posted June 29, 2014 1:00 pm

its hard not to be afraid of a guy who destroyed every sparring partners and other big tough guy in the ring lol

Posted June 29, 2014 12:59 pm

Also, not to take anything away from Tyson, he was fun to watch, but 90% of the time his opponents were already shook when they stepped into the ring with him. They would beat themselves mentally before they could even get into the fight.

Posted June 29, 2014 12:57 pm

@Gr33nFather – I don’t know man, we’re gonna have to agree to disagree on that one. In my opinion, a good small fighter will almost always get beaten by an equally good tall fighter as we saw last night with two good fighters. The smaller man can incorporate all the head movement that he wants but if the taller fighter is just as slick, then that smaller fighter is in trouble.

Posted June 29, 2014 12:55 pm

lol@Gr33nFather – I totally feel you on that, the irony that a fighter is thanking god for helping him beat somebody (in some cases to a bloody pulp) is comical.

Posted June 29, 2014 12:53 pm

lol Tyson use to destroy taller fighters all his career, height is not an advantage when you fight inside

Posted June 29, 2014 12:52 pm

Its funny when fighters are saying: “Thank god blablabla” I’m sorry to say to you that god will never help you in the ring, please stop that

Posted June 29, 2014 12:38 pm

Credit to both fighters for giving the fans an exciting fight, and congratulations to Crawford for a good solid win. BUT, after watching last night’s fight, and countless other tall guy vs short guy fights (Klitschko vs Sam Peter, Lewis vs Tyson, Big daddy vs Holyfield, Cotto vs Trout to name a few), does it make sense to ask if Boxing should probably include a height limitation for fights? For example, a 5’4″ featherweight can’t be matched up with anyone taller than 5′ 6″. I know that one of the repercussions should that rule be in place would be that certain fights would never happen (last night’s for example). But with the ambiguous advantage/disadvantage, would an almost one sided fight as such even be worth watching??? Just food for thought

Just as I predicted! !!!!! I am the GREATEST Fight Prophet ever born! !!!!
