Part of the may Vinci code is that he never fights outside of Vegas where the judges/commission/refs all have an interest in protecting Floyd and keeping the charade going. If floyd were to fight in San Antonio like Broner he would get his ass laid out. Broner tried to clinch Maidana in Mayweather fashion. But the ref didn’t come to Broners rescue like Vegas refs do for Floyd. Get a ref in there that will make Floyd fight out of the clinches and not break him up and watch floyd get broken down. If the ref never gives the Latin fighter a chance to work on he inside of course he is going to lose.

Manny beat Oscar, Cotto, Mosely and Hatton. All after Floyd his lefts overs but when Floyd beat these same guys there were cherry picked? How can they be cherry picked for one and not the other? I mean these are supposed to be the p4p best Floyd and Manny right? Floyd beat Oscar, and Cotto at 154 not 147 like pacroid either. Poor pactards who make excuses when Floyd wins like they were cherry picked or Marquez and Miadana is too small for Floyd? But there are the same size as Manny who Floyd is supposed to be scared of right? Or better yet they make excuses why Manny lost like C.J. Ross cheated him and Marquez was juiced up and got lucky. Ass clowns Manny is nothing without the juice he is a average Joe.

Any opponent picked by the Money Team is picked for a reason. My guess is, that is why Alvarez was picked when he picked, after showing serious stamina issues during the Trout fight. Maidana, like Khan were on the table for clear reasons. Maidana has little chance of winning unless he catches PBF flush but I doubt he has the speed to do it. PBF will see his punches coming a mile away.

Sweet Science – from your points about Floyd, many apply to pac too, eg: cherrypicked same fighters in JMM, Mosley,ODH,Hutton, Cotto. Pac has problems with slick urban style boxers so ” picks ” on mostly brawlers, Rios, Margarito, Clottey,Diaz, Hutton, Cotto, MAB, JMM, Ledwaba. Dude had boxers fighting on catchweights they hadn’t done in over 10yrs (ODH), other catchweights Cotto, Margarito. Bob even baught him a bogus title vs Margo.

Maidana was hand poicked by little floyd. Maidana has -0- chance against little floyd.

Posted March 31, 2014 4:04 pm

Mike Tyson

maidana has shorter arms, but he has busy counter punches that work to find your face in the 2-4 punch that over hand right will find Floyd a few times. Floyd can take maidana out off him unless he can get maidana respect in dropping him early. But that out, if that happen it will be after the middle rounds,

So Floyd will have to contend with maidana coming forward swinging, jabbing and Turning him, and a few straight left and right would have to work. Floyd should beat maidana 4-1 unless he get a flush shot. Paulie got through maidanam, alexalander too. So Floyd should breeze through this fight or he slipping back. Floyd has too much advantages in this fight.

Corto I guess Floyd cherry picked undefeated fighters ? Tell me who is more dangerous than Canelo right now? Who cherry picks champions? I guess he is scared of Manny that’s why he offered him 40 million to fight back in 09. Miadana just came off a huge win and is destroying fighters I guess he is cherry picked too. Its funny how ass clowns say Floyd is cherry picking when Manny beat all of the same guys and to add insult to injury after Floyd already beat them and they weren’t cherry picked when Manny beat them. Poor tards to think Manny is the only one worthy of Floyd I guess Rios was a good fighter if he wasn’t hand picked I don’t know who is. Manny got KTFO by a old flat footed Mexican Marquez they same guy Floyd walked all over gives Manny the blues every time…

Sweet Science

He gets credit for rematching Jose Louis Castillo after he knows he lost that first one. He gets credit for beating Corrales. He has to have almost every advantage before fighting anyone. He has fear of losing and it works to his advantage. Win or lose who cares, fight the best get respect, thats the true legacy of a fighter fighting the best and you will be known as the best. Stop cherry picking its sad.

Posted March 31, 2014 1:19 pm

Sweet Science

Floyd is a great boxer no doubt he has the speed and skills to shut out brawlers, slower fighters, fighters that come forward. He has problems with the fighters that possess speed, throw alot of punches and the rellentless pressure fighters. He studies all fighters in his weight division and ducks certain fighters. Pacman has the speed footwork, high output, stamina, Floyd doesnt want anything to do with that guy. Khan also has speed and a high output, fearless. Floyd wants to wait and see what Khan looks like before he takes that fight. Floyd is slick hes not fooling anyone but himself when its all said and done he will be known as a cherry picker. Hes ducked so many fighters its sad and funny. He ducked Delahoya and Mosley in there primes, ducked Margarito, Sergio Martinez, Pacman, Timothy Bradley and now he ducks Khan.

TARK, the hypocrite says “Floyd’s fights with Cotto, Mosley, and Judah were actually quite interesting… His fight with Canelo was like watching paint dry… That’s becaue Saul was weight drained and did little except pose… He didn’t have the strength to do anything else.”
Funny now Canelo had nearly 30 hours to rehydrate his 23 year old body back up to weight and he gives him excuse for that but BERATES SRR for not being able to carry himself through 103 heat in muggy New York, where not only the referee had to be carried from the ring and replaced but dozens of people gained ringside due to the astonishing heat. SRR subsequently retired for 31 months.
But, NO. The great KNOWALL TARK has declared that fighting through 103 degree heat is obviously easier than only having 30 hours to rehydrate your 23 year old body back to weight.
He doesn’t factor in that Chavez Jnr drops far more weight than Canelo and rehydrates back up to 30 pounds in the same 39 hour period. So, let’s all now down to KING TARK.
Let’s all agree with TARK that SRR, Hagler, Leonard, Hearns, Benitez and Ali etc should not be in the Hall of Fame and let’s instead replace them with Fury,Wilder, Lara, Canelo as they obviously have had it far tougher than these old school oldies!!! LMFAO

SO when Floyd embarrasses Maidana stupid HATERS are going to say he was cherry-picked and not on the same level as Mayweather.

Damn this boy is exceptional; easy win.

Floyd and Hopkins are cut from the same cloth. Just like Ward they all put out non exciting fights. Take the fight out by stalling ( clinching ) in fact if there not running there clinching all three of them. Bore bore and more boring . The best thing that can happen is Madiana knocking out Mayweather cold.

Posted March 31, 2014 3:03 am

Tark Floyd stayed in the pocket with Cotto and Canelo and they still couldn’t hit him. Boring? Well he is not a KO artist so you have to understand the sweet science to appreciate it the key is to hit and not get hit. You want excitement go and watch the Mexicans slug it out for 12 rounds and left blooded and brain damaged. Floyd makes it look easy against these fighter and Manny would be no different if they fought.

Maidana doesn’t have to rough up Floyd to win… If he hits Floyd on the chin with his best overhand right he might win.

I also might win the lottery, but I’m not counting on it.

Floyd is a runner, a dodger and ring hugger. No doubt Broner is a clown but he went and took a risk to fight a prime Madiana unlike Floyd who waits to fight a old Shane Mosely or washed up Cotto. Floyd is the cherry pickers of cherry pickers. Broner has guts to trade punches and make it a show at least Floyd just shoulder rolls steps back and makes it a none fight.

Posted March 31, 2014 1:26 am

get over it

Floyd is no Broner. Broner is a ass clown who hasn’t fought anyone worth talking about he is way too small to fight at 147 and he is inexperienced. Shoulder roll? Yes but he stops Floyd roll either way and he catches punches he counters he moves the total package Broner is use to walking guys down with his speed but Miadana is a different breed he is like a bull you have to make him respect you early on. And Broner got caught and didn’t know what to do. Floyd and Broner are miles apart skill wise ring IQ and stamina, Maidana will be thoroughly out classes it will look like ameture night he will be missing and getting countered all night like everyone else Floyd fights Roughing him up will never work you have to try and out think him something no one has been able to do.

Posted March 31, 2014 12:44 am

Did he just say that Mayweather uses the same shell defense that Broner uses? What would have been a more accurate statement, would have been “Broner attempted to use the shell defense employed by Mayweather, who uses it correctly and more effectively.” That would have been a step in the right direction. First off, Mayweather employ’s way more head and foot movement than Broner. Second, Mayweather won’t be in a position that will allow Maidana to throw shots in the manner he did against Broner. Mayweather is bigger than Broner, which means that those looping shots of Maidana may not hit the mark against Mayweather like they did against the smaller Broner. Third, Broner was hit with Maidana’s left hook all night because he constantly dropped his right hand, which Mayweather doesn’t do, as he uses that right hand to block the left hook. Another writer of ESB who goes left feel and loses credibility.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

“What would you do dude? I’m Just curious.”

I would let the ref do his job, which is exactly what Cortez did. He immediately separated the fighters; deducted 1 point from Ortiz and warned him that anymore headbutts would result in more point deductions and/or disqualification; and gave FMJ time to collect himself and shake off whatever damage was done. (It was not FMJ’s responsibility to take matters into his own hands and retaliate at that point.)

Ortiz then made the naive mistake of thinking FMJ is a fair-play sportsman, and went to embrace him as a demonstration of apology. Then immediately afterward, when Victor’s hands were down at his sides, FMJ clocked him with a hard left hook. Ortiz then looked to Cortez out of disbelief, expecting him to step in and do something, and that’s when FMJ nailed him square in the jaw with a power right — resulting in a KO.

My argument is that a boxer should never tee-off on a defenseless opponent (hands down at sides, looking in another direction) — especially with hard, KO punches. That could result in a very serious injury, maybe even career-ending. You can make the argument that a fighter should have his hands up and be ready at at all times, but it doesn’t make the sucker punches any less cheap or unnecessary. What Ortiz did was wrong, but the ref had already punished him accordingly. So If I were the ref, I would’ve DQ’d FMJ. IMO… that KO should not count because it wasn’t fair and legit. Why do you think the 15K fans in the arena went crazy, booing and jeering? Because they deserved to get every cent of their money back. That’s my opinion for what it’s worth. A boxing match is far from a street or bar fight.

If Maidana for even a moment hurt Fraud, he will take off on his daddy’s old ten speed to take the decision. The nuthuggers will praise him….Pathetic, boring and very old at this point

Posted March 30, 2014 7:38 pm

@Squared Circle

Dude, you’re kidding when you said Floyd should have been DQ’d for punching out Ortiz. That makes no sense. Not after Ortiz nailed Floyd full in the face with a flying head-butt.

Did you expect Floyd to be placated by all the hugging and kissing after Victor smashed his head into his face? Should Floyd be a sucker? He knocked the chump out with legal punches. That’s what you do first thing after somebody deliberately fouls you. Floyd got his Irish up when that head rammed him, opening a huge cut inside his mouth.

What would you do dude? I’m Just curious.

“Maidana must rough up Mayweather to win”(?). does Maidana have another choice? was there ever any suspense regarding Maidana’s fight-plan? did anyone really expect that Maidana was planning to revamp his entire fighter-profile to outclass and outpoint rather than outrough and tough and punch Mayweather? it’s also a glaring lapse of judgement to assume that Maidana is stronger than Mayweather who is deceptively stronger than all of his welter opponents and too strong to be manhandled by his jr. middle opponents. nonetheless, it’s Maidana’s chance to expose Mayweather’s decline but if his timing is wrong like Floyd’s previous 45 opponents, “Chino” is destined to become the 46th “W” on Mayweather’s ring-resume.

Posted March 30, 2014 6:15 pm

Maidana don’t have a chance Floyd is too smart to brawl with him. He will keep the distant and counter Miadana and whip him up all night to another easy win. Marcos is very strong but he is slow and a plotter he will get his ass kicked Floyd is no Broner, You will see that starting with the first round. Boxing IQ and composure is something that you cant teach Broner got cought early on ane didn’t stick to a game plan because he didn’t have one they though Broner could walk him down with his speed and power, But when he got caught he stop letting his hand go and when into survival mode. His camp completely underestimated Marcos who is a beast. Floyd will not make the same mistake. Floyd is unbeatable everyone tired to rough him up to no avail you have to beat a chess player playing chess not checkers he is two moves ahead all the time. You have to adjust when he does and you have to have a lot of stamina and a good jab. At 37 Floyd still runs 12 miles a day he has a insane work ethic. Everyone runs out of gas.

@ Ghetto Thug: I agree! Victor Ortiz is a PUNK!

Posted March 30, 2014 2:01 pm

My main concern would be his awkward punching style. The way he dropped Broner was from punches that Broner couldn’t pick up where they were going to land. Maidana throws punches where they can appear to be headed to one target and at the last second turn over to another. Its like Maidana’s shot to the body but it didn’t end up going to the body, it rose to the head at the last second.

Maidana has to just keep swinging both his arms to have a chance.

Last time Floyd was hurt came off from not picking up the right hand after Shane threw a jab to the body.

Manny “Fighter of Floyd’s prime decade” Pacquiao

Miadanas world class tools are his power and durability so he can make it through the fight and has a scary punchers chance. The problem is that his other tools are so far below Floyds im even gonna go so far as saying Floyd will get the tko. Even though Floyds power is a bit below average he’ll catch Miadana in positions that’ll make them hurt more due to the huge differences in talent.

Posted March 30, 2014 1:13 pm

But I still pick Mayweather to win. Possibly by TKO.

Posted March 30, 2014 12:54 pm

“He already saw what happened to Broner, so he will be thoroughly prepared.”

Exactly. Anyone can call Maidana anything they want, but Marcos is a very dangerous opponent. For anyone. And he has the power to KO Floyd with one punch. Floyd won’t be trying to walk through Maidana’s punches like Broner did. But you can bet Maidana will attempt to walk through Floyd’s punches.

I still maintain that Maidana will give Floyd his toughest fight since Miguel Cotto, and will likely perform even better against Mayweather than Cotto did.

Ridiculous mismatch. Maidana is slower than treacle and will be punching air all night against Mayweather. His only chance is to connect with a home run and that it why we’ll all be tuning in. Bradley, Thurman would provide better tests. Khan gets stopped against Collazo. He will start fast, make. O impression on Collazo and will then take a nasty beating. Khan is totally shot and this will be showcased on May 3.

I think Floyd will winner, maybe in level Hatton fight. But there are 2 thinks – maidana is growing under great trainer Garcia with huge help Ariza, they can find weak places in Floyds style and second, maida is mentally strong, still punching and he doesnt dpeak english, trash talks he doesnt care, he is focus on his enemy. And for me, he knows, how destroy michigan shell, look how is punching his right overhand hook by the ropes again brones and still punching body shots… I could be good match, i hope:)

Broner is MENTALLY not on Mayweather’s level and from a skill set standpoint, he’s not there yet either. The ref will play a part and I agree with others in this forum in that as long as its not Cortez, Im good. Towards to the middle-late part of his career, Mayweather proved that he can move forward, back his opponents up, and stand in the pocket. Now he’s going back to what won him the titles in the first place, the Mayweather that beat Hernandez, Manfredy, and Corrales (RIP).

Posted March 30, 2014 11:55 am

This is a waste of time fight mayweather will play with maidaina . Anyone really think he as a chance ? I wish he did Im not a big fan of Mayweather but can’t deny is talent. Havn’t got much interest in this fight as its a forgone conclusion!

Posted March 30, 2014 11:35 am

Yes he has a title, is on a winning streak and a KO winning streak at that. Porter just won his belt and before that he had a win and a draw against Diaz. Maidana is the 2nd most deserving fighter at Welter to earn a fight for the WW Championship.

Posted March 30, 2014 11:20 am

Maidanas throws power punches unpredictably, looping and straight. The first Broner knockdown was off a punch that looked to be going low before coming up as a left hook. I am not predicting a maidana win, but I think he’s probably a better matchup against Floyd than most guys at 147. I’d say a better one than khan or Garcia. Mayweather wins a ud most likely.

Posted March 30, 2014 10:49 am

The Honeybadger

I think Maidana this current version would steamroll Alexander. Maidana was still new under Garcia and hadn’t adapted very well a 147 as good as Alexander had. Maidana believe it or not actually has a defense and working jab now. Alexander hasn’t improved at all. He would get outclassed just like he did vs Mathysse who deserved the decision, not Alexander.

“Lionking, that’s funny. Floyd hurts just about everybody he fights.” LOL… is that the joke of the day, Q? Because that’s really funny. FMJ outpointed Canelo, but he certainly didn’t “hurt him,” wobble/rock/stagger/ him, bust-up his face, knock him down, or stop him. The last time FMJ legitimately hurt an opponent was Hatton all the way back in ’07. And RH was a little Jr. WW with short, stubby T-Rex arms. (Ortiz doesn’t count because that was nothing but a couple of prison-yard sucker punches. That was the cheapest sh*t I’ve ever seen in boxing and FMJ should’ve been DQ’d.)

People have to quickly forgotten how Khan and Alexander easily controlled range against Miadana. These guys move just to move every movement Floyd makes is setting you up for something. Thats why I think Floyd will be able to hit Miadana with alot of shots he wont see coming. If Floyd had more power id predict a tko. This fight shouldn’t be happening Floyd continues to disappoint me.

I don’t see much happening in this fight and as Maidana chases Floyd around, he gets and feels the consequences. As in all fights , anything can happen BUT, if it happens the way I suspect it will I can’t understand how anyone CAN NOT give credit to Mayweather … He is in a class all to himself,.. regardless how anyone else sees or calls it, … he’s great and probably the best in the game today… PEACE… .The … ‘The Language of the Ring”

“I thought the whole point of promoting yourself is so that every fight is open?”

No, the point of promoting yourself, like any promoter is to make the MOST money, for the LEAST effort. A promoters job is to get people to part with their money. If they can sell a D fighter as an A fighter, then even better! If they could sell sand to the Arabs or Ice to the Eskimos they would and would feel proudest for it. Promoters are basically scam artists.

Cinderella man

The key for Maidana is to show no respect for Floyd, I felt Mayweather opponents showed him lots of respect and allowed themselves to fell prey to May’s style, Canelo couldnt get started, Maidana must train to throw punches from all angles without tiring for 12 rounds, he should watch Pacman’s conditioning when he beat Barrera back in 2003.

Posted March 30, 2014 3:21 am

Maidana must rough him up to win? Who didn’t know that? Maidana has zero chance to win. None. Too slow, predictable, one dimensional, no defense, telegraphs every shot, bad feet, no head movement. Seriously, this is a waste of a fight. Toughness wins nothing. Mayweather picked this fight to look good against a guy who has no boxing skills. Just a plodder that throws wide power punches. Mayweather will win this fight 12-0 or stop him late.

Canelo signed for Floyd when he was 22 years old. He had a lot of pro fights but very few amateur fight. I wouldn’t call him a seasoned fighter for another 2 or 3 years and he won’t reach his peak for 7 years. He was weight drained for Floyd and should have paid the fine.

He paid the fine aginst Angulo when saw he would hurt himself going below 155. Live and learn. Saul’s a middleweight. He’s bigger than Martinez, who fought over 20 fights as a welterweight … and wasn’t a youngster when he turned pro.

Maidana won’t have any weight issues and he can go hard for 12 rounds. I doubt if he’ll make it 12, Broner almost stopped him in the 11th…

But if Marcos catches Floyd with that tricky, arching right hander MM might get something going with follow up left hooks. Those are the punches that flummoxed Broner — they work really well in combo on the shoulder roll and the cross-armed defense.. They mess your timing up.

So Marcos is a very dangerous opponent, but Floyd is the best at making adjustments… He already saw what happened to Broner, so he will be thoroughly prepared.

the ref saved cotto from margarito…..just like the first fight, cotto wins the early rounds but fades late, this was the same only differrence was that the ref came to his aid….and your proud?what a disgrace, dont tell me your puerto rican

That was pointless. Mayweather could have fought him now but his excuse not to work with arum is just a ploy not to fight. Manny would have got 40 mill when he was paid 35 to fight cotto. Manny was pound for pound king and was supposed to take a less share. Bull sh it he should. That’s floyd way of ducking the fight. He never was paid 100 mill for canelo so get your facts right. He received 71 mill. A bit diff than 100 but that’s what you do make up shi t

Auzbox, he wasnt gonna drop him 4-5 times but if you remember correctly it only took margarito 2 times to finish the job….all it wouldve taken was one shot and the ref didnt give him the benefit of the doubt nor less let the championship rounds to finish…again, no the difference.

Posted March 30, 2014 2:09 am

Cotto won its that simple. Your only as good as your last finish and cotto beat him there last fight

Posted March 30, 2014 1:59 am

Coming on but way to late. Margo was never going to get the stoppage or drop cotto 4-5 times

Fight Aficionado

If Maidana fights like he did against Broner he’s a live underdog. Bring the heat from the opening round, let his hands go, hope the pressure breaks Floyd down. Problem is Floyd’s counter punches, balance and timing are twice as good as Broner. That’s why most opponents’ punch-counts decline against Floyd, they’re concerned about getting counter punched.

yea but they stopped the fight…were you drunk?margarito was coming on, youtube it if your were to stoned to remember….the ref stopped it so dont sit here and say cotto won this fight just because he got home cooking.he didnt take a knee or quit….know the difference

Posted March 30, 2014 1:57 am

Margo lost every round bar one on the cards so I wouldn’t call that in Margos favour and that was on all three scorecards

Auzbox, funny…they didnt stop the fight with that one cat thats brain damaged but they stop the margarito fight?make no mistake, margarito didnt lose the rematch, the refferee came to cotto’s aid, not like cotto saying he wants no more.

Good one bust a cap ghetto, just like now. I won’t fight manny for the biggest pay day of my life. Next it will be he doesn’t fight people with dark hair. Haha you and your dumb princess floyd. More excuses then books in a library

Posted March 30, 2014 1:46 am

Not really cause he couldn’t back it up. Cotto showed he was the superior fighter the second time around. Tony took 1 round the whole second fight

Auzbox, dont mistake it…margarito soften him up for all.

Posted March 30, 2014 1:32 am

PAC softened cotto or cotto would have beat mayweather. PAC bashed cotto. Floyd only fought him after manny destroyed him first hahaha

Posted March 30, 2014 1:18 am

Ducked mayweather ghetto. WHY was he scared of a decision loss LMAO floyd would never of hurt him or taken his first loss. So why would he be scared idiot. Or Marquez who PAC leads 2-1-1 haha. Manny shut out shane, Moseley took rounds off floyd haha

Chicken haha never ducked a fight in his life. Half the boxing world says a little KFC mascot in floyd has. Don’t criticise someone for not getting a KO since 09 when floyd hasn’t either

Punktor Ortiz got what he deserved, its funny to see bi+ches still whinnig about this

Posted March 30, 2014 12:25 am

KO King

Victor Ortiz roughed up Mayweather and was coming on strong. Mayweather didn’t like it one bit so he sucker punched him. Mayweather knew he was going to be on the end of a beating. Lucky Ortiz has glass in his jaw.

Posted March 30, 2014 12:02 am

Victor Ortiz tried to rough Mayweather up and we all know what happened there. Maidana’s chin isn’t the best and I think Mayweather gets a TKO around round 7.

Mike Tyson, i agree with much of what you said…..maidana is alot mor accomplished as a pro than canelo and is why im giving him a better shot…not only that but on maidana’s corner.canelo’s corner clearly should there in experience and ablility to adapt….i gave mayweather for taking this fight.

Ghetto Thug, than understand this…if buster douglas a 30-1 underdogg beat tyson than surely madaina might have a better chance.listen, im picking mayweayther by decesion but lets not forget that mayweather is mortal.

Mike Tyson

No, I think maidana is better than Canelo. Why because he moves his head better than canelo the bean stalk that brite white face standing straight up was a target if I ever seen one, and it follow you around, Floyd could have close his eyes and pop him.

Maidana, also has the idea watch his clubbing right hand is perfect for low left handed boxer.
Just adjust the timing, as Floyd goes back and duck down.

Other than getting caught flush Floyd should survive and box maidana ears off 4-1
Floyd plan is to keep maidana at the end of the long jab and mix his leading right or lefts.

Should be interesting as maidana is very busy fighter that don’t give up. Floyd can’t not
Make maidana fight his fight.

Posted March 29, 2014 11:26 pm

Manny “Fighter of Floyd’s prime decade” Pacquiao

2 huge things in this matchup that’s really bad for Miadana. 1st hes not a big ww and 2nd the skill level are odviously very far apart. Floyd will hit Miadana even cleaner than he does others in fact I think hell hit Miadana with punches Miadana doesn’t see coming alot. This fight is possibly on the Gatti/Hatton level so it shouldn’t be taking place.

Maidana got his arse kicked by a living corpse named erick morales, what do u think is gonna happend vs Mayweather?? this is why Im not very interested in this fight

SREDMOND, any man who steps in the ring has a chance….mayweather aint god.maidana might have a small chance but its a chance non the less….any man can be beat and no one is invisinsible.i do think that mayweather will probably win by decision cuss he dont k.o anyone but he better have his track shoes on.

Posted March 29, 2014 11:00 pm

Maidana has NO chance, the prayers of every Mayweather detractor on earth plus an UZI in his hands leaves Marcos the loser of this fight.. He is a tough, determined fighter who is gonna get fatally embarrassed in May, Canelo is a much better and faster fighter than Maidana and he was damn near shut out… If Floyd loses it won’t be to Maidana..

Posted March 29, 2014 10:37 pm

brick city

Shane mosely said that Canelo and Mayweather had about the same type of power. But any way, Maidana wont rough up mayweather period

Posted March 29, 2014 10:33 pm

Maidana must TRANSFORM into pacman, bradley, 3g, or lara to have a chance at beating floyd.

this entire card is garbage and the MOST farbage fight on this card is fraud vs maidana. this kind off ppv is for shmucks

Posted March 29, 2014 10:31 pm

Lionking, that’s funny. Floyd hurts just about everybody he fights. I’m more surprised by the underestimation of Floyd’s physical strength. Nobody saw the Canelo fight? He was backing the guy up… this being a stout Jr. Middleweight who could fight at Middleweight tomorrow if he wanted. Maidana could get stopped even. He will certainly get hurt, unless he stops Floyd. There is no way he doesn’t get hurt in this fight.

Posted March 29, 2014 10:22 pm

Easy win for Floyd. A smaller, slower version of Canelo with less in the skills department. It takes a speed fighter with skills to get to Floyd. Last guy to do that was Mosley.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

This fight is a TOTAL mismatch. Chino is aggressive with good power, but simply doesn’t have the speed to catch FMJ. FMJ will win the decision with this usual, boring style of outpointing MM — primary with his quick jab combined with several right leads. But I really don’t believe FMJ has the power to hurt or stop Chino.

I tend to agree that Mayweather is waaaay better but I’d like to see Maidina at least make it hard for him.

Posted March 29, 2014 9:47 pm

Doesnt matter whose the ref! Floyd is on a whole different level! Chino is a warrior but this is a total mismatch! May prob is bigger, stronger, faster, better skills! Floyd may k.o. chino mid, late rd k.o.!

Posted March 29, 2014 9:38 pm

Maidana will walk forward, cut the ring off, maybe even stick Floyd down for the first time in his career, but Floyd will win a wide UD.

Posted March 29, 2014 9:35 pm

It’s the only shot he has which is to rough him up. Keep coming at Floyd like Rocky Marciano did. Fighters that are past 35 do tend to have stamina issues and like to control the pace of the fight with the jab, subtle movements, and great counter-punching. You have to take that away.

Posted March 29, 2014 9:35 pm

done deal

We have all heard this before lol. How was barely able to rough up Broner. PBF is a completely different animal. He has seen it all and done it against much better fighters than Maidana. I do agree that rough house is the only tactic he can take that makes sense.

Posted March 29, 2014 9:31 pm

This fight will be a replay of Guerrero vs Mayweather. Guerrero was supposed to rough up Mayweather, so was Victor Ortiz. Ortiz got knocked out trying to kiss Mayweather and Guerrero didn’t have a ghost of a chance of hitting Mayweather. Hater’s gonna hate but Mayweather is on another level even at his age. The reason is he respects the himself and the sport. He may have personal issues but when it comes to boxing he’s on point. Always in great shape doesn’t abuse his body and has a keen business IQ. I’m not a fan but I have to give the devil his due. He’s never taken a beating and is just to slick to get hit. Broner is not Mayweather, never will be, the only thing he has in common with Mayweather is his skin tone, and that’s where it ends.

Posted March 29, 2014 9:27 pm

I am also inclined to believe that the only chance Maidana has to beat FMJ is to jump at him and throw everything he’s got including the kitchen sink, and that is of course metaphorically speaking. Most importantly, he has to make sure that he has enough stamina to sustain a relentless attack for the whole 12 rounds. Only one chance and not an iota more, he must attack and force the pace of the fight if he has a chance of winning, and that thought could be very slim. If he wins, it would be a monumental achievement by him and Argentina should rejoice as a nation of tough warriors!!

Posted March 29, 2014 9:24 pm

He needs to go all out attack for 4 rounds. If he doesn’t get him by then he’s done. I’m not comparing fighters but a bit like Hagler did v Hearns. Go out all guns blazing from the bell. Mayweather is too good to lose a decision.

Posted March 29, 2014 9:23 pm

Get with the sport. Ref Joe Cortez is retired.

Posted March 29, 2014 9:22 pm

mayweather will knock him out guaranteed, madaina is a clubber, chops with his punches, he has no chance….

Posted March 29, 2014 9:00 pm

Steve smoger and tony weeks would be good too. Anyone but Joe Cortez or Lawrence cole.

Posted March 29, 2014 8:56 pm

oracle-the referee in the broner fight was lawrence cole. one of the most horrendous, inept, corrupt and dumb referees around. I want Kenny Bayless to referee this fight. Not that I believe that Maidana has a chance in hell, but at leatmst I’ll know that the referee won’t screw maidana’s game plan.

Posted March 29, 2014 8:53 pm

Floyd’s issue

I agree, Mayweather may dominate him and probably any fighter of his era. I think the only way to get to him is to rough him up and fight dirty.

Posted March 29, 2014 8:52 pm

Prof Konje

According to the writer, Mayweather should be eating soup and sitting in the sun with a blanket around him. I will admit that he is older, however what he has left is significantly more than most begin with. Maidana does have a rough style but Mayweather will cope as he always does. Please do not compare Broner to Mayweather. Maidana does have a brawler-type style, but Mayweather still has the speed, footwork, and experience. I thought that Joe Cortez had retired.

Posted March 29, 2014 8:47 pm

The oracle of Delphi

Yes, has to. And I hope the referee will let him do it. If it’s Cortez Maidana is screwed. The ref in the Broner fight was good.
