Haye fought a masterful fight vs Chisora. So I hope he fights again… Actually that was the only fight recently where I think he was 100%.

If he gets his body back into fighting shape in the next year or so, he probably won’t be as fanatical about training and relax a little more.. Anytime you go too hard in this sport you burn out early.. It’s impossible to be stronger and fitter than everybody else, especially if you’re a small heavyweight … You can be a better boxer—that’s all you can do.

The NABF is a regional title, NOT a national title. And the majority of American fighters think of the USBA as a mere trinket. I’m not going to waste any more time arguing with Brits about the importance of national titles, because for some strange reason y’all still seem to think the B & C Title is some important, prestigious title. In reality, it’s only a trinket like the Irish Title and is basically meaningless on the international stage. David Haye would agree with me on this and that’s precisely why he never even bothered to pursue the B & C Title. Fury would agree with me as well. Nuff said!

Oh, okay. Is that why the vast majority of countries in the world — outside the UK/Ireland — don’t even bother with national titles when it comes to pro boxing?

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

To me it looked obvious that Haye had put on quite a bit of muscle mass in his upper body (arms, chest, shoulders, etc.) when he moved up to HW. And he remained ripped around the mid-section, so I think he may have pulled a Holyfield. Who knows? He’s a really talented boxer with a lot of power in his right hand, but he looks extremely uncomfortable in the ring with Super HWs (Valuev, Wlad). To the point where he almost totally stops throwing punches. That why I think that Fury, at 6’9″ 260lbs with a giant 85″ reach, would give DH a lot more trouble than most fans think.

I mean TF is half a foot taller, has a big reach advantage, outweighs DH by at least 40lbs, is still improving his technique, and isn’t a bit afraid to mix it up or get hit. I’m not saying I’d put money on TF to win, but he could pull it off if DH failed to catch him with a couple of clean, hard power shots.

In a very recent interview, Haye sounded unsure whether or not he’ll retire or return to boxing. DH: “I’d love to [fight again] but maybe my body is telling me to call it a day. I don’t know. I can just about do eight press-ups. I’m months and months and months away from even punching a bag, let alone a person.” Well… DH hasn’t fought since 7/12, so if and when he does come back it sounds like it’ll be a Vitali-like layoff. Three years is a whole lot of ring rust to shake off vs. a young hungry giant like TF. But who knows, maybe TF will lose a fight before that time comes?

Posted March 22, 2014 10:43 pm

scottyboy

Squared circle…browsing through your latest posts suggests that you are implying Haye was PEDing in order to gain 20+lb in weight having gone from CW to HW. Whilst I am not the biggest Haye fan in the world, he is undoubtedly extremely talented but was festering at CW for many years which simply did not suit him. 20lb sounds a lot but what you need to remember is that haye hasn’t put on 20lb to come up to HW, he actually lost 20lb off his NATURAL body weight to make the CW limit. It really is that simple.

For the record, I agree with Tark in that Haye destroys TF and would fear nothing other than genuine injury in beating him convincingly. To be fair, TF is looking far more solid and naturally athletic these days (the definition is evident in the video), TF is maturing physically and this is a valid tool.

Posted March 22, 2014 6:59 pm

TARK

Let me put it this way Squared Circle.

Vitali Klitschko suffered 4 straight injuries in preparing for his Hasim Rahman fight. Now, it’s a fight he would have won very easily but he kept getting injured in training camp.

He became very frustrated and retired for 4 years… rather than reschedule the fight for a 4th time… It took him a long time to get over the disappointment and frustration.

Sometimes when luck is good, it’s real good… and sometimes when luck is bad??? It’s real bad… You probably know what I mean.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

TARK: Although we don’t always agree, I respect your opinions as well. I understand you wouldn’t spend that much on sparring partners unless serious about a fight, but Haye is an ego-driven man who would probably go to great lengths to avoid being accused of ducking in order to save face. As you know, PED/steroid abuse can cause an athlete to be injury prone, and Haye did put on over 20 lbs of lean muscle in a short period of time in his late 20s. Maybe that has something to do with all the injuries? If Haye’s latest injury was not considering “career-ending,” I have no idea what would prevent him from requesting new negotiations with Team Fury and rescheduling the fight again. After all… it would be a Big $$$ fight over in the UK. Haye has officially retired once before, so I’m not sure how serious he really is about boxing at this juncture. If he really wants TF, he must be the one to press the issue and demand the fight.

Makes no sense, fury is clumbsy, not a physical specimen, hasn’t really fought anyone huge yet and Haye went 12 with Wlad but he’s ducked Fury 2 times? I believe someone is covering a pile of $hit with icing and trying to convince us that it’s cake.

Posted March 22, 2014 3:34 pm

TARK

That’s fine Squared Circle… But I wouldn’t spend 300 thousand dollars on the toughest sparring partners in the world—unless I intend to go through with the fight … and beat my opponent besides.

It makes no sense to go to that extreme, if I’m going to shut down camp a week out. My read is that Haye is injury prone. He needs to adjust his fanatical attitude.

Haye easily smashed an in-shape Chisora. Fury lost a couple rounds to a woefully fat Chisora who was suffering from a hernia and couldn’t train properly… so I don’t believe Haye was afraid of Fury in the least … Sometimes lightning just strikes twice… especially if you’re not wise.

But I respect your point of view.

Posted March 22, 2014 3:13 pm

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

Haye pulled out of two different scheduled fights with Fury. Haye has a sketchy history of pulling out of fights because of various “injuries.” As far as I know… Haye hasn’t scheduled another bout with TF and has been talking about retiring for good. So as far as I’m concerned, Haye ducked Fury twice and no one — not even God almighty — can convince me otherwise.

Posted March 22, 2014 2:56 pm

TARK

Haye didn’t duck Fury twice. Haye hired the biggest, strongest, toughest, most expensive, and hardest punching sparring partners available for the Fury camps. He was damned serious but he’s an extreme fanatic.

Haye over trains… He’s gotten more and more fanatical. He breaks his body down trying to be stronger, faster, and in better condition than anyone else. There are two extremes you can go to. You have to use common sense.

If you’re in a position where you can make several million dollars a fight, you don’t wreck your body by over training.

Fury is far from “beloved” in my book, but he’s real enough to beat Chisora and 2-3 others in the Top 10. Haye ducked him twice — that was as real as it gets. Wlad Klitschko is the only current HW that I really like and respect. I love it when peanut brain half-witted mongoloids, with delusions of grandeur, try to convince themselves and others that they can beat me in a boxing debate.

JoanneBugner: So what if the B & C Titles are the oldest. Sorry, but it’s considered a totally insignificant trinket in the world of international boxing. And the B & C Title is certainly not considered more prestigious or important than the Ring, IBF, WBC, WBO, WBA, IBO — or even the International and Intercontinental titles. Why do you think David Haye never even bothered to pursue the B & C Title as a Heavyweight, when he easily could’ve won it with almost no effort?

Nothing wrong with the British and Commonwealth Titles. The British title is the oldest out there. Theyre more valid than the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO ”International”, ”Masters”, ”Silver”, ”Intercontinental” titles, those mean nothing and no one ever takes them seriously, nor these weird organisations like the WBF, IBC, IBO, WAA, WBU etc etc.

Posted March 22, 2014 10:04 am

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

Truth Teller: I’m not trying to sound intimidating and I haven’t threatened you. At least I don’t use fake handles and multiple alts when debating other posters on ESB, you spineless coward. Why don’t you use your REAL handle and face me like a man? So who’s hiding behind their keyboard, you mouthy pansy-a$$? Clearly, it ain’t me!

So, Fury vacated the “British & Commonwealth Titles” because they’re meaningless trinkets — not REAL titles — in order to pursue LEGIT world titles. Big deal! He went on to win the WBO Intercontinental Title, which is not a major world title, but still makes the B & C Titles look like small potatoes. If you want to criticize TF for that, then be fair and criticize Price for doing the exact same thing. Because Price vacated the B & C Titles in Dec. 2013. Haye never even bothered to fight for the B & C Titles — even though he easily could’ve owned them for years — because he too knows they’re just pawn-shop trinkets. Fury would agree to fight Davey “Glass Jaw” Price in a New York minute if he was a real contender. But Price is simply not in his same league (Top 10) and doesn’t bring enough money to the table. Chisora is still Top 10 and brings enough loot to the deal; that’s why TF is rematching him. That being said, TF has limited skills and will more than likely never be HW Champion of the World.

SC – I just state the facts as usual while fan boys like yourself need to lie, insult and try to sound intimidating behind that plastic keyboard. Fact is Fury ducked and dropped titles so he wouldn’t have to fight an up and coming Price. Price would fight him tomorrow but Fury still won’t say his name. He learnt his lesson when calling out Browne who responded immediately so Fury chose a nobody again (who was that last guy he gave an entire 1 week notice to fight) and then the light punching Chisora. I didn’t even mention Haye because he is a loud mouth buffoon so you can keep that argument to yourself. You have similar attributes to Haye maybe that makes you “butt hurt”.

The long left hook had nothing in it, just look where his feet were. The left was just a set up for the straight right and because that clearly missed they had to scream temple shot, even tho the majority of the punch hit him on the ear and barely moved his head an inch! Please, for thouse of you that know nothing about boxing, try and throw a long left with your left leg in front of right and you will know what I mean. It’s perfect for the right hand, not the left!

Can’t believe fans are still hugging Deontay’s nuts. He’s bullied 31 bums out of the ring, and the only two full time pro’s (not doormen/cabbies) have performed worse that the rest of em! Harrison & Scott have to be fall guys coz I didn’t see a decent punch in either of them fights. At least in the Harrison fight the ref did the dirty deed after Deontay fell all over Harrison, but the Malik Scott stoppage was criminal! And the fans just carry on embarrassing themselves with, ooh ooh, it was a ‘temple shot’, like it’s some magic switch or something…

Posted March 21, 2014 7:48 am

Usually correct

I like both fighters, they’ve added some badly needed entertainment to the heavyweight division. However this felt horribly contrived – I don’t think there’s any hatred or disrespect between these two fighters in reality, which will make it tougher to sell and build any real drama.

On that basis I don’t think this is going to be the summer blockbuster it’s being made out to be. It should be entertaining enough on fight night, and I genuinely feel this is a close fight (much like the last encounter). Chisora had Fury in all sorts of trouble early on until he gassed. He was however still dangerous enough until the final bell to ensure Fury kept his distance.

I’d rather not see any more badly acted theatrics like this however, it isn’t convincing and cheapens the event.

Interesting how the Klitschkos were always harshly criticized for being “boring” and “not having enough personality,” but seems that many of the same fans are criticizing Fury for having an overabundance of personality. This guy is totally entertaining and a real character. I don’t care what anybody says about him. And I bet that he’ll outbox and beat Chisora, again, and a few other top HWs. I am wise

Staged, staged, staged – Frank Warren reducing boxing to WWE just to try and sell a few tickets. Frank, you are finished. Goodbye.

The hard man bit of of pushing the table over looks strange when he does that gay ‘ooo’ jump over it.

Fury needs to take acting classes. May as well break out the glass partition & let Chisora spit a it while Fury uppercuts himself. Haye runs in the ring & hits the winner from behind with a bottle. Some old WWF stuff. Maybe a cage & some folding chairs.

Think it’s a decent fight, but longer term, looking forward to Anthony Joshua taking on these two. He could be the complete package.

Demon

Chis won’t dare slap Fury at the weigh in. Chis is a coward

talbodin

the big idiot will have his glass jaw shattered first time he fights a dangerous opponent.

Posted March 20, 2014 5:11 pm

yo

Why, Tyson, why?

Why did you “retire” and refuse to fight Wilder?

You could have Tko’d him in two and ended the hype train forever.

Instead you fight the tougher Chisora for less money?

moonshineman

Fury is just a little high strung.

Posted March 20, 2014 4:49 pm

XYZ

Lol, worse acting than Malik Scott. Tyson didn’t really seem that angry – just a bit of poorly executed showmanship.

Tyson Fury is an utter twat. Best heavyweight in the world? No way, not even close. He’s a total idiot. I actually think he’s mentally retarded and to be honest I think Anthony Joshua would KO Fury right now. Tyson Fury is an embarrassment to the UK he’s got the mentality of a 7 year old kid.

Posted March 20, 2014 4:11 pm

billy the kid

Publicity stunt to get the fight some attention and Tyson Fury was playing up for the cameras. This could be a good scrap.

Kareem Abdul-Jabaar

first class 24 carat dickhead.

WHAT!?!

I like Chisora head space. He seems to have the right attitude in the last year and has built confidence from staying busy and fit plus winning. Fury screwing around as usual might want to take this a little more seriously and lose some of those love handles.

imy

Fury wil get beat chisora just need to stay calm.

Tyson Fury’s outbursts always evoke laughter. He truly doesn’t understand that no one seems to fear him or even take him seriously. It’s hilarious.

Popkins

He certainly is quite the comedian. Not quite the same as how the real Tyson would erupt tho is it? Iron Mike shouting obscenities at the media men at the Lewis press conference was how u throw a proper paddy whack! .
