I agree with both your comments. This is like murry turning up at wimbledon fat or bolt running at an olympics over weight. Really guys terrible state for one of the best prizes there is in the sport

Posted September 29, 2012 5:11 am

These guys both need to get out of the game, we all knew that Rahman is completely lacking when it comes to discipline, but the other guy is supposed to be a champion of some sort. If this is Rahman in his best shape ever, i would hate to see him out of shape, ban guys like this he has had his chances, made a lot of money, if he is broke right now, that is entirely his fault. It is time to start banning these guys that are over 40, fat and lazy. Rahman is a circus clown, just there for the money.

He`s fatter than Uncle Phil

Posted September 29, 2012 4:18 am

Yeah – I know. I was referring more generically to the idea of “THE heavyweight championship”, which to me means Wlad. Whether the fight is for that title or not though, any fight at the top level the guy should see it through the prism of being a step towards the top and treat it with that respect. IN terms of these two guys I don`t even know if I could rate either top 10 any more.

Posted September 29, 2012 4:16 am

hahahaha rahman looks like a total d bag. He could give a f…ck. what a joke of a fight let alone ‘title’ fight.

Posted September 29, 2012 2:23 am

How hard does Pov really need to train for this one. Rahman is so so past it. The fight is a joke

rahman look like somebody’s daddy telling you to git you ass back there’n do your homework

Posted September 28, 2012 9:42 pm

I have absolutely 0 respect for out of shape fighters. These fat bastards are a disgrace to this sport.

Posted September 28, 2012 9:05 pm

There should be articles about ustinov and pulev. Not povetkin and some washed up bum who’s overweight. As far as I’m concerned povetkins rank has plummeted. When he fights the top 10 guys he can talk

Posted September 28, 2012 8:47 pm

Ad- this isn’t the biggest prize. W all know it including povetkin. Its no prize. The k’s r the champs. This fight isn’t even the best fight by a long shot this weekend. Rahmans a nobody. The best and most meaningful fight this weekend is pulev vs ustinov. I’m tickled pink I get to see these fights on epix though

Championship fights were 25 rounds when the Queensberry Rules were first established.. It didn’t mean fighters were in any better shape than when they cut them to 15. Some were scheduled for 45 rounds when they wanted a fight to the finish, but some 45-round fights made it to the final bell. I imagine the pace was like watching grass grow around the 35th round. You don’t have to be in shape for any distance—you just pace yourself more. Dempsey demanded 10-round championship fights for Tunney back in the 1920’s, and got his demands. You need cooperation from the other fighter to slow the pace, and Tunney never cooperated …. My guess is Povetkin and Rahman will cooperate plenty, “Hey man, let’s not kill ourselves by fighting out asses off. I don’t want a heart attack and neither do you.”

Jokes aside, there are amateurs who work full time jobs who are in far better shape than these two. This is supposed to be the biggest prize in sport – these guys are paid to do nothing else but be in optimum shape to fight, this is supposed to be their dream, their reason for being, and they cannot even be bothered.

Posted September 28, 2012 7:41 pm

284 is not far from 3 freaking hundred!! Unless youre 7 feet tall, you pretty much a fat f@ck. This seems to happen more today than ever before. Glad he “slimmed down” a bit for this fight but its not like he was called as an alternate, he “trained” for this. Lemme guess…he has a thyroid problem. GMAFB

Posted September 28, 2012 7:38 pm

Good thing for these guys that this isn’t the old days – with the fights scheduled for 15 rounds! They’d be huffin’ & puffin all the way to the cadiac unit, God forbid.

Posted September 28, 2012 7:34 pm

IS this boxing or sumo wrestling?

Posted September 28, 2012 7:31 pm

They both look like they just got out of a all you can eat for free buffet

Posted September 28, 2012 7:14 pm

porky pig

Is the guy in the shirt looking over pov’s shoulder going to fight too? He looks primed and in shape too….hahahahahahaha……..pillsbury would be proud.

Posted September 28, 2012 5:01 pm

unvoluntarily funny

Posted September 28, 2012 4:44 pm

Both, fat. Both cannot go 12 rounds.
Gross out.

Posted September 28, 2012 4:39 pm

What did these guys train on ….. ? …….beer & cheesecake?

Posted September 28, 2012 4:22 pm

Now we can ALL SEE why Pov won’t have a bar of either Klitchko. If this is anything like his usual shpe either brother would utterly murder him. In fact, so would about 1/2 doz others. As for Rahman….well, he doesn’t deserve any title shot but gets it cos he is the standard of Pov opponent. A pointless fight. Hope Pulev gets a big win and that Larsen puts Solis on his arse!

Posted September 28, 2012 4:10 pm

maybe they should have an eating contest

Posted September 28, 2012 4:01 pm

Michael Katac

Rahman needed to come in around 240 to have a chance. All this talk about him being in shape, reminds me of how james Toney would say he is getting in shape and then weigh in at 257. Povetkin does not look that great either, but Rahman should have taken this gift of a title shot he has more seriously, this is his last chance at being relevant in boxing and it looks like he will blow. Clearly he is just here for the payday.

This fat lazy former champion has made an entire career off a Hail Mary just like Doug Flutie

What a sad pathetic gimp you are

Posted September 28, 2012 3:13 pm

I boldly predict that I will have a hard time porking both of these overweight pieces of man beef…however, in the name of being the greatest man lover of all time I will drop to my knees and do my duty.

Posted September 28, 2012 3:10 pm

Posted September 28, 2012 2:53 pm

Povetkin is so talented, what ever he looks like.

Posted September 28, 2012 2:03 pm

Ustinov @ more than 300 lbs?! WTF?! Did he stop training a year ago? What a disgrace! Pulev, please take King Kong out and teach him a lesson. And Pulev, while you’re at it – shed 10 lbs, too.

Posted September 28, 2012 1:59 pm

mr rubes is in better condition than these

Posted September 28, 2012 1:53 pm

Both fat

Posted September 28, 2012 1:46 pm

Rahman overweight, and even @ 230 lbs, Povetkin looks VERY soft. If you want to be a hw king, you need to train your asses off, guys! What a shame.

Posted September 28, 2012 1:42 pm

Two doughboys—each 20 pounds overweight.. If they were in the kind of shape David Haye was in for his last fight, they would be even lighter than that.

any wonders what’s wrong with american heavyweight boxing, just check out rahman’s gut. hard to be a world champion without huger.
