Tark….When did Froch shrink from a challenge from Ward….More like Ward did the shrinking…….

Posted November 21, 2013 4:26 am

Mack…, “Tark you are full of it. Ward v Kovalev Titanic. You must be joking. Ward would school him.”

You must be a follower of Gouge’s…Herron’s friend… He predicted Nathan Cleverly would school Kovalev…

NOPE, Ward would not school Kovalev… Sergei has every weapon… every defense… can box as well as Ward… and can punch a lot harder than Ward.

And the Gatti-Ward trilogy was not “Titanic”.. No slugfest is.. A Titanic fight is one between great fighters.. The whole world is interested in seeing in seeing it … or knowing the outcome.

Thanks for the info urone2

Tark you are full of it. Ward v Kovalev Titanic. You must be joking. Ward would school him. Titanic is an interesting word. Ward v gatti was Titanic. Maybe not in the scheme of big names, but the fight that they produced. I think a fight with two big names is box office NOT Titanic…

Hamster you’re funny—and not in a humorous way.., My comment was very mild compared to the brickbats you throw… I don’t view Froch-Kessler II as “Titanic” … and I didn’t say was “just” a mill—I said it was a mill between 2 guys who couldn’t beat the best in their division—which is exactly what it was. There was nothing particularly “Titanic” about the fight.

Titanic is if Mayweather-Pacquiao happened—possibly Ward vs Kovalev would be titanic … not a lot of fights are.

The fight would have had more significance if Froch took up the challenge to fight Ward again—but he shrank from that challenge like I suspected he would. Let’s see what will happen if Froch can beat this green kid Groves, because Groves already said he’s not ready for Ward. You dumped all over Ward so does that mean you have personal problems??? Maybe.

I expect Froch to prevail but hope that Groves at least makes it competitive. One thing I’m sure of is that Froch-Groves will have more excitement in a singe round than Ward-Rodriguez had in twelve. If Froch does win I wouldn’t mind seeing the rematch with Ward, but there’s no way Ward goes to the UK for that fight. Maybe they could do it in NYC, but that’s as close as Ward will get to the UK.

froch doesnt have nightmares. chuck norris hides under the bed at night and hope froch doesnt ko him

Fight Aficionado

Yeah I gotta give props to Groves for going after Froch. Compare this to whatever ham and eggers DeGale has been fighting and you see whose career has been surging. I wouldn’t bet the house on Froch though. As Ward showed he can be outboxed. Groves is a good boxer. A lot of yanks don’t know this so they’re writing him off.

Posted November 19, 2013 6:58 pm

Big respect for Groves making it look like this is actually a contest. Easy win for Froch and I’ve already put my money on it.

GEORGE has an outside chance of winning this with a lucky punch FROCH walks onto, but I can’t see him out hustling or out boxing CARL.

I HAVE BEEN THINKING back to the goading that PARET did to EMILE GRIFFITH and the resulting tragic circumstances and I truly pray I am wrong because, I can see COBRA using the disgraceful taunting as fuel to give ST GROVES the beating of his life over 12 long hard and painful rounds. If Groves is seriously injured, then he has only himself to blame.

Massive shame that both GROVES and HAYE will be remembered for being classless tools rather than for their in ring skills.

HAYE taunting the KLITSCHKO’S for years with his vile images of their heads in his hands should have been banned and then what he said HARRISON would look like after he finished with him was reprehensible and particularly as he was given the chance to apologise on RADIO 5 LIVE but repeated his comments, just shows what classless tools they really are.

I supported Groves vs bully DEGALE, but feel these are his true colours and I still get that feeling he could end up seriously injured at the weekend and a small part of me will think, “Good, serves him right!”

Sad truth is Groves is a good fighter, who doesn’t need this cr*p to sell a FROCH fight.
I just hope he is paid well, because drinking champagne through teeth smashed to bits is both a difficult and painful task.

I would like to see the winner unify with ROBERT STIEGLITZ, who will give a great fight to either and deserves a crack at the top table whilst we wait on ANDRE WARD’s next move.

Froch may have lost to Ward but I still think he’s a real Bad A$$. Crude but tough as nails and smart to boot. Him not taking an immediate rematch with Ward coming off the high of the bute fight was brilliant. I’m a Ward fan but not one to say Ward would not lose to Froch, this is boxing you never know for sure what will happen. Froch will ride the Bute win for a couple of fights, then go in there with his toughest opponent he fought to date in Ward. If he wins against Ward he will make more money by signing another big fight, if he loses he probably will retire after making some big money. Why risk another lose when you are riding high, now if he loses to Grove that could upset what I would think is his plans.

if you ad the monthly cost of a cable package its about $2000.00 a year plus anywhere from $50 to $80 for PPV’s.

Cliff Richard

Eddie Hearn of Matchroom on the Sky Ringside program with a big smile on his face and “£££££” signs in his eyes as Groves taunts Eddies “best pal” Froch makes me wonder if Eddie told Groves EXACTLY how to act during the build up to this fight in the first place.

Really nice undercard as well :) Froch will destroy groves, he’s giving groves the shot that calzaghe never gave him.

the voice of reason

The way this guy has been disrespectful and mouthing off makes me want to see him get humbled. I’ll be rooting for froch

Posted November 19, 2013 3:15 pm

Groves by close decision except he gets robbed. The reason is, Groves too fast for Froch and has good boxing fundamentals. Though, I don’t really like it when he puts his hands down which will obviously be dangerous against Froch and might cost him the fight. Anyway, I expect him to weather the storm after he’s built a good lead in the early rounds. Don’t see him knocking Froch out but never say never. However, if he gets too careless it’s over because Froch can punch and can finish. An all round great fight. Groves by close decision bar robbery.

Lets see where all the witty comments get groves in the ring. the cobra will do a job on him. Froch KO in round 5.

Froch KOs Groves inside rds

Groves is on crack street

Posted November 19, 2013 1:06 pm

Those of us who saw Ringside a few weeks ago saw Froch keeping a calm, contained lid on himself. I reckon he might now regret having been quite so passive. It’s fight week now and expect Froch to go well and truly on the offensive and give it to Groves both barrels before giving him a well deserved beating on Saturday night!!!

Just out of interest; what does it cost in the States for a year being able to watch all available sport (esp boxing) combined with the standard package of other channels?

boxing barlow:
The reason is that Froch sounded out Calzaghe in a similar way to which Groves is doing to him (Big Gob’s sell tickets) Unlike Joe though the Cobra has accepted the challenge. So big up to him. And the same goes for George who as WBC #1 mandatory could have taken the easier option.
I see your point mate, but it doesn’t make it any better. :-(

Fan power? lol! Even to this day I dont think Froch understands that he is probably the most sucessful but least supported boxer in UK history. The guys record is now pretty unbelievable. He has had the privalidge of fighting literally ever half decent fighter of his generation. Yet his popularity compared with guys like Hatton, Bruno and Calzaghe is really poor. Im pretty sure he’s not making the money they made. He’s one of the most exciting fighters around to watch, yet I cant see the yanks desperate to get him over to the states for big fights like they wanted Hatton, Khan and towards the end of his career Calzaghe. Calzaghe fought in front of about 50’000 people when he fought Kessler, not 20’000. And it had to be fought at 1am so fans in the states could watch it live. He pulled around the same amount against Peter Manfredo!

Mick you are lucky that in your part of the world your PPV is subsidised by the Promoter
In the USA and Australia you are usually looking at $49.95

Posted November 19, 2013 6:35 am

Mick the Marmalizer

No way will I pay PPV for this. Here in the UK we have to fork out £145.50 for the BBC licence ransom, followed by £522.00 PA for Sky. That’s £667.50 before the £14.95 PPV. The more who get conned for this scam the worse it’s going to get!

…. “Froch defeated Kessler in their titanic rematch”

It was a mill between old 2 guys who couldn’t beat the best in the division.
