From International Business Times, September 10, 2013:
“Marisol Gonzalez Casas, a well known model & T.V personality in Mexico, is generating buzz again in the internet by posting photos that would surely titillate every man’s fascination.”
This IS the woman Canelo is reported to be marrying shortly after cashing his paycheck from Saturday night’s bout.Posted September 12, 2013 2:49 pm
Kid Blast — Here is an 11th hour, out of left field potential bomb:
Marisol González (the TV personality, beauty queen engaged to Alvarez), in what can only be explained as an apparent display of intense jealousy over all the attention Canelo is garnering, has gone on a posting spree over the past few days — posting scantily-clothed photos of herself all over the place.

I believe the upset factor in the Garcia/Matthysse bout is fairly low. Garcia is an easy fighter to like – decent skills all-around. As the underdog against Khan, he found a way to pull it out. This begs the question: then why is the upset factor low in the Garcia/Matthysse bout? The answer is found in the fighter on the opposite side of the ring from Garcia. In my view, Khan has a not-so-well-disguised, stunningly low ring IQ. Garcia was able to capitalize on this. There is nothing low about Matthysse’s ring IQ. The approximate 3:1 odds here are about right and in my view the upset factor is fairly low — thus making Garcia a bad dog bet.Posted September 12, 2013 2:28 pm

There is monster money to be made in a rematch should Mayweather somehow lose. Thus a disgraceful decision against Floyd is not totally out of the realm of possibility, particularly in Las Vegas where money talks and walks—no pun intended. While highly-respected Kenny Bayless will be the referee, Judge C.J. Ross is cause for concern as she will be remembered for scoring the Pacquiao-Bradley fight for Bradley, 115-113. Craig Metcalfe is less established and experienced, and this hardly seems the fight for a learning experience. Thankfully, Dave Moretti is solid.
Another caveat is if Canelo cannot reach 152, comes in overweight, pays whatever fine is posted, and Team Alvarez informs Team Mayweather that what was good for Juan Manuel Marquez should be good for Floyd. Then Alvarez becomes an even more formidable opponent, not that he should be taken lightly at the catchweight—again no pun intended.
Everything that needs to be said has been said. Indeed, if ever a fight has been overhyped, this is The One.Posted September 12, 2013 11:59 am

SWIFT does have good power, especially in that sweeping left hook, which he has perfected in such a way that it’s hard to both defend against it and counter…
This matchup reminds me of COTTO vs MARGARITO…. I liked both guys, but COTTO was my no.2 guy in boxing at the time (still is), but after a long visit and chat to many people in Vegas I was convinced that TONY would win…
This is the same scenario. 2 guys I like….The more I think about it, one thing no one has mentioned is the pressure MATTYSSE is now under as the favourite to win in the major spotlight…. it can do funny things….
If MATTHYSSE lands it’s lights out, but SWIFT has proven me wrong time and again….
I think Danny as the power to win this inside 10, but MATTHYSSE has e tools to win inside of 5…
Hopefully, this match will be so good that we have a second fight between them as it STEALS THE SHOW!!!!!Posted September 12, 2013 8:21 am

I WOULD LOVE TO MATTHYSSE WIN ,BUT I FEEL IT MAYBE A CLOSE FIGHT FOR MATTHYTSSE .Posted September 11, 2013 10:06 pm
I second you on that one Hidalgo. I don’t see Garcia lasting past eight rounds. Yet Lucas better shore up his defense. Garcia can throw pretty hard himself. Not as hard as Mattysse but enough to get your attention. Don’t worry brother, you’re not ibsane. This is boxing.Lol. Cheers champ.Posted September 11, 2013 8:59 pm
Hidalgo good evening champ. In reality im really pumped up over two fights and neither one involves the Money man, Mayweather. Garcia/Mattysse and Anderson Silva avenging that infuriating loss. I say Mattysse wins by kayo against a clearly edgy Garcia. By midrounds. The main.event? Im going ti go against the grain and follow my gut feeling on this. The logical mind says Mayweather. For fairly obvious and understandable reasons. Experience, ring savy and Canelos lack of experience on the BIG stage and he is still.a work in progress. However my Gut tells me youth will be served Saturdau evening and Canelo will suprise a lot of people with what he’s going to do. I smell an upset. Can’t shake it. Folks may see a different Canelo than what they are accustomed to seeing when the bell rings. Canelo euther by decision or a stoppage. If im wrong I will be the first to say the better fighter won. Period. But I don’t see business as usual for Mr. Mayweather. Cheers gentlemen.Posted September 11, 2013 8:06 pm
mayweather wins easily; matthysse wins by ko; angel peace to your loud mouthPosted September 11, 2013 7:44 pm
Mayweather’s reflexes and ring skills are both better than Canelo’s. He will have a fight on his hands but will gut his way to a UD. Mathysse will win by stoppage by the fifth round.Posted September 11, 2013 7:30 pm

through his defensesPosted September 11, 2013 4:54 pm
Old Yank says.., “Canelo has a NEED to take mini-vacations during a round (particularly once he’s gone 5 or 6) in order to preserve enough gas to make it 12. Mayweather will use these opportunities to build up points taking pot shots at Canelo. The first 6 could be evenly split as Mayweather adjusts. Once the adjustments are made, Canelo will struggle to win a round.”
I see Canelo taking a couple rounds after the 6th.. He usually gets better as the fight gets longer because observes everything you do and uses it better in later rounds. He’ll have some gas in the tank because Floyd is not an attacker … unless he falls behind.
Remember 171-pound undefeated Trout tried to attack when he got way behind.. Austin whipped on Cotto very well — but couldn’t mount an effective strike threw Canelo’s defenses.Posted September 11, 2013 4:50 pm

Everyone continues to under estimate Danny Garcia. This kid is tough, has boxing skills, great amateur pedigree and has fought through some tough times. Matthysse is a strong good fighter, but he’s limited in what he can do. He’s lost before, and Garcia has heart, and is unbeaten. He’s going to have to box well, but also fight Matthysse a little. Garcia will win this fight. He’s the better fighter.Posted September 11, 2013 4:15 pm
Matthysse has a tendency to lunge and leave himself wide open. He also dispalys a tendency to “stretch” for his opponents in his zeal to land the big KO punch. A well-executed check hook followed by a short straight right by Danny could put Lucas down–maybe just the left hook alone.
You can bet Danny will look to time Matthysse’s faults. Danny is very good at this. But his biggest obstacle will be Lucas’ devastating punching power. Lucas only needs a few shots to stop the show. I say he’ll get them and stop Danny.Posted September 11, 2013 4:02 pm
I think Matthysse makes an early night of it. Garcia is convinced that he can win a battle of left hooks. He will look to use the left hook to back Matthysse up (the alleged game plan is to back Matthysse up). Few can stand their ground better than Matthysse and his left has MUCH more power than Garcia’s. I think it’s over inside 4. Matthysse via KO/TKO.Posted September 11, 2013 3:13 pm
I agree with Kid Blast’s assessment. I will add that Canelo has a NEED to take mini-vacations during a round (particularly once he’s gone 5 or 6) in order to preserve enough gas to make it 12. Mayweather will use these opportunities to build up points taking pot shots at Canelo. The first 6 could be evenly split as Mayweather adjusts. Once the adjustments are made, Canelo will struggle to win a round. In my view, once you start seeing Mayweather using lead right hands, the fat lady is singing. Also, should Canelo actually make 152, watch for signs of early fatigue – mini-vacations beginning as early as the 3rd or 4th round. The sooner you see Canelo failing to work all 3 minutes, the higher the chances are for Mayweather to get the improbable stoppage.Posted September 11, 2013 3:08 pm
Can’t disagree with any of the picks, although I’m hoping García can either land something early to earn some respect of fight with caution the first 5 or 6 rounds and we get a firefight in the end.Posted September 11, 2013 2:53 pm

And Mayweathers victory over Canelo will be close enough, that we will hear, “If Canelo wasn’t weight drained, he would have won” 10,000 times over the next 6 months.Posted September 11, 2013 12:48 pm
Im still picking Matthysse by about the 9th round to stop Garcia. I am rooting for Garcia though.
I’m going with Garcia via KO in 8: I will start off by saying I WANT Matthysse to win, I think he’s good for boxing and ALWAYS makes exciting fights, he has the power and strength to overwhelm Garcia, BUT, from what I’ve seen and read, Garcia seems to be the one who’s better prepared for what’s to come. I see Matthysse head hunting with hopes to land ONE big shot, but Garcia will be ready for that, he’s going to fight smart and will move in angles forcing Matthysse to walk into hard shots, if Matthysse doesn’t use methodical pressure, be smart as he throws those bombs, I see him getting caught around the 8th. Garcia isn’t Peterson, he’s not going to get lured into a mindless brawl, he’s going to be smart in those “exchanges”.Posted September 11, 2013 12:42 pm
Garcia will pick himself up off the canvas once or twice and grab a narrow UD over Mathysse. Mayweather will UD a weight drained Canelo, but much like Cotto, Canelo will have nothing to ba ashamed about with his performance.Posted September 11, 2013 12:41 pm

HI TED THE BULL KIDE BLAST SARES MATTHYSSEEPosted September 11, 2013 12:05 pm
JAMES SLATTER MATHYSSE CANELOPosted September 11, 2013 12:04 pm
I see Canelo pressing Mayweather in the early action—in Cotto fashion– until Floyd completes his diagnosis of the young red head, perhaps as early as the 4th round, at which point Mayweather’s pin point counters and pot shots will turn the tide and move him into cruise control as he wins a somewhat boring UD over Canelo.
One caveat: There is monster money to be made in a rematch should Mayweather lose. Thus a disgraceful decision against Mayweather is not totally out of the realm of possibility.Posted September 11, 2013 12:03 pm
