Taking this fight proves Hopkins should retire. At this stage of his career he shouldn’t be fighting worthless mandatory challengers all so we can watch him wrestle and cheat the whole time.

Bernard Hopkins is still on top and still the light heavyweight world champion! Man I love Hopkins in the ring and he continues to break records. 48 years old and still going strong – and the champ :-)

When people stop watching him. He does decent in ratings and his last couple of fights have done decent at the gate also. Doesn’t matter if people say oh I got to watch him. He draws just enough and is still very competitive that he is still gonna get fights

I don’t hear anyone saying,”BHOP is fighting tonight” gotta watch this one. Nothing bad but at what point does GBP say, your not a draw anymore brother, we can’t carry you anymore.

BHop talks himelf up really good, he wants so bad to be in the spotlight. He does not excite anyone. He is a legend in his own mind, yes he is 48 and still in Great shape and all, good on him but he should train because he just is not what fans want to see. We had our fill of BHop but he won’t go away. Reminds me of the Butler in the movie Mr. Deeds, just keeps showing up.

On the other hand Hopkins did try to make a fight with Beibut Shumenov (has just 13 fights but two titles) who basically backed down

Hopkins was also commanded to fight Kovalev, who’s team was anxious to make it happen but Richard Schaefer said “Kovalev is someone I have never heard of, someone many people have never heard of. That doesn’t mean he is not good. I’m just not so sure how attractive [a fight] that is.”

Hopkins should get out of boxing and get a job at Jack-in-the-Box.

His style may be boring but it’s effective. It’s too bad that nobody can really beat him up. May Stevenson can do it but I’ve seen him struggle against lesser fighters. And when he does fight aggressive fighters his fights aren’t really boring. His fights against Pascal or Pavlik weren’t boring

Hopkins is too old for meaningless fights like these. It should be Stevenson, froch, ward, or other title holders at 168/175.

Golden Boy Promotions, read this, please.

Nothing can be said about the life and career of Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins (53-6-2, 32 KO’s) that hasn’t already been written or aired on television, radio, or the internet, but suffice to say that the 48-year-old from Philadelphia has earned the title “legend” for his storied nearly 15-year stay in the fight game.

Actually, B-Hop had his first professional fight on October 11, 1988, when he lost to Clinton Mitchell by a Majority Decision after 4 rounds. Thus, Bernard Hopkins has had (so far) a nearlt 25-year stay in the fight game, not 15.

Best wishes.

I take it Rigby and the other idiots who are dissing B Hop doesn’t have a clue about boxing. Keep sitting behind your keyboard acting tough and not doing a single ounce of exercise, judging everyone else. He is a world champion at 48, that’s unheard of in any sport. Wake up fools and start appreciating what a champion he is..

Hopkins? Is this clown still around?

Posted August 16, 2013 9:54 pm

This is why Hopkins, Murat and Mandatory’s should be banned from boxing.

B-Hop still on top!
