PEEJ…. Donaire fought most of his career fights at 112.. He beat Darchinyan at 112 when Vic was unbeaten in 28 fights and flattened Fernando Montiel in 2 rounds… He’s a 4-Division World Champion and was very highly rated.. Floyd Mayweather predicted he would beat Rigondeaux with ease.. Floyd has been pretty impressed with Nonito and Donaire was very highly rated P4P.
Rigondeaux is just too good. He’s one of the greatest boxers in fistic history … He’s way better than Ward.
But Ward is a great boxer in my estimation… He just hasn’t fought anyone good yet.. I’d love to see him fight Kovalev.. He gets beaten if he does.. But I’d be happy to see him fight Stevenson or Rodriguez who were in his weight class for a long time.Posted August 18, 2013 7:40 pm
Tark, who has Rigo beat except for Donaire. In my opinion Donaire was overrated and just pushed by Arum and HBO. He never beat anybody in there prime except for Vic and can’t remember the mexican guys name. But he was way bigger than both fighters. Last year he fought a bunch of old fighters either ready to retire which they did right after the fight or fighters that werent that good to begin with.Posted August 18, 2013 11:00 am

Supreme Court you’re nuts… Ward never beat a real good boxer yet.. Rigondeaux beat a great boxer-puncher. I know Ward is damned good. He just hasn’t met anyone outstanding yet.

Well Gonzo Canelo should not of asked for a catch weight. I’m not gonna go back and forth about what Floyd said. You are always trying to find a reason to argue with me. I e said many times that I done like catch weights. So posting what Floyd says really means nothing cause I’ve voiced my opinion on the dislike of the catch weight. So your post is pointless. As far as his punch output vs Trout???
What would you have done if you were miles ahead in a fight that was super important to win??? You’re looking at a Mayweather fight if you win — so how do you fight Trout if you’re a mile ahead???
Are you going to pick your sports and use the scoring cushion the judges gave you??? … Or are you going to start throwing like crazy and give your opponent a chance to land something lucky???Posted August 16, 2013 8:45 pm

Its funny now some of this clowns go out of their way to predict KO victories for Mayweather..Floyd hardly took any chances against Guerrero but we’re suppose to believe that some how he’s gonna break Canelo down and stop him in the late rounds,,ok!..I also think to many people are making too much about Alvarez having stamina issues..Canelo hits hard but he’s no KO artist, the kid is use to going 12 rounds on a consistent basis so I don’t think his endurance for the Mayweather fight we’ll be a problem for him..Posted August 16, 2013 8:22 pm
Boxer…., Andre Ward is NOT number 1 pound-for-pound… AW never beat anyone as good as Cotto or Trout.
Wait until Ward meets and beats a good boxer before calling him the best fighter in Boxing … For instance — if he beat Grennady Golovkin.
Rigondeaux whipped up on Nonito Donaire… So he’s better than Ward too… Andre has a ways to go to get to the top of the list, and he even said so himself. He’s been on the shelf for a while to.
My question is: When is he going to fight Stevenson or Rodriguez??? They were in AW’s weight class for a Hell of a long time … going begging.Posted August 16, 2013 7:57 pm

Canelo is going to be drained at 152 and Mayweather will win a 12 round UD. If Canelo pulls a page from Mayweathers book. Pay Floyd some money and come in at 156 or so. Mayweather did that to Juan Manuel Marquez and dominated him cause he wasn’t drained. Not saying Canelo will win but he’ll have a better chance than if he makes weight.Posted August 16, 2013 7:31 pm
Floyd is still at the top of his game. I agree with Canelo’s problem due to weight drain, possible stamina issues.
Mark he tried to make the fight but egos got in the way. Everybody says well why didn’t Floyd do this or that. Same can be said for Pac. Why did he need a cut off date, why didn’t he accept 40 mil? Arum is the main issue herePosted August 16, 2013 6:25 pm

Floyd will grapple, tangle, and counter his way to a scorecard decision. Canelo might as well test his strength early to satisfy his curiosity but should recognize ASAP that Mayweather is a very strong fighter who can’t be manhandled with impunity. at which point, Canelo should keep his distance and outwork Mayweather for the longshot of outscoring him. aggressive and unrelenting but not reckless or predictable. as long as Canelo isn’t set on a spectacular win, he’s got an outside chance of defeating an older and smaller Mayweather.Posted August 16, 2013 4:08 pm

LOOSE THAT WEIGHTPosted August 16, 2013 3:56 pm
TITOPA, at no point during this fight will Mayweather plant his feet and begin to mercilessly punish Canelo into a TKO stoppage. it’ll be a boring UD that will satisfy few and won’t clarify a Damn thing at middleweight. the only scenario featuring sustained punishment will result in a Canelo upset over Mayweather. a lot of severe misreads and wishful thinking going into this matchup.Posted August 16, 2013 3:55 pm
The TKO/KO won’t come from a single shot, I think it’s going to be an accumulation of punches…Canelo’s going to get tired and Floyd’s not, when that happens, Canelo’s gameplan will go out the window and Floyd’s will fly in, he’s going to use his greater experience and skills to frustrate, tag and punish Canelo enough to where his corner (not him) will pull the plug, knowing their man doesn’t have enough to handle Floyd and they’ll say, “we did our best and you’re still young, that’s enough”.Posted August 16, 2013 3:24 pm

*you get KO’dPosted August 16, 2013 3:19 pm
Gooch – First off, “bumrushing” is NOT Canelo’s style and anyone who advises him to do so is an IDIOT, Floyd feeds off that, Hatton is a good example of what happens when you attack Floyd, you get put KO’d. Canelo is more of a boxer/puncher, he’s relying (from what he’s said) on his boxing ability and speed to beat Mayweather, NOT his size and strength, everyone’s tried to use their strength and it hasn’t worked yet, Canelo’s gonna try to use his boxing ability….which we ALL know isn’t nearly as good as Floyd’s.Posted August 16, 2013 3:18 pm
” stopping canelo inside 11″
what basis do you have for this argument titopa? mayweather hasnt stopped anyone other than hatton like 7 years ago. unless you count koing ortiz whom was not protecting himself. may’s handful (literally)of tko have come below 140lbs.Posted August 16, 2013 3:03 pm
Titopa- hatton did very well bumrushing may the first half of the fight and putting constant pressure. hattons skills vs mays later in the fight proved to be the difference though… canelo is no jr welterweight and put a big solid trout on his ass with a jab. trout could very well be a MW. when canelo realizes that mayweathers pillow gloves cant hurt him he should pressure him. a good 5 combination will put
two things to me that indicate that this is a very uncomfortable fight for mayweather and which he did not want any part of :
mayweather asking for catchweight, is this fight for the light middle weight title? if so its a disgrace this is being fought under 154lbs.may seems to be banking on a weight drained canelo
May appears o have been pressured by showtime brass to take a legitimate and popular name after the dismall ppv numbers in showtime. 2 consecutive ppv flop for May would have showtime trying to void may’s contract and would drastically bring showtime boxing few notches down behind hbo.Posted August 16, 2013 2:51 pm
Gooch – NO ONE can or ever WILL “bumrush” Floyd, he’s far too elusive and clever for that…he’s going to punish this kid, land at will and take him into deep waters. I’m picking Floyd to shock the world in route to stopping Canelo inside 11.Posted August 16, 2013 2:44 pm

one thing for sure is Money will be in there at a non drained optimum fighting weight no issues, Canelo’s weight gain could be described as false weight gain, nothing thats going to help his stamina just bulk him up,that’ll make Money harder to catch.Posted August 16, 2013 1:53 pm

In my opinion the most interesting part of this fight is that I believe both fighters are under estamating eachother, I think Canelo is underestimating Floyd’s movement in the ring, and I think Floyd is under estamating canelos speed and head movement as well, should be interesting but I guarantee it won’t be another walk in the park for FloydPosted August 16, 2013 1:50 pm

te tumbo – Floyd picked Canelo for this very reason, a heavy Canelo is an easy target, he’ll be heavy on his feet and Floyd will tag him at will….Floyd wins this via TKOPosted August 16, 2013 12:44 pm
Btw, Canelo never looked or performed better after making 154lbs to face Trout. he’s most likely only 6lbs from his ultimate fighting weight of 160lbs. IMO, he doesn’t have the size or reach to compete effectively beyond that weight. of course, that’s what i suspect is the real reason so many want Canelo to move up to 168lbs. a desire to see him Lose.Posted August 16, 2013 12:40 pm
“if he could get to 140 and balloon to 172 would it make it right for him to fight at 140?” excuse me, “right”? right has nothing to do with it. whether or not it’s legal and profitable is the question. if you start applying the standard of “right” to boxing there would be no sport left. naïve and unrealistic standard you’re trying to selectively impose on Canelo. Btw, Floyd’s weight is more a matter of him fighting at his walking-around weight, which doesn’t require him to sweat down to 140lbs or 135lbs which happen to be his optimal fighting weights. i thought this was common knowledge among most fight-fans(?).Posted August 16, 2013 12:36 pm
Fight Aficionado – Agreed! They’re focusing more on the fact that Canelo is heavier on THIS 30 day weigh in than he was on the one when he faced Trout, PLUS, he has another 2lbs to lose in this fight…should be interesting. But I think Floyd was banking on this, a heavier Canelo is easier to beat.Posted August 16, 2013 12:33 pm

Not surprsing weights. Floyd always stays in shape outside of scheduled fights and Canelo always blows up. The 14 lbs shouldn’t be a problem, presuming he loses water weight and not muscle.Posted August 16, 2013 12:28 pm
Canelo is in for a royal ass whoopin! Floyd is BANKING on the fact that Canelo will come in really heavy, that just means he’ll be heavier on his feet…thus, easier to hit! Floyd’s gonna destroy this kid, I got Floyd winning via TKO…YES!! TKO within 10Posted August 16, 2013 12:20 pm
@te tumbo it makes perfect sense if he already weighs more than them, the fact that his body can sustain the punishment of shedding the weight for the scale and they can’t doesn’t change anything…if he could get to 140 and balloon to 172 woul it make it right for him to fight at 140? NoPosted August 16, 2013 11:55 am
Weight will be a disadvantage for Canelo. He doesn’t have the skills to box with mayweather so he needs to make it a dog fight. Problem is having to make weight will drain him of the stamina needed to persue such a course of action. Canelo needs to get lucky early and again the weight will make him too slow for that to happen. Look for another long boring PBF ud.Posted August 16, 2013 11:47 am
“This kid Canelo should not be fighting at jr middle or middleweight, he’s already above the middleweight limit”. if that were true, then Ward, Golovkin, or Martinez would easily make 154lbs to face Canelo but they caN’T or woN’T because they ARE actual middleweights. makes no sense to ding fighters who make weight and send formidable prospects like Trout packing with a dominant performance.Posted August 16, 2013 11:45 am
I hate Mayweather and few things would make me happier than seeing him twitching on the canvas after suffering a brutal KO. That aside, he is at serious weight disadvantage here and I give him props for taking this fight. I agree that he’s a cherry picker and has side-stepped matches vs. good fighters who were in the prime, but to call him a coward is ignorant. Repeated blows to the head/brain cause permanent, irrversible damage. Again, permanent, irreversible damage. Cherry picker? Yes. Coward? No.Posted August 16, 2013 10:47 am
