Bill Patrice ; Very good comment , great assessment of Hayes . His only good
win was against Chisora . Ever since then , a lot of fans , even some knowledgable ones , consider him something special . He is NOT ! He is the same con artist that build his H/W career on fighting old hasbeens , no real contenders and when finally faced with a real champion ; showed his true colors ; he did nothing ! True ; he is very fast and he can punch , but his
power is very overrated . He IS a contender , but that is ALL he is .

JJ…Sorry I got it wrong,I was laughing at your quote and not paying attention…..So lets see..it was “FISTS OF RIGHTEOUS FURY”. But you are right I do not like Fury, as a boxer….If that makes me a tool so be it…But your resume of him is to say the least mediocre …Your right about his hand speed though..he didn’t see that punch he hit himself with..now that’s fast !!

JJ

Rich, get it right. The line is ‘Tyson has fists of Righteous Fury’!!, not knowledge.
Serious points now, Tyson Fury has more to offer than you made out initially and he has some talent. You seem blinded by dislike for Fury. He has decent hand speed and stamina for a big man. He has some power. And no, he should not have been disqualified against Cunningham. I doubt Fury will beat Haye on the night, but we shall see.

By having my drive tarmacked by a someone do you mean a traveller or pikey, don’t be afraid of the word, their not….Yes I did have a drive tarmacked by them and a really good job they made of it,so much so that 15yrs later it still looks good…..Is there any more relevant questions on my private life you wish to know…You say I don’t know much, but you have not given one word of boxing opinion except inept quoting that “Tyson has fists of righteous knowledge”…….What does that actually mean….

Bill Patrice Jones …., You are so WRONG!!!

Haye-Fury will be GREAT for Boxing… It will be a massive action fight and the biggest Heavyweight Showdown in many a year in England…

It doesn’t matter if Vitali was injured in the Chisora fight.. He had an uninjured right hand and landed plenty of them to no effect…

In fact NOBODY ever put Chisora down or hurt him before he met up with David Haye.. He’s no fraudster.. Boxing is a tougher game than writing.

I don’t know Rod. The guy fought every #1 contender and also Lennox Lewis. He may be looking for easy fights to call it a career but the guy has fought and in most cases beat the best available in one sided fights. He’s never been on the canvas and has never been behind on the cards in a single fight. He’s what… 42 now or something? I don’t blame him. He was a hell of a fighter that didnt mind eating a few to give a few.

Sorry for all the typos in the last comment. I need to be clear that I’m not saying that I think Haye could beat VK, but only that like other boxers maybe gauging his outcome against a common opponent of him and his possible (VK in this case) opposition.

Posted July 14, 2013 11:15 pm

Smoke and mirrors? The guy talked himself in and out of Klitschko fights but I think we are going a bit far saying Haye was lazy against Wlad(he landed solid shots and didn’t lay down for him or just run and block like everyone else)or smoke and mirrors since he came to heavies. There is always to ways to look at things. Against Wlad, if you don’t fight him cautiously, how the hell else do you fight him?!?!? As far as Chisora, ok, Vitali was hurt will or won’t work. The fact is that it went to the cards and that can not e argued. Another fact is that Haye pounded Chisora out quick. Maybe he was gauging where his skill was comparable to Vitali.

Agree with about 90% of what Bill Patrice Jones said. Haye paid his dues at cruiserweight. Ar heavyweight, he’s been all smoke and mirrors and mugs buy his act. David Haye is only a part-time fighter these days. Chagaev beat Valuev before Haye did and Holyfield probably deserved the decision too. Haye even passed off Audley Harrison as a legitimate challenger when he had the WBA belt and what a farce that was. Vitali was happy against Chisora because he coasted to a comfortable decision in that. I do however reckon Fury vs Haye could be better than some people are making out. Most people expect Haye to stop Fury anyway, so Tyson can come back again if he learns from a defeat. Even better if he makes it interesting or pulls off an upset.

Well I dont see Fury knocking out Haye. If Wladimir couldn’t stop Haye then what can Fury do?

Haye is a fighter that is quick on his feet and moves around a lot. Even against Klitschko he landed some nice shots. And Wlad usually has such an arsenal that once he starts firing off he puts his opponents into a turtle mode and pure defensive. At least Haye was able to get off shots on Wlad.

Will be easier for him to hit Fury I’m guessing. Still I’d like to see what an in shape Fury can do in this fight. I don’t see Fury as having the power to KO Haye though so that may change the dynamics of Haye’s strategy in trading punches.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

Bill Patrice Jones: Wow! That is very accurate assessment of Haye and what’s been going on British HW Boxing for the last several years. Impressive analysis and writing!

My only disagreement with your analysis is that Haye will not beat Fury nearly as easily as you think. The young Giant is coming to fight, will make Haye look like a midget in the ring, and will give him hell. Keep in mind that Fury has never been stopped. He has been knocked down, but never stopped. Big difference!

And because almost everyone in the business expects Haye to win by early KO, Fury’s loss will certainly not derail his young career and make him unmarketable. In fact… if he gives a good account of himself and gives Haye considerable trouble, his stock will rise no matter what. Win or lose.

This is not 30-year-old David Price we’re talking about here.

awful fight for Fury and for boxing. This is just another con job. David Haye is the single most successful and lucrative conman in the history of heavyweight boxing. These words are coming from an analyst who thinks he’s a truly awesome one off type of talent and a potenial victor against a Klitschko. He blurs the lines between sport and sports entertainment so ingeniously it’s a surprise that Vince Mcmahon hasn’t offered him millions to write for WWF. He paid his dues at cruiserweight and from that point on has been a showman making so much money for so little effort it’s absurd. This is just the latest in a long list of mockery matchups which the British public and journalists lap up like thirsty dogs in the buildup and then arrogantly/pompously condemn in the aftermath as though they knew all along. Haye Vs Valuev was a freakshow not a ‘world title bout’. Valuev had lost cleanly to several average heavyweights already by that point including 44 year old Holyfield (who fought much like Haye did). Haye Harrison was the farce of the century which the British media hailed as ‘good for boxing’ and then criticised when it was over. Haye was 50percent showman 50percent competitor with the Klitschkos and although he gave Wladimir his hardest fight since 2005, for all of his talent and all of his talk the effort was lazy. It was only about Haye’s income. Haye Chisora was yet another media frenzied joke of a fight. Chisora’s a domestic level slugger NOTHING MORE who only went the distance with an old Vitali because he was badly injured. It’s hardly like Chisora was in the fight with Vitali for 20seconds of ANY round is it? With Haye it’s theatrics. He is a fraudster who makes more money than any other fighter could dream for fighting so occasionally. Haye Fury is a joke fight. It’s bad for boxing and bad for Fury’s career. Once he’s hopelessly humiliated and made to look a lumbering oaf in 3 rounds he will be damaged goods and totally unmarketable. BIG WASTE of a career. As for Haye? He doesn’t seem to have any title desire or aspiration. It’s just another fat fat fat paycheck. He wont break a sweat and all the media will jump on there ‘I told you so’ anti Haye bandwagon. They should be on it now. This is a joke.

Pulev is the best after wlad in hw but by NO means i consider him as tark says BIG favorite if he fights Thompson he is a favorite in that fight but he is going to have to dig deep to win that fight ….but ny now I think managers wont nothing to do with Thompson because he is so underrated its not even funny!

Yes it would be… Pulev has few fights but more rounds than Price… KP should be a big favorite if that fight can actually come off.

Haye has the best overhand right in the division, and decent timing. Fury is lazy with the jab and keeps his left hand low. That doesn’t stack up well for Fury, who has never really fought tall, leans in and lacks the jab and footwork necessary to control the distance like Wlad can.

Haye by early KO.

Tark – I totally agree with you ! Price is a big talent but really his managers got him the worst match up possible at this point of his carriere …Thompson stoped Krasniqi so easy I was shocked since that fight I was sure that whoever fights Thompson will be in big trouble .

Posted July 14, 2013 5:17 am

TARK

Price lost because it was a stupid matchup…

He had 36 rounds of boxing and Thompson had more fights than Price had rounds. Plus TT is a southpaw, a very tricky style, particularly for green heavyweights. Get this man some rounds and some appropriate fights.

Then Price needs a strength trainer and a conditioning trainer. You have to get rid of the clunkiness and get some spring, life, and power in those legs.. That takes a lot of plyometrics with the help of an expert trainer. Price is as big and tall as a tree, and can hit like an SOB, so it would be worth the effort.

Fury has no chin. He’s been wobbled on numerous occasions, and knocked down by Cunningham, who’s no puncher (and barely a HW). He also got knocked down by Neven Pajkic who has only knocked out 5 fighters in 17 wins! He’s going to get smashed up.

Posted July 14, 2013 4:57 am

Price didnt lose because of stamina he lost from a hard pace action and was slowed down by Thompsons non stop body punches and for those who were saying Thompson who looks old and fat I wonder what they got to say about that now?

Right… He fought those big guys – caught them with really big punches – but didn’t knock them down or out. He might be taken the distance, but he’s a better boxer and puncher now. He’s right at his peak … Fury is a long way from his peak.

Also, he’s got the big guy experience fighting Wlad and being the first one to beat and nearly KO the 7’2″ nanderthal.

That’s a good point Tark. A dec. win is a win no less. I just seriously question not only the level of competition Fury’s team has crafted but his chin; being flattened by Low risk Cunningham. I assume Haye’s power, speed an overall talent to be far superior to anyone Fury has been in the ring with, while Haye has fought the best.

Posted July 13, 2013 11:58 pm

TARK

Haye could win this fight on a decision too… Nothing wrong with that… You can’t knock every 6’9″ X 250lb giant TFO … and it’s not always the smartest thing to try too hard for the KO in a 12 round fight.

Posted July 13, 2013 11:52 pm

Brit-tard Boxing

Haye is the best fighter in the entire world and will KO Fury in the 1st round… then he’ll go on to beat Vitali and then Wlad in a rematch… Haye wobbled and almost knocked Wlad out a couple of different times… This time he’s going to KO Wlad early…Haye will be the new heavyweight champion for years and years to come…

Posted July 13, 2013 11:14 pm

Fury will try to use chairs, bottles, bricks, bats, and golf clubs in the end nothing will stop Fury from getting KTFO.

Posted July 13, 2013 9:52 pm

Fury will try to use his height, size, strength, brawling skills, and whatever he can to get the win… He doesn’t give a crap if the fight is worth the money for the fans… He knows he’ll be rich whatever happens — and if he wins a Klitschko fight will make him richer.

Pulev must be getting really pissed off by now — with his management’s ability to land him a big fight against an appropriate opponent…

He better just fight whoever is willing to get his ass kicked for a paycheck.

After the long and ridiculous Klitschko affair, when Haye threatened to decapitate his opponent, David now should just STFU and let his fists do the talking in the ring. Fury is going to use the Wladimir playbook.. Box from the outside and lean all his weight on Haye when he gets close by grabbing his neck and forcing him down to the canvas… He’s just building up the fight as a slugfest so all the fans will be fooled..

It’ll be jab… grab… hold… lean… referee breaks clinch… repeat sequence of non-events… Unless the referee takes points for excessive grabbing, holding, pushing, wrestling, and other foul Fury tactics.

I can’t beleive so many people think Fury will have a chance, let alone win. David Haye is a trash talker no doubt, and so is Fury. Haye is a much better all round fighter than hide ever was, hide was an ultra aggressive powerfull little heavy, who came to fight….had he been a bigger man it would,ve been interesting, but he wasn,t and came unstuck .
haye, s far more cautious and that makes him a harder man to outbox, for my money haye beats vitali, but will lose against wlad time and time again….because wlad is just as cautious , no scrap that, even more cautious than haye.
Haye will go in for the kill, especially with guys his size…..where as wlad has people on the end of a jab with no fight left in them ( that’s if they had a fight in them to start with) and Still carries On with his super careful approach….that’s why he is so successful.
And I have no gripe with that approach….it’s pretty similar to floyds mentality, and we know it reaps rewards.
Hide was exciting , and had he stuck to guys his size e would,ve had a longer more fruitful career, but as you have said mr Barlow, he chased the big fights that were always gonna be a struggle.
In boxing, as in life, it helps if you know your limits….hide clearly didn,t know his.

On the subject of Herbie Hide, its my opinion this guy could have been the greatest cruiser weight of all time if he had spent his career there instead of chasing the money at heavy weight. I know its not a glamourous division but its where he could have become a all time great. his hand speed and power were off this planet.

Posted July 13, 2013 10:48 am

boxing barlow

Interesting stuff but one thing I will say is that whatever David Hayes says as I fan you should not take a single bit of notice of it! Remember him goading Vlad saying how he was going to turn it into a brawl and knock him out. Then he ran all the way through the fight? Also the way he ran from Valuev? Don’t get me wrong I seriously rate David Haye very highly as a fighter. The issue I have with him though is that I do not feel he is a true heavy weight on todays heavy weight scene. He would be in a similar position to what Herbie Hide were, were it not for the fact that the division is very poor at the minute. Hide was a seriously talented guy but just couldn’t cut it when he stepped in with the likes of Vitali and Bowe. And Haye found this to be the same problem when he stepped up in class to fight a decent heavy weight in Vlad. From Haye’s point of view the worst thing that can happen is that Fury comes on strong from the start. If Fury takes his time and try’s to box he will be completely out skilled by Haye. Fury needs to be on him from the off, using his size and weight advantage to lean all over Haye and drain Hayes energy. If Fury can do this and avoid getting knocked out from round 8 onward Haye’s gonna be struggling. Its a big if I know and my money would be on Haye knocking him out within six rounds, but if Fury can survive from round 6 onwards the fights his for the taking. Haye does not like getting into slugging matches with big guys!

Limey jay

Matthews , I ain’t got no beef with wlad , he has learnt his craft really well.
Why should he take risks, when he is able to win with relative ease against anyone he faces?
The bottom line is he doesn,t……but with his size, speed, power, and superior skills….he could blow out the heavyweight division with style and pure aggression all within a couple of rounds, obviously this would make him more vulnerable, and he doesn,t need to do it….but it would get rid of the ” boring” label that some pin on him.
I guess he is not that way as a person, and this is why he is such a great champion.
Tyson fury on the other hand is the polar opposite, he gets involved when he doesn,t need to, he fights small at times, and doesn,t. Use his size as an advantage…..I guess it makes for more exciting fights for sure….but unless he gets a bit more discipline he will fall short of his ambitions.
Haye is a small heavyweight, but he is dangerous, wlad wasn,t prepared to take risks to get the K.O he said he,d deliver…..haye too failed to get the K.O he said he,d deliver.
As far as I,m concerned both guys failed to cash the cheques their mouths wrote…but haye gets all the flak.
Everyone knew or should have known haye was gonna struggle, I guess some believed his claims, and feel duped by him, therefore feeling a bit silly they turned on David and proclaimed him a bum/phoney/all talk….that’s not the case as far as I,m concerned.
He is still a very dangerous guy among the heavies, but was just beaten by a bigger better fighter in wlad…..no shame in that.
The toe thing just made matters worse for David, and his stock fell….and quite rightly so, it was a silly thing to say after such a tame fight.
Fury vs haye may go some way at earning redemption for David, and I hope that it’s a entertaining fight as us fans need to see someone worthy of a shot at wlad.

Don’t like either one of these guys. Pains me to say it, but I hope Haye smokes Fury. This is a huge step up for Fury, and I doubt he will have an answer for it. He got rocked twice by Cunningham, and he is lacking in the power department. Wonder if Fury will ever get in the ring with someone his own size, or if he will continue to be the “neighborhood bully”, and pick on all the smaller kids? If nothing else, this should be entertaining while it lasts. Watching Fury fight is like watching a drunken monkey try to f### a football.

Haye comes in for serious stick on this site, some of it is justified, but most is way overboard.
As far as I,m concerned his only crime is saying what he was gonna do to wlad and not following through….which when you strip it down is not much of a crime really.
Plenty of others have tasted wlads power….and disappeared into a shell till the inevitable K.O.
I watched the fight again yesterday, and haye tried to land, mostly with desperate lunging shots from a little to far away, but make no mistake, wlad was not at all prepared to exchange, and take any sort of risk either.
Two defensive fighters both saying they were gonna knock each other out, and neither delivered…..made a pretty non event of a fight.
Of course haye didn,t have many ( if any at all ) overseas fans prior to the fight, and I get it, he is a bit flash and not to everyone’s liking, to be fair he isn,t on my list of favourite fighters, but he is a decent fighter , with dangerous power , and gets ridiculed way too much.
I think a lot of his detractors are caught up in a bit of pantomime with him.
As for fury….well we just don’t know yet do we, whatever happens in the haye fight will give us a better idea, but he is so young for a heavyweight , he has plenty of time to repair his career should he lose.
I,m expecting a very entertaining fight, Tyson will not let David have a lazy night, I think it will be a be a different test for haye, I still expect a win for him as I can’t see tysons chin holding up to Hayes bombs, but he will make a fight of it, and this is the heavies , so you never know.

People say Fury was scared at the press conference because he wore sunglasses. I disagree. Tyson Fury isn’t used to all the media attention this fight brings and he also knows these things can have a tendency to kick off. Fury and Haye are both volatile, so Fury was trying to keep cool. There will more opportunities to face off before they fight. There’s 2 and a half months to go before the bout. I hope it’s a great fight and it may not be as one-sided as some people think.

God’s P.A

Listen… Tyson Fury means business, serious business! He will go down in history as the greatest fighter of all the weight divisions ever! He is the Bigger man, the Better man! And lads, I got this Red Hot Tip off the 1 and only (God).

David’s little toe

Hiya, I’m David Haye’s little toe. If David and I lose this fight, we might have to go back to the Celebrity Jungle and eat bugs again!

Haye schools this lumbering hulk. Never seen anything special in Fury apart from his size he looks clumsy and raw. Haye stops him same way as Chisora and Harrison.

ha ha talked this same crap before his shot at WK then floped on the canvas 14 times and blamed it all on his toe

staring with sunglasses on??? how do you that? he did not even want to do a faceoff with haye. fury is nervous. if he fights like all his other fights, he will walk into a wall. a brawl will get fury ko’ed. hey, fury might have the best chin in the business. we, all, might be wrong.

I would love to see them trash talk each other for two hourse. This could be more entertaining than the fight.

Haye is scared, and blabbing to cover up his fear of Fury. Fear of Fury. Write that one down…………….FEAR OF FURY…………….
………………………………….Haye’s Fear of Fury.

If Fury fights big, like he realized he had to in the USS Fight after getting knocked down, then he roughs up Toe Jam and takes Haye to the cleaners.
Haye is going to get pushed around and bullied and roughed up and maybe thrown out of the ring. By the end of the fight he will need a new permanent done to his hair because Fury is going to knock the knots off his hair. And the snot out his nose, and the crap out his arse!! Haye is the complete Bull Shatter and obnoxious a hole. He is too short to hang with Fury and will not even get off a jab cause his arms are too short. Wild Haymakers will have him flying about the ring and he will look quite the amateur. Those of you tards that think the HW Division is dead should tune this one in for some entertainment.

Fury is going to rough up this punk. If it goes past 6 then Haye gasses out and gets KTFO. Fury beats Toe Jam Haye in this fight. Haye is scared.

Fists of Fuzzy

Haye will KO Tyson so hard that Baby Hughie will wake up sore. This is a mismatch.

Haye said to Sky Ringside “If it goes past the 6th round, you’ve taken the biggest beating anyone’s ever had to take. If he’s doing what he’s saying he’s doing and just walks across the ring and impose his size on me, it’ll probably be another Vladimir Klitchko ending. I’ll knock him out when I want to knock him out, whichever round I choose. The same way I done with [Dereck] Chisora, the same way I done with Klitchko.”

somehow i think it will be round 25.

By the time Haye finishes with Fury, his name will be Tyson Tranquility.

Fury’s younger cousin Hughie just pounded out a 5th round win in Dundalk, Ireland. Baby Hughie remains undefeated in his first 7 fights. I wonder if they’ll put Hughie on the Fury-Haye undercard.

THE REAL AMERICAN OAK

It would be a drag if Haye is just yakking like he did with the Klitch. He was embarrasing. He is a loud mouth whiner and a jag off POS. That said he should kick Fury’s as s.

I’d laugh if Haye got tagged hard early….
Other than that, I could care less. Have a pint on me England :)

Prof Konje

The article says it all. Fury is a loud mouth joke. I don’t especially like Haye, but I love him in this fight. I never wanted to see any fighter hurt, but there’s something about Fury that is repulsive and he really needs a good, solid, painful beating.
