“Saying “Tyson did not have an Aura”” Actually, it was Tyson’s reputation as a heavy duty, dangerous knockout artist that had opponents like Spinks shaking in their boots. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a boxer more afraid of Mike Tyson than Michael Spinks was. Spink’s fear KOd him before the fight even started.

Personally I don’t think it’s all bad for Khan. Like I mentioned before, Khan has the foot and hand speed to keep him from getting into heated exchanges at close range. With the skill set he has he should be more of a in and out fighter, move, strike and move, don’t wait for your opponent to throw back. he is fast enough to do this against the likes of Garcia, Peterson but I fear any level fighter above B he will run into trouble.

Khan looked horrible in this fight. Maybe he was trying to hard to impress, but instead he just looked like a drunk in a bar. It was a damn exciting fight though, I’ll give him that.

What a waste, this Amir Khan is.

Posted April 30, 2013 1:27 pm

Edgar Guevara

Ward trainer can not make any changes in Khans body. Khan has a lot defects in his boxing skills. He has been lucky to win titles. He has shown weak chin. That is a big problem in boxing, if you don’t have that, you will visit the floor until you lose and lose. Khan the road is over.

Posted April 30, 2013 12:59 pm

Would be a waste of fight. The are rumors pointin that Khan was knocked down in a training session.

Posted April 30, 2013 8:22 am

Tark, you are a TERRIBLE fool “why would anyone taller and 20 pounds heavier fear Tyson” why not ask Berbick and all the OTHER bigger guys he intimidated and knocked out that question? Buster fought the fight of his life good on him, and he was KNOCKED out by the talented though less fearsome Holyfield in 3 rounds then next fight…Saying “Tyson did not have an Aura” simply means you were NOT watching boxing back then… Michael Spinks is one of the GREATEST LHW Champions in history and his wins over Larry Holmes (controversial) were historic, when he got in the ring with Tyson who he physically matched up with favorably (6″3 to Tysons 5″10) he was frozen and got starched in 90 seconds… Tyson had one hell of an aura at a certain point and the nervous opponents he laid waste to attest to that fact…

Khan is a hype and like all hypes he has been found out. I’d like to see Garcia vs Broner or Lucas. M vs Broner even Lucas vs Garcia. What ant Broner vs the winner of Marguez vs TB?

Posted April 30, 2013 4:16 am

I don’t think Mr. Khan can do it. His chin is worse than I’d ever imagined… seemingly worse now… and the new style he’s using hurts him… it actually makes him more vulnerable. He’s kinda done.

Posted April 30, 2013 2:59 am

Big Al

I hope Garcia doesn’t do it. Khan is undeserving and has more unfinished business with other fighters. Angel Garcia is basically correct: if Amir would have won that fight he wouldn’t have given Danny a rematch.

Posted April 30, 2013 12:14 am

He won some belts made some money what more do you need, if he wants to stay in the game he either needs to learn defense or learn to time and throw your punches harder. It seems even in the exchanges were he gets of a hard shot first the return shot always wobbles him..

Posted April 29, 2013 11:50 pm

Khan needs to UP his Defense ALOT. His Defense is SO POOR that he needs ENTIRE training sessions dedicated to Defense only…. I’d make him spar with his Offense being illegal and have him wear 10 pound shoes to force him to learn how to defend without RUNNING. Go watch some tapes of Canelo vs Trout. Learn how to slip and duck punches. It has to DO with your ability to sense, feel, and see punches COMING….The punches that you dont see, sense, or feel coming are the ones that hurt you the MOST. Therefore you need to GO and learn how to see, sense, and feel them coming. Its not rocket science. Its Boxing….Watch more Floyd Mayweather tapes.

Khan is a joke, he would get eaten up by Garcia again, Garcias a far superior fighter, he’d shatter that british glass again.

Props to Khan — if he goes after the rematch. Shows he wants to correct that loss that derailed things. Note that’s something he didn’t do with Prescott.

Khan v Garcia = Khan getting KTFO! Garcia is too tough and gritty for the sloppy, chinny Brit. If Garcia could take flush left hands from Judah, then Khan has nothing to offer.

Posted April 29, 2013 8:38 pm

Tark, you are too stupid to understand the inference and to his credit Tyson created a NICE gap between knockouts and his next one was to a World Class ATG… Tyson certainly dealt with foes who did not have see him as the unbeatable force he was prior to being stopped by a guy of Douglas character… It was more of a commentary on the starting point of dominance Tyson enjoyed vs that of Khan who has been suspected chinny since Prescott and has fullfilled that reputation by being buzzed and KOed again before he had 30 fights… Tyson made it to what 37 fights before he was clobbered by Douglas? The bulk of Khans relevant career has had the specter of his WEAK chin over it and guys will be attacking him with a CLEAR objective…Diaz KNEW he had a shot because he was in the ring with Amir Khan a guy who is a KNOWN shaky fighter who is NOT himself a BIG puncher….

Posted April 29, 2013 7:36 pm

Jay rock

He needs to fight someone else other then Danny or the other latin dude who is going to kill Patterson soon, khan is as trash as his name

Posted April 29, 2013 7:21 pm

I like Amir Khan’s heart, but his chin is so bad that he can never be an elite fighter. Floyd doesn’t have a great chin but he survived that one shot from Mosley and that other one from Cotto. Can you imagine Khan getting those shots? You have to be able to take a decent shot.

Matthysse could knock out Khan with a punch that doesn’t fully connect. Listen to Zab, Matthysse hits way harder than Garcia.

Posted April 29, 2013 7:06 pm

Goodbye, Khan. It was nice watching you get knocked out for good this time. SMH…

Posted April 29, 2013 7:02 pm

Yeah, Khan gets knocked out by Garcia

Posted April 29, 2013 6:25 pm

We ALL want the Danny Garcia fight, cos we all wanna see Khan movin’ like Bernie again.

Posted April 29, 2013 5:59 pm

Say what you like about Amir Khan but his handspeed and combinations are excellent. He is also, to my mind, the pound for pound king when it comes to running and skipping around the ring backwards.

Posted April 29, 2013 5:29 pm

SREDMOND= You hit it right on the nail. The biggest difference with Khan now is that everybody fighting him now that if they can touch him they can knock him out, and they’ll be hunting for his chin non stop. He’ll still be able to beat some guys, but guys who can take a punch and hit hard enough (basically all the top guys at the top at 140) will put pressure until they bust his pipes.

Posted April 29, 2013 4:52 pm

khan needs to work his way back up, he doesn’t really seem too relevent these days, the struggle with diaz didn’t win him any points imo….nosiiiir!

Posted April 29, 2013 4:05 pm

Ko artist

Bottom line is Amir doesn’t have a boxers mind. He is blessed with physical skills in his speed and athleticism. However, he can’t think for himself. Saturday was the worst performance I have seen from him. It’s like he doesn’t know what to do himself, and is confused about what type of fighter he is or should be. This time you could see him feeling like his old style, but thinking about how to use his new training. It just wasn’t natural. Basically, the only difference with his new trainer on Saturday was that instead of throwing 4 or 5 combos, he threw 1 or 2 then moved back a bit. That’s it. And he still stands straight up with a peekaboo style. He needs to move and twist a little more from the waist.

Posted April 29, 2013 3:49 pm

the writer of this article is obviously a khan hater its so bitter, with all his flaws i really like khan, his fights are always exciting, he gives 100%, he doest avoid anyone, and is a genuine guy who is good for the sport. true he might be coming to the end after that showing, but i would like to think he has another big win in him yet.

Posted April 29, 2013 3:24 pm

Please give Khan what he want and get him Garcia so we can watch him get knocked out again. Khan is going nowhere. He can’t change his style and habits he has developed. Plus, he has that glass jaw that breaks every time he get hit. Khan, it’s time for you to retire for good! Someone please make the fight.

Posted April 29, 2013 2:19 pm

Im a british fight fan and as much as like to watch Amir Khan’s fights, Im a realist. He’s great viewing and is always in a climatic fight; be it win, lose or draw….But i can’t see him beating one of the top dogs in the division. He’s a sort of gate keeper for the elite in the 140 division, Get past Khan and you can be a world champ. The recent fight against Diaz proved that Khan hasnt improved any and can still be hit with left counters and be shaken badly thoughout a fight. I’d dread for him to step between the ropes with Lucas Matthysse. He’d possibly cause him some permanent damage.

Posted April 29, 2013 1:05 pm

After the Diaz fight it is clear Virgil Hunter hasn’t done anything to help Khan change his ways.

Posted April 29, 2013 12:58 pm

Guys are looking for some sort of silver lining because Khan survived BIG deal he survived Maidana who is a younger, and fresher danger than Diaz and he STILL learned nothing and went on to get knocked out by Garcia… FACT is Khan is still the SAME fighter he is NOT improving that Molina bout got some people thinking he was a revamped talent after a few weeks with Hunter…. Hunter will most likely be the 3rd coach to preside over an Amir Khan KO loss…

Posted April 29, 2013 12:30 pm

I think Khan’s team should steer clear of Danny Gacia!

Posted April 29, 2013 11:45 am

Garcia KO’s Khan even quicker next time around….Khan has all the tools, but man, he has NO chin. My 8 year old sister probably takes a better punch than him.

Posted April 29, 2013 11:43 am

Hidalgo, Khan won against Diaz because Diaz was an 8-1 underdog… Khan was supposed to be able to handle Diaz with greater EASE than that in fact Khan is going BACKWARDS when I think about it… NO ONE would consider Diaz a more vetted or better talent than Judah and Khan handled the FASTER (than Diaz) Judah more easily than he did Diaz…. Khan is NOT 22 anymore, for a WW fighter 26 is old enough to establish yourself as a stable talent… Khan has had 3 trainers already, Freddy Roach who has done terrific work with others and he was stopped, whomever he was with when Prescott nuked him, and now he is with Hunter and he is struggling with perceived SOFT touches… AGAIN I like Khan but that is NOT going to blind me to the truth, he is simply a guy who is NOT living up to the prior hype and his style was better suited to the Olympics where alot of scoring blows and few KO’s were the order of the day…. Guys in the pro’s seek to hurt and there is a BULLSEYE on Khans Chin about a mile wide that every 140-147 pound fighter will be seeking to exploit….

Posted April 29, 2013 11:23 am

Khan would get slaughtered at 147 or 154 thats utter suicide for a guy with his fragile chin…There are BETTER 140 pounders than him who could not make it at 147 or 154…. Tim Bradley has looked terrible at 147 against Pacquiao and Provodnikov…. Bradley is a TOUGHER fighter than Khan and he has not prospered above 140…. Khan would NEVER last with Guerrero, Berto and certainly NOT Mayweather or Pacquiao… Khan needs to seek stability at 140 the guy cannot get past a fight with Julio Diaz absent DRAMA and trips to the canvas…Khans fun for boxing, he has become a jester of sorts, overestimating his abilities then falling short against LESS than Great competition… ie “I am a threat to Mayweather” but I cannot get past Peterson, Garcia or stay on my feet against Julio Diaz…. He certainly makes for fun fights, hes a good looking kid he should fight till 30 bank his money and consider another line of work…

Posted April 29, 2013 11:15 am

please let him fight garcia again and get ko’d again so he and all his nutsackgarglers can shut up. he like all other brits have no chin. bye bye. :)

Posted April 29, 2013 11:12 am

“Dude has had enough title fights not to be consistently looking to his corner for advise liek he’s done in every fight since getting bombed out by Bredis Prescott…. ” This is a confidence issue which Hunter is helping Khan to rebuild. It is clear that Khan wants to please Hunter. And it’s clear that Hunter wants Khan to be a champion again. Don’t be so picky TJ–there was a lot of good things that Khan did in his fight against Diaz. That’s why he won.

Posted April 29, 2013 11:01 am

“Amir doesn’t posses the boxing acumen to be able to live with the elite fighters at 140/147 or 154….” TJ, we’ll find out for sure in December–if he does get a championship fight. One thing for certain about Amir, he doesn’t just want to fight. He really wants to be champion again. The kid has a lot of desire and heart. Let’s give Virgil and Amir a chance. They got one more in December.

Posted April 29, 2013 10:59 am

“Khan is shot big time and you can hear it in his speech also…. ” Really? What exactly did you hear? He is English, you know.

Posted April 29, 2013 10:56 am

“Prescott is more dangerous than Julio Diaz IMO” Mad Scientist, Prescott is a non-entity in Khan’s career at this point. Prescott himself hasn’t been impressive over the last two years. There’s no need for Amir to fight him again. Khan is at a higher level. No need to step down.

Posted April 29, 2013 10:55 am

I meant to say that Diaz was nothing more than a training fight for Khan, against a bigger, dangerous guy. Khan won that bout decisively.

Posted April 29, 2013 10:53 am

The Mad Scientist

Prescott is more dangerous than Julio Diaz IMO..its almost safe to assume A mere Con is done at the top level, no way any trainer can change that..

Posted April 29, 2013 10:40 am

Sorry Khan, you have to wait in line. Garcia has too much serious business to take care of before knocking you out again. He’s got Peterson/Mathysse winner, Alvarado/Rios iii winner, possibly Broner or Marquez. Why don’t you go ahead and fight Prescott now? Surely he’s looked bad enough lately that you can beat him now.

Posted April 29, 2013 10:15 am

LOL at Traveller. Khan wouldn’t last 4 rounds with Matthysse.

Posted April 29, 2013 10:08 am

Garcia is the WRONG fight for Khan at this point… Khan thinks he can reclaim what was lost when he got knocked out by Garcia… He had better try and learn to stay on his feet… Khan is NOT a big puncher but somehow he thinks he is, another loss and he is pretty much under the jail at this point… He better try some more soft touches with Hunter again, but then again Diaz had him in trouble being an 8-1 underdog… Who exactly is safe for Khan at this point? Malignaggi again? Khans a fun fighter but he is vulnerable in the ring against ANYONE who can punch…

Posted April 29, 2013 9:22 am

Who is this Khan…Since when is Khan calling the shots. Khan has already had several devastating loses and why is he being made out to be some kind of potent figure in the sport?? I don’t get it. Who is Khan in bed with to be getting any fights? First came the blame game with Freddy Roach…now what the excuses?!!

Posted April 29, 2013 9:10 am

Garcia wont fight Khan .Garcia was losing that fight till the lucky neck punch landed. If Dioaz was just a mediocre fighter how did he get 23 world titles.?

Posted April 29, 2013 8:41 am

The sad fact of the matter is Diaz was carefully picked out to provide Khan with another confidence-building, walk-in-the-park type of fight… But of course it proved nothing of the sort, with the same old shortcomings exposed again. There are two possible reasons for Khan making such heavy weather of the Diaz fight. One, team Khan grossly underestimated Diaz. This isn’t impossible, but seems unlikely; while Khan himself almost invariably looks through his opponents to the next fight, you’d think that (in these post-Prescott days especially) his team are much more mindful of the risk of careless matchmaking. Two, Khan simply isn’t as good as everyone is pushing / expecting him to be. Token credit still due of course; a win’s a win, and still an exciting fight. But while Khan’s future may be entertaining, you just can’t see it beng altogether successful.

Posted April 29, 2013 8:21 am

Bomb Squaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

Khan should avoid Garcia, it will be a career ending fight!!
Instead he should chase a rematch with IBF champion Lamont Peterson as he was robbed by a hometown decision

Posted April 29, 2013 7:41 am

He’s hoping beyond hope that Garcia wins this little four-man tournament (to decide a winner who deserves a match up with Amir Khan, what a joke in itself) so that team Khan don’t have to go looking for an excuse to avoid Matthyse. Khan should rematch Diaz in the meantime at the time when Garcia mees the winner of Matthyse and Peterson (Matthyse, obviously).

Posted April 29, 2013 6:57 am

I thought roach did a better job with Kahn the fact is you can’t teach him defence and his footwork is poor the best thing for him to do is punch and move. If he throws his flurries and moves he is safest standing and trading is not an option he will never be the finished article the best they can do is utilise the skills he does have

Posted April 29, 2013 5:37 am

The Mad Scientist

Dan D yes, A mere Con needs to start avenging his losses starting at the bottom with Prescott.

Posted April 29, 2013 5:11 am

Neil I agree. Khan seems to be a sucker for the left hook and Garcia has a hell of a hook. He would knock him out again. He has a lot of work to do.

Posted April 29, 2013 4:57 am

Mick the Marmalizer

Garcia/Peterson makes more sence at this time.

Posted April 29, 2013 4:21 am

This guy is already punch-drunk at 25. they are few fighters today at top level who has taken more punishment than Khan. Virgil Hunter in my view has made Khan into an even worse fighter. Hunter think he is a great trainer, but it is all because he has a great fighter in Ward.

Posted April 29, 2013 3:18 am

Neil (Pomy)

I like Khan, but I think Garcia would stop him again. Would be another great fight though …. id watch it.

AMIR KHAN, Danny SWIFT Garcia will walk you down once again and break you down, to the point where you will be rescued by the referee….

Garcia didn’t shine against Zab, because despite his advanced years Zab has a better boxing brain than you, when he chooses to use it, is a better all round fighter, when he chooses to use it and is trickier, when he chooses to use it.

Amir doesn’t posses the boxing acumen to be able to live with the elite fighters at 140/147 or 154….

He has heart and an unshakeable belief that he is better than he actually is, but in reality there are three ways to dismantle Amir – the Dinamita way, which is to punch with him and use the better accuracy and short, straight shots to beat him to the punch…..

Then, there is the way that the likes of Garcia and Peterson have shown us, which is to walk Amir down, to the point where he has nowhere to go, except stand and trade and finally there is the way that Diaz attempted sporadically, which is to work Amir consistently to the body and then come upstairs with uppercuts or rights and hooks over the top….

The only way for Amir to break this cycle it to work on his balance, which is awful as he lunges in at the end of his combinations , opening him up to be countered after he throws his shots and falls into his opponent.

Dude has had enough title fights not to be consistently looking to his corner for advise liek he’s done in every fight since getting bombed out by Bredis Prescott…. He should instibnctively know what to do when he gets in the ring!

Posted April 29, 2013 2:35 am

Dan D

Used to like Khan but his big head just does nothing for his image. Diaz had him in all sorts of trouble and it didn’t look good for him. On the positives, when hurt he fought smarter than he has done previously and clinched when he needed and bought time. It was a more mature performance. Khan really needs to start avenging his defeats, starting with Prescott.

Posted April 29, 2013 2:34 am

LMFAO!! Patience is a virtue KID. Please learn something about it. You’re not ready yet….I can see where you’re coming from though since you beat Judah more dominantly….but the actual matchup always trumps comparing Fights vs. similar opponents .. you only refer to the similar opponents when the actual matchup hasn’t taken place. Garcia already had tweety birds flying in a circle around your head.
