Toney is shot… I don’t care if he can still beat somebody’s sister… This was one of the 10 best boxers of all time when he was middleweight champ. He had the best middleweight chin ever. He had the first legitimate win over Mike McCallum. He fought Reggie Johnson, Michael Nunn, and Mike McCallum in a space of 6 months..

It’s a dirty shame when great fighters can’t find a good financial guy to help with investment decisions. They just keep fighting until they drop because it’s the only job they can get, and their investment guys take all their money.

Toney couldn’t do what Mike Tyson is doing because not a soul can understand a word that he says. Toney is what’s wrong with Boxing.

Easy fight for James Toney. Toney’s not as shot as everyone thinks. When a name guy is totally shot everyone will line up to fight him that’s not going on with Toney. He’s not what he was but still better than most heavyweights.

The writer engaged in a bit of revisionist history. Toney was not a heavyweight champion — he cheated and disgraced the sport. In fact he was caught twice. Like many old fighters before him, he has become a sideshow attraction and nothing more. This fight will tell us nothing about Browne unless he loses. Toney had his day and it has passed.

Box on

Had to laugh at the sparring a juiced up heavyweight b4 Ruiz fight against a super middleweight and I had green winning by the end , also Lucas brown is garbage so should be a close one

Mia, I think you are confused. Toney looks like a chinese Buddha or a Japanese sumo wrestler. You have to venture out of those red neck hillbilly overnight camps occasionally.

Prove `em wrong, Toney!

THE worse thing to happen to boxing. A has been MMA guy comes to boxing to KO a former champion boxer in the latter’s own venue. REally sick for boxing fans.

Wow, I had no idea that James Toney had ever been the “super-cruiserweight champion” Was he so good that they just retired the belt after he lost it?

James “Fridge Light’s Out” Toney! The guys doesn’t lack confidence. Common sense, vocabulary, the ability to speak… sure he lacks those, but his self-esteem makes up for such petty shortcomings.

OK, so who interpreted what Toney had to say?

what a lousy article claiming both this guys are heavyweight champions…………….

If Toney loses to this bloke he should jack it in
But he won’t

Saw a You Tube interview with him again recently when he just beat Mike McCallum for Middleweight title defence and was screaming for burger king
His speech since then has become very slurred and slow

He is an accident waiting to happen

Yeah some bloodbath after the first round sparring which Toney schooled Green. Then Green took Toney apart with pure heart and determination. Anyway, Toney must be getting top dollar for this fight as he will end up on his back, seeing stars. Lucas Browne is too strong and Toney has gotten too old. This could prove to permanently damage Toney physically and mentally.

Wonder if Toney wins would Brown try to get him to fight MMA with him?

Where the hell is the bloodbath in that sparring session. JT outweighs DG by 40lbs and it’s the first time I seen him spar someone his own height. He shoulda stopped Green, even with headgear.

James Toney was one of my favourite fighters back in his best days but to be honest here – James Toney never won a recognised world heavyweight title. The IBA title doesen’t count for no one recognises that belt a s amajor one and his win against John Ruiz back in 2005 was ruled as a No Contest due to Toney was tested positive for steroids and was forced to give back the WBA world title belt to John Ruiz and based on that WBA ruled that James Toney is not recognised by them as an former holder of the title belt, sad but true so Toney never became an true/recognised world heavyweight champion. He also never became an recognised world light heavyweight champion either as his WBU title is the same story as the IBA title – NOT an recognised world title belt and he like in his heavyweight days never conqerd one of the major ones, WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO or the Ring world title belt. Sad but true. James Toney is an former recognised middleweight, super middleweight and cruiserweight world champion and that is still great and note this – I wanted Toney to become an true light heavyweight and heavyweight world champion but he never made it to fully defeat an recognised champion.
