LEGENDARY BOXING ANNOUNCER AL BERNSTEIN TO HONOR LOCAL YOUTH PROGRAM
Showtime’s Al Bernstein visits the ABC boxing gym, a youth program founded by Boxing Champion Archie Moore.
Al Bernstein, the dean of boxing announcers and journalists, will visit the Any Body Can (ABC) program Tuesday July 10, to pay tribute to the late boxing great Archie Moore and his son Billy Moore, who runs the only gym in San Diego with its own library and learning center for underprivileged children and teens.
Mr. Bernstein will visit with the boys and girls at ABC, and will be available for media interviews. His newest book includes anecdotes about Archie Moore and other boxing luminaries. The book, “30 Years, 30 Undeniable Truths about Boxing, Sports and TV”, gives readers a unique and entertaining view on the history of sports broadcasting and reflects on the past, present and future of boxing. It is available at http://j.mp/albernstein
“I am so happy to be able to come back to San Diego and again lend support to the Anybody Can Foundation”, Bernstein says. “The work that Archie Moore started and his son Billy and great ABC Board continue is very special. So many youngsters have received life changing help from the ABC Foundation, and many more will in the future”.
Mr. Bernstein has been a sports broadcaster for more than 30 years and has been inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame for his long history of announcing, analysis and support for the sport of boxing.
