by Joseph Webb: On the 26th of may will take place a fight that which I think could be a contender for fight of the year at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham UK. Between Carl Froch (28 2 0 Ko20 ) the former 2x WBC super middleweight champion. And Lucian Bute (30 0 0 Ko24) the current IBF super middleweight champion.
This fight is shaping up to be a real classic that could make or brake them both. Froch is coming off a loss to arguable the best super middleweight in the world Andre ward in the super six final. Throughout the super six tournament Froch mostly fought away from home apart from one fight against Andre Dirrell which was in Nottingham. So it will be good for him to be fighting back in his hometown and he may also need the home advantage in this fight. On the other hand Bute will be entering the lions den and fighting a guy in his hometown for this first time depending on how the fight will go it will tell us a lot about Bute.
Froch has got plenty of experience fighting at top level something that Bute doesn’t. His striking abilities are very awkward which will help him in this fight not knowing where are a punch is coming from can course real problems from your opponent and his best asset is that granite chin of his which has been tested time and time again.
Bute will be making his 10th defence of his IBF strap since winning the belt Bute has fought some decent fighters but no one who really stands out, the best fighter he’s fought is glen Johnson who at 43 isn’t what he used to be. So to say he’s a champion Carl Froch will be a step up for Bute and a true top contender and the toughest person he has fought in his career. Bute dose have the tools to beat Froch, And his speed will play a big part in this fight catching him with the jab but will his biggest challenge be fighting in the other guys hometown?
I’m unsure on the outcome of the fight I really think it’s a 50/50 fight an could go either way but I’m edging just slightly to Froch with him having the more experience and having the home advantage. But with this fight i think the fans are the real winners.
