On Wednesday, March 7, four-time New York Golden Gloves Champion, Will “Power” Rosinsky (14-1, 8KO’s) will be returning to where he made his professional debut when he takes on Zane “The Train” Marks (17-6, 10KO’s) in the co-feature bout on the latest installment of DiBella Entertainment’s Broadway Boxing series at BB King Blues Club and Grill in midtown Manhattan. Rosinsky-Marks is scheduled for eight rounds in the light heavyweight division. Headlining the card will be undefeated welterweight prospect Alex Perez (15-0, 9KO’s) taking on former NABF junior welterweight champion Francisco “El Gato” Figueroa (20-3-1, 13KO’s).
For the Queens-native Rosinsky, he will be entering the ring coming off the first loss of his professional career. Rosinsky last saw action in October of last year, dropping a highly competitive and entertaining 10-round decision to undefeated Edwin Rodriguez on SHOWTIME’s ShoBox series. Going into the fight, many felt that Rodriguez, who is ranked as high as number three in the IBF super middleweight world ratings, was going to blow through Rosinsky, but Rosinsky gave him all he could handle in what turned out to be one of the better fights to be aired on SHOWTIME in all of 2011. Rosinsky is now looking to get back to his winning ways as he hopes to position himself back into a major fight in 2012.
“Training camp has been great for this fight, I’m already on weight and ready to go,” said Rosinsky. “I have put the last fight behind me and am ready to go. I can’t sit and dwell on things. Instead I am just focusing on getting a fight with one of the other top guys in the sport so I can prove myself. I’m so excited to be fighting back at home in New York City and at the same place that I made my pro debut. It is always a pleasure to fight in New York. We have the best fans in the world!”
The card is promoted by DiBella Entertainment as part of its “Broadway Boxing” series and will be aired tape-delayed on SNY. Doors open at 6:30PM with the first bout scheduled for 7:30PM.
Garrett Wilson vs. Andres Taylor on April 14 at Bally’s Atlantic City
Atlantic City, NJ—Garrett Wilson, of Philadelphia, PA, and Andres Taylor, of Johnstown, PA, meet for the second time in less than 19 months as they battle for the vacant North American Boxing Federation (NABF) cruiserweight title on Saturday evening, April 14, at Bally’s Atlantic City.
The Wilson-Taylor championship contest tops a seven-bout card which begins at 7.30 pm. in the 1,500-seat Grand Ballroom.
Wilson (right) and Taylor met the first time on Sept. 11, 2010, in Johnstown, PA, in a scheduled eight-round fight which Wilson accepted on three days’ notice. The outdoor match was interrupted by rain after the fifth round and later resumed with one official voting for Wilson, one for Taylor, one for a draw.
Since then, Wilson, 29, has beaten Aaron Williams, of Las Vegas, NV; Omar Sheika, of Paterson, NJ; Chuck Mussachio, of Wildwood, NJ, and Pedro Martinez, of Philadelphia, PA. He captured the United States Boxing Association (USBA) cruiserweight title by beating Sheika and defended it against Mussachio.
Wilson is 12-5-1, 6 K0s. He is rated No. 9 in the world by the International Boxing Federation (IBF), No. 23 by the World Boxing Council (WBC). He tuned up for this fight on Feb. 25 by stopping Martinez in three rounds at Bally’s.
Taylor, 33, also has not lost since fighting Wilson, earning decisions over Rayshawn Myers, of Cleveland, OH; Kamarah Pasley, of Philadelphia, PA; Mike Alderete, of Albuquerque, NM, and Gary Gomez, of Salt Lake City, UT.
A pro less than four years, Taylor is 20-1-2, 7 K0s. and rated No. 33 by the WBC. His last fight was Nov. 23, 2010, in Pittsburgh, PA, when he out-pointed Gomez over eight rounds.
Taylor (above) suffered his only pro loss in 2009 when Leo Bercier, of Great Falls, MT, out-pointed him in Campbell, OH. Taylor avenged the loss three months later, also on points, in Johnstown, PA.
There are no common foes.
Taylor has gone eight rounds on three different occasions. Wilson has gone 12 rounds twice.

LONNIE SMITH IS READY TO FIGHT VINCENTE ESCOBEDO IN WOODLAND, CA THIS SATURDAY
Februrary 28th, 2012, Las Vegas — Super-featherweight prospect “El Negro Mexicano” Lonnie Smith (14-2-2, 10 KOs) will face off against former world title challenger Vicente Escobedo (24-3, 14 KOs) on March 3rd in Woodland, CA for the WBO NABO Jr. Lightweight Title. The Smith vs. Escobedo bout is scheduled for ten rounds and will headline Telefutura’s Solo Boxeo Series (check local listings).
This is by far the most important fight in Lonnie Smith’s career. Even after a string of bout fall-outs, nothing deterred him from continuing to work hard in the gym. The 24 year old is excited and prepared for this opportunity.
“I’m a gym rat that doesn’t stop working.” Says Smith. “I have been focused and working very hard. This fight means everything.”
Smith is known for his action-packed fighting style. Although he promises to always deliver excitement in the ring, he is looking forward to showing boxing fans the improvements he has made in the gym.
“I hope that the people who have seen me fight before see the growth and maturity in my fighting style. I believe I have come a long way from just being a puncher. I am dedicated to improving my craft each fight.”
Smith lives in Las Vegas and trains with Skipper Kelp. Kelp is a former world-ranked welterweight, but has developed a reputation as a great boxing trainer.
Vicente Escobedo is a big step up in competition for Lonnie Smith. Along with facing Michael Kadsidis for the interim WBO world title in 2009, he went the distance against current interim WBO and interim WBA world titlist Robert Gurrero in 2010. In Escobedo’s last fight, he beat former world champion, Rocky Juarez.
To make Smith’s task even tougher, the upcoming fight is taking place at the Woodland Community Senior Center in Escobedo’s hometown. Smith remains confident, nonetheless.
