WBO ANNOUNCES REFEREES AND JUDGES FOR SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22, JR HEAVYWEIGHT AND BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE BOUTS IN NEW YORK AND GERMANY
World Boxing Organization (WBO), by president Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel, announced today the referee and judges who will work on the Bantamweight (Nonito Donaire vs Omar Narvaez) and Jr Heavyweight (Marco Huck vs Rogelio Rossi) title bouts, respectively, to be held in New York and Germany.
Valcarcel reported that the referee for the first title defense of the 118lb champion Donaire (26-1, 18 KOs) against former Flyweight and Super Flyweight champion Narvaez (35-0-2, 19 KOs) at the Madison Square Garden in New York in a Top Rank presentation, the referee is Benjy Esteves.
The judges for the Donaire-Narvaez clash are Julie Lederman, Thomas Schreck and Steven Weisfield. Supervisor will be Richard de Cuir.
Meanwhile, for the eight defense of the Jr Heavyweight crown for Huck (33-1, 24 KOs) versus Rossi (17-2-1, 11 Kos) at the Arena Ludwigsburg, Germany, the referee will be Paul Thomas from the United Kingdom. This fight is a Sauerland Events presentation.
The judges for the Huck-Rossi fight are Carlos Colon from Puerto Rico, Denny Nelson from Uunited States and Matteo Montella D’Airola from Italy. WBO Supervisor for this fight will be Edoardo Ceccoli.

Documentary Chronicles the Story of Chuck Wepner, the Man Behind the Legend
Chuck Wepner is a liquor salesman from Bayonne, NJ who drives a Cadillac with “Champ” vanity plates. A former New Jersey State Heavyweight Boxing Champion, he took abuse from Sonny Liston, got his nose broken by Muhammad Ali, and inspired Sylvester Stallone to write “Rocky” which won three Academy Awards. Wepner was left out of the “Rocky” glory, and his career took turn after strange turn as he worked to stay in the spotlight: he went on to fight Andre the Giant as “The Assassin” and boxed a 900 pound bear. Twice.
Through interviews, photos and footage, director Jeff Feurerzeig tells Wepner’s story of being the “real Rocky”, the man who went almost the full 15 rounds with Ali in 1975 to inspire the Oscar-winning movie. In many ways, Wepner’s real-life story is actually more captivating than the one that has raked in more than $1 billion.
ESPN Films, creators of the Emmy-nominated and Peabody award-winning 30 for 30 film series, is airing a new film each Tuesday night through November 8. The remaining films of the series will air as follows:
