Booth-Quigg on October 22; Rooney Jr. signs with Dibella, Cleverly-Bellew tickets going fast

JASON BOOTH has been told by his own promoter that he will be in the last chance saloon when he meets Scott Quigg next month.

The Nottingham throwback defends his British super-bantamweight title against the unbeaten youngster in the Premier Suite at Bolton’s Reebok Arena on Saturday 22nd October.
Booth, 33, comes into the contest against the WBA ranked number three having been knocked out in ten rounds by European champion Kiko Martinez in April.

Booth (36-7) has boxed professionally since June 1996 and will competing in his 22nd major title when he faces Quigg (22-0) who is almost 11 years his junior.
Frank Maloney warned: “I have had some many great nights with Jason and he is a pleasure to promote.

“I have told him that if he loses this one it will be very hard to stay in title contention and it might be the end, but he didn’t need me to tell him that.
“He will be the underdog because Quigg has been unstoppable so far, but Jason has delivered so often when he has suffered a loss.

“Jason has never suffered consecutive defeats and showed there was plenty left after losing his world title fight against Steve Molitor, by bouncing back and beating Jamie Arthur.”
In the chief support Blackpool’s Brian Rose (17-1-1) will make the second defence of his English light-middleweight crown against Londoner Erick Ochieng (7-1)
If Rose wins he will be lined up to face British champion Price Arron later this year or in early 2012.

ROONEY JR. JOINS DIBELLA

New York, NY – (9/6/2011) – After working for over three-years as the full-time publicist and event coordinator for Star Boxing, Kevin Rooney Jr. has switched promotional outfits, and taken a full-time position with Lou DiBella’s, DiBella Entertainment. Rooney will be taking over the position as DiBella’s Executive Assistant and Director of Public Relations.

Rooney, the son of world renowned boxing trainer, Kevin Rooney, is graduate of Fordham University. Rooney began working for Star in the summer of 2008, and was an integral part in the company’s success the last three plus years. In addition to his work on the Public Relations and Event Coordination front, Rooney also found time to embark on his own boxing career during his time at Star. The Publicist/Pugilist made his much publicized pro-debut this past April on ESPN’s “Friday Night Fights”, winning a four round decision over Dave Navarro. Rooney followed up that win with a first round knockout over Elmer Vera in NYC on July 15th. Now Rooney has decided to “take his talents” to DiBella.

“Kevin is a very passionate and hard working person, with both intellect and a boxing pedigree,” said DiBella. “We are looking forward to watching him grow as a part of DBE and maybe even fight…”

“The first time Lou called me about it was actually at the weigh-in for my second fight. First he wished me luck, then he offered me a job. I remember saying to myself, if I win tomorrow this could turn out to be a really good weekend,” said Rooney with a laugh. “Working for Lou is a huge opportunity for me and my career on the business side, and Lou also made it clear that I’d be welcomed to fight on any card of his I desired, so ultimately I felt that it was an opportunity that I just couldn’t let pass me by. With his track record and background, not only is Lou one of the most respected promoters in the industry, but he is one of the most respected figugres in the entire boxing world. I’m looking forward to furthering my education of the boxing game through Lou, and contributing to what is an already stellar team on staff at DiBella Entertainment.”
