BATTLE IN BILOXI UNDERCARD RESULTS; Rosado vs. Collins on September 9

Biloxi, MS – (9/3/2011) – It was a clean sweep for DiBella Entertainment (DBE) stable-mates Thomas Oosthuzien, Randall Bailey, Luis Orlandito Del Valle and Ivan Redkach earlier in Biloxi, Mississippi, on the undercard of tonight’s live HBO Boxing After Dark telecast, featuring former WBC Welterweight Champion, Andre Berto looking to reclaim a piece of the welterweight crown when he takes on reigning IBF Champion, Jan Zaveck.

In a very entertaining fight, South Africa’s Oosthuzien defended his IBO Super Middleweight Title with a twleve round unanimous decision victory over Aaron Pryor Jr. The southpaw, Oosthuzien who was making both his U.S. and DBE debut, was able to work behind a vicious body attack to outwork Pryor for most of the fight. Pryor hung tough, and did some good work of his own, causing a nasty cut to open over Oosthuzien’s right eye, but in the end Oosthuzien was the much busier of the two, winning by scores of 117-11 on all three judge’s scorecards.

IBF #2 rated welterweight, Randall “The K.O. King” Bailey improved to 42-7, 36KO’s with a dominate ten round unanimous decision over Yoryi Estrella. Bailey, the manadatory challenger to tonight’s main event winner, controlled the action throughout, dropping Estrella with an uppercut in the 5th round, before going on to win by scores of 100-89, 100-89, 98-91.

Del Valle knocked out Anthony Napunyi with a tremendous overhand right, improving to a perfect 14-0, 11KO’s. Official time of the stoppage was 1:21 of round three.

Redkach improved to a 8-0, 7KO’s stopping Vernon Alston (4-2, 4KO’s) in the third round of their scheduled six round lightweight contest.

In the opening bout of the evening, Gerald Jordon (8-5-1, 5KO’s) scored an upset six round split decision over previously undefeated welterweight Sergio Vartanov (9-1, 6KO’s).

Rosado In Final Preparation For Sept. 9 PA Title Fight With Collins

Philadelphia, PA—Old-time fighters, unlike most current-day pugilists, had strong support from their fans, who would attend their fights, win or lose. Gabriel Rosado, the 25-year old junior middleweight from Philadelphia Pa, who meets Keenan Collins, of Reading, PA, for the Pennsylvania State junior middleweight title on Friday, Sept. 9, at the Asylum Arena (7 West Ritner Street) in South Philadelphia, is a throw-back fighter in many respects including the solid support he receives from his fans.

“I’m going to give my blood, sweat and tears to my fans,” said Rosado, who sports a 17-5 record with 10 knockouts. “I want to win the fight, but at the same time I want to entertain them since they’re spending their hard-earned money to come see me.

“I want to thank my fans for all of their support and all of the love they have given me. It really means a lot to me and fuels me to work even harder. I don’t just do it for myself. I get a great deal of pride to see the fans appreciate what I do.”

Rosado is riding the most impressive streak of his career, having won his last three fights, seven of his last nine, 11 of his last 14. Included in those streaks are victories over former IBF world junior middleweight champ Kassim Ouma, of Uganda, and world-rated Saul Roman, of Mexico.

Rosado could have his hands full with Collins, 34, who is looking to make a statement late in his career. The vacant PA junior middleweight title is just one incentive. The other is national television exposure and a chance to make a good payday if he can upset the odds on Friday.

Collins is 13-6-2, 9 K0s, and managed and trained by Marshall Kauffman.

The Rosado-Collins championship bout and the eight-round semifinal, which features unbeaten welterweight prospect Ronald Cruz, of Bethlehem, PA, against Chris Fernandez, of Salt Lake City, UT, will be broadcast on TeleFutura’s Solo Boxeo Tecate at 11.30pm ET/PT (10.30pm CT).

Five additional fights, including a six-round heavyweight contest between Bryant Jennings (9-0, 4 K0s), of Philadelphia, PA, and Alexis Mejias (11-7, 5 K0s), of Paterson, NJ, complete the card, which begins at 7.30 p.m. and is being promoted by Peltz Boxing Promotions, Inc., Don Chargin Productions and Golden Boy Promotions.

Tickets are priced at $45 and $65. They are on sale at the offices of Peltz Boxing Promotions (215-765-0922) and also can be purchased online at www.peltzboxing.com.
