James Toney to Present Horse Racing Trophy Saturday at Santa Anita

This Saturday, January 29, at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California, popular multiple-time world champion James “Lights Out” Toney (72-6-3, 44 KOs) will present the trophy to the winners of Saturday’s Sunshine Millions Turf horse race on behalf of San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino.

The former middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight and cruiserweight champion will also be available to meet fans and sign autographs..

The Sunshine Millions Turf is a $300,000 race open to thoroughbred horses four years and older, bred either in Florida or California.

Toney will make his return to boxing on February 24 at the San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino in San Bernardino when he defends his IBA Heavyweight Championship against “Dangerous” Damon Reed (45-14, 32 KOs) in a Fox Sports televised 12-round main event.

Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, the charismatic Toney has gained tremendous popularity in his adopted home of Sherman Oaks, California.

Fans in attendance can meet James Toney at the San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino booth near the main entrance, and which will adjoin the Kingsbury Fountain and John Henry statue.

Considered a defensive wizard and a throwback to boxing’s glory days, Toney was last seen in a boxing ring in September 2009 when he stopped Matthew Greer in two rounds. Toney won the IBA Heavyweight Championship in December 2008 with a split decision over perennial top contender Fres Oquendo.
