Promoter Frank Warren has spoken with Bob Arum and they have agreed to make Kell Brook against Mike Jones after their next respective fights. Yesterday Warren said that he had discussed making the fight with Arum for the Interim WBO World Welterweight title. However, WBO #2 ranked Jones will first go ahead with his fight against Jesus Soto Karass next month at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Brook, the Intercontinental champion and #1 ranked challenger, will next fight on Warren’s big 30th anniversary card on December 11th..
ARTHUR AND PRICE HEAD QUALITY TROXY UNDERCARD
Welsh star Jamie Arthur bids for title glory and Olympic bronze medallist David Price continues his road to the top on Frank Maloney’s next knockout show.
The talented pair both box on the promoter’s bumper bill at The Troxy, London, E1 on Saturday October 16 that is televised live on Sky Sports.
Arthur (17-4) is lined up to challenge Scotland’s Kris Hughes (12-0) for the vacant Commonwealth super-bantamweight title.
In an exciting top of the bill battle Chislehurst’s Sam Webb (16-1) makes the first defence of his British light-middleweight title against Martin Concepcion (17-7).
A special attraction features Malmesbury’s ABA light-welterweight champion Joe Hughes, who makes his professional debut in a six round contest.
Price, 27, will have his fourth fight of 2010 when he faces a selected opponent in a heavyweight six rounder.
Maloney believes Price (7-0) is destined for world title glory, and the 6ft 8in Liverpool puncher hopes to be chasing major titles inside 12 months.
He said: “Once you move into championship class you only really fight two or three times a year and right now that’s not what I need.
“I need to be busy, and after about 12 fights that is when I will be ready to challenge for the British title.
“The back end of 2011, that’s when I will be looking to move into British title level, and moving on from there.”
Other fighters on the undercard of the top class show include Maloney’s other heavyweight prospects Tom Dallas (11-0) and Larry Olubamiwo (9-1).
The card also features former British flyweight title challenger Ashley Sexton (9-0-1), Martin Welsh (7-0) and Lewis Pettit (2-0).

DAVID PROMISES HUGE UPSET
Paul David says he will plunge Merseyside into more sporting misery on October 23 – by staging a rerun of Northampton’s League Cup giant killing.
The 26-year-old tackles Paul Smith at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, in a challenge for the British super-middleweight title, live on Sky Sports HD1.
And mouthy David says the champion is in for a torrid night after being inspired by his local football team Northampton Town.
The League Two minnows beat five-time European Cup winners Liverpool on penalties last week.
“It was an amazing result,” said David. “No one gave Northampton much chance, just like they are writing me off.
“But they went into the Lion’s Den and came away with the win, and I’ll do the same.
“Smith might think he’s the Fernando Torres of boxing, but I’ll reduce him to tears.
“I can’t think of anything more dangerous in sport than a man with nothing to lose and everyone is in for a big shock next month.
“Liverpool and Everton have had a diasterous start to the football season, and by the time I’ve finished with Smith he’s going to look like relegation material as well.
“Just like Liverpool, he’s got a rubbish defence, not much firepower and his best days were definitely a few years ago.
“It must be pretty grim to be a sports fan in Liverpool at the moment, but things are going to get worse before they get better.
“I honestly don’t see how I can lose this fight.”
