JOHN McDERMOTT has promised fans he won’t be beaten by nerves when the bell rings in his return clash against Tyson Fury.
Manchester Romany gypsy Fury (10-0) risks his English heavyweight title against the Essex man (25-6) at The Brentwood Centre on Friday June 25 in a contest that also doubles as a final eliminator for the British title..
McDermott admits he constantly worries before fights, but insists he will be cool when they cross paths nine months after their epic first battle which Fury controversially won on points.
Big John, 30, said: “I do worry beforehand, but when I get in them I am gutsy and will push anyone until the end.
“I worry about silly things sometimes, but that is just me.
“I always question myself and ask ‘Am I ready?’ but I know I am ready for this fight. This is a big one for me.”
In a big clash of prospects Southern Area heavyweight champion Larry ‘The War Machine’ Olubamiwo meets North Shields Dave Ferguson (12-2) in a British heavyweight title eliminator.
Other heavyweight bruisers on the bill includes Olympic bronze medallist David Price (6-0), Tom Dallas (10-0) and debutant Damien Campbell.
Also boxing on Maloney’s latest knockout show is are Ashley Sexton (9-0-1), Menay Edwards (3-0), Tony Hill (4-1) and Lewis Pettit (1-0).

FURY ODDS-ON TO RETAIN TITLE IN HEAVYWEIGHT REMATCH
UNBEATEN heavyweight Tyson Fury is the 1-2 odds-on favourite on Betfair to successfully defend his English title at the Brentwood Centre in Brentwood, Essex on Friday night.
Fury takes on John McDermott (odds 2-1), who he beat controversially in September of last year. The bout also doubles as a final eliminator for a shot at Derek Chisora’s British title.
The referee awarded Fury the decision last time out; however this time round the hard hitting Mancunian is 13-8 to win the bout by knock-out. McDermott is available at 8-1 to KO his opponent.
Fury can be backed at 13-8 to win the match by judges’ decision, while McDermott is a 4-1 chance.
Betfair spokesman Alex Bake said: “A lot of people felt that McDermott had done enough to win the previous contest. However, Fury has proved to be a worthy champion; he remains unbeaten and the punters are backing him to retain his title.”

Booth vs Molitor Off
Due to injury sustained by IBF super bantamweight champion Steve Molitor the scheduled world title defence against Jason Booth has been postponed and re-scheduled for September 10th.
The show on July 23rd at Rainton Meadow Sunderland will still go ahead with the same undercard which include a super bantamweight commonwealth title plus an English title.
The new top of the bill will be the first defence of North East’s British bantamweight champion Stuey Hall against former champion Martin Power. Hall is in a confident mood ahead of his forst defence:

Marin Power was beaten in the first meeting but is chomping at the bit for the rematch:
“I’m sorry to hear the news that Jason Booth’s fight has fallen through but it is a great opportunity for myself to win a Lonsdale belt outright and it will be a different Martin Powers than the one who me to Stuey Hall in an overweight contest last September. And I have no problem travelling to his backyard.

‘The Storm’ huffs and puffs but won’t shake ‘The Warrior’
Irish Light Heavyweight Champion John ‘The Warrior’ Waldron has hit out at claims from Michael Sweeney that he is the best light heavyweight in the country. Waldron who claimed the title after a grueling 10 rounds with Jamie Power deserves all the plaudits he has received after his heroic battle in Limerick last month.
A spokesman for Dolphil Promotions said ‘The Warrior is currently the number one Light Heavyweight in the country, however upset Sweeney is on hearing this, it’s a fact… has Sweeney even ever made light heavyweight before? I might be wrong but I think the closest he’s come is 179’
He added ‘If The Storm thinks he can breeze onto a show he’s wrong. The Warrior gets to call the shots now he’s champ, right now John in focused on his next fight in Citywest Hotel August 7th with one eye also on an EU title shot down the road’.
‘The Warrior’, when asked what he thought about Sweeney’s comments last week stated: ‘I am the light heavyweight champion; I have never avoided anyone in a fight amateur or professional… and I am definitely not avoiding Michael Sweeney. I am the number one rated light heavyweight in Ireland and when this fight comes off I will still be the number one. Ill do my talking in the ring where it counts. Sweeney says he stopped Power in 3 rounds and I had to go ten. So what, Sweeney stopped him on a cut eye, just remember I also dropped Power twice!’
Dolphil yesterday claimed that this fight will happen, it’s only a matter when. ‘Waldron v Sweeney is a fight the fans want to see, and it’s another test for John on his road to European glory, he’ll beat Sweeney but what a cracking fight it’ll be.
