Fight Details

First round started with both prizefighters gauging each other’s skills. Otieno found it hard to pin the moving target of which was Gorres, as he tried to overcome the limitation of his less fluid and somewhat not well-coordinated movements. He has steeped up pressure on Gorres, but the IBF No. 4 superfly contender also increased his own brand of pressure—engaging Otieno in leather exchange but with a swift lounge in and out of Otieno’s range, couple with hair-breadth slip under Otieno’s mistimed artillery.

Gorres landed a barrage of punches, many of which stunned Otieno on impact, which he simply shrugged off as swift as it hit him. Much slower than Gorres, Otieno hit a few punches but often made it against empty air. However, Otieno has distinguished himself as a rock-solid opponent that never slowed down despite the punishment he received from Gorres. Each time the round bell rang, he walks to his corner and then back to the ring center as if nothing happened…the stun looked like just a small irritation in his hardened body.

Despite the fans’ demand for a knockout, Gorres could not bring Otieno to the mat, as the skirmish run the distance to the expectant excitement of the crowd. It looked like Gorres was well-prepared to face the pressure tactics of which Otieno was well known by escalating pressure instead.

Gorres took the win by unanimous decision, with his fans impressed with his newly-gained pressuring skills and a deep respect to the sturdiness of the Kenyan champion. Gorres went to 28 wins of 32 fights, while Otieno dropped to two losses in 17 fights.
