Latimore looking to “Bull” his way into title contention with win over Powell

A native of St. Louis, 22-year old junior middleweight up and comer Deandre ‘The Bull’ Latimore made his way to the boxing capital of the world, Las Vegas, last year to take the next step in a promising pro career that has thus far produced 18 wins in 19 fights with 15 of those wins coming by knockout..

On Wednesday, June 11th, Latimore will look for victory number 19 against the top-ranked junior middleweight in the world, Sechew Powell, and he’s ready for the challenge.

“Chances like this don’t come along very often and I plan to show the New York crowd that I am worthy of this fight,” said Latimore. “I recognize that Sechew Powell is a great fighter whose record speaks for itself, and he has earned his number one ranking. But the junior middleweight division is packed with some very talented fighters and I’m out to prove that I’m one of them.”

A pro for just over two years, Latimore has been on the fast track, literally, winning 13 of his bouts in three rounds or less. Now training with the renowned Kenny Adams in Vegas, Latimore has added new dimensions to his game that he plans on displaying to the world on June 11th.

“I’m very excited about this opportunity and I’m going to bring my best effort into the ring,” said Latimore. “I’ve been working hard in training camp and I want the world to see just what I’m made of. I’d like to thank Seminole Warriors Boxing for giving me this great opportunity and I will not disappoint the boxing fans of New York. I just want Powell to remember one important thing: “If you mess with the bull, you get the horns.”

In June 11th’s co-feature, unbeaten Peter Quillin will be tested by Colombian knockout artist Dionisio Miranda in a ten round middleweight bout.

This night of world-class professional boxing, presented by Seminole Warriors Boxing and Gotham Boxing association with Bad Dog Promotions will be aired live on ESPN2’s Wednesday Night Fights beginning at 9pm ET / 6pm PT.
