The 24 year Andaluz returned to his native Chicago four months ago following a successful amateur run in Puerto Rico to start his professional boxing career. Said Gadiel, “I was born in Chicago and we moved to my hometown of Las Pierdras, Puerto Rico when I was eight. I’m back now and looking forward to turning pro on January 25th.”
Finishing up a sparring session this past week at JABB Boxing Gym, Andaluz stated, “It’s been great training here, the staff and other fighters have been very helpful in creating a terrific environment.” Andaluz is trained by former Chicago super middleweight Louie “KO” Mateo and his brother Victor Mateo.
When not training diligently, Gadiel holds down a daytime job as a roadside assistance technician. Said promoter Dominic Pesoli, “He’s here at our gym working hard every night after work. He’s in terrific shape and we’re very happy to have him make his pro debut next Friday night.”
About his favorite fighter, Andaluz went back to his Puerto Rican roots, “I love watching Cotto fight, many people thought Mosley would turn him back but he kept on fighting to the finish and gutted out the victory. That’s why we have such pride in him.”
Andaluz will be facing Grand Rapids, Michigan newcomer Marsay Buggs in the scheduled four round bout.
Headlining THE MONTH OF THE KINGS is an outstanding flyweight bout between former junior flyweight world champion Hugo “EL INCREDIBLE” Cazares, 25-4-1 (19KO’s) of Los Mochis, Mexico and Columbian veteran Kermin Guardia, 37-7 (21KO’s) both of whom will be making their Chicago debuts.
