Joey “The K.O. Kid” Spina Returns Nov.24th

Providence, Rhode Island Super Middleweight, Joey “The KO Kid” Spina, (20-1, 15 KO’s), returns Saturday, November 24th. at the Connecticut Convention Center, Hartford, CT. This will be Spina’s second fight in almost a month, as he nears a potential showdown with former Contender star, Jesse Brinkley..

A Spina / Brinkley rematch is in the works as Brinkley looks to avenge his KO loss to Spina last year. In their first meeting, Brinkley was leading on the score cards until a Spina left hook to the body dropped Brinkley in the 11th round. Brinkley was reeling across the ring, leading the referee to stop the fight at 1:50 of the 11th round.

The dramatic fight received honorable mention honors as “Fight of the Year” from ESPN.

“We’re glad to get Joey back in the ring so quickly,” said Spina co-manager, Patrick Doljanin. “That’s a testament to our promoter, Jimmy Burchfield. Joey is a throw-back, Rocky Graziano type fighter, who brings the kind of excitement fans expect.”

In his last fight, October 20th, Spina stopped Shannon Miller at 1:48 of round four. Reno, Nevada boxing fans quickly became Joey Spina fans as they cheered him throughout the bout. After the fight, Spina spent an hour signing autographs and taking pictures with local fans.
