Ricky Hatton Begins Final Preparations Against Floyd Mayweather

Ricky Hatton, nearing the end of his 13th week of training camp in Manchester, England, is starting to pack his bags as there are only 10 days left before he leaves his hometown and heads to Las Vegas to set up the final weeks of preparation for his December 8 mega-fight against Floyd Mayweather at MGM Grand. The fight will be broadcast live on HBO Pay-Per-View.

Hatton estimated that he has experienced the most intense training camp ever training seven days per week rotating between sparring, road-work and weight training. “Without a doubt sparring is the most important part of my training,” said Hatton. “It allows me to judge my timing and practice maneuvers and tactics.”

In addition to his extremely hard work in the gym, Hatton has paid close attention to his weight and diet. Reports from camp estimate that Hatton is close to fighting weight and feeling good. “Dieting has got to be the worst part of training for fights,” said Hatton. “My favorite food is Chinese, but I have to stay away from the rice and Chinese sauces during training camp.” Hatton’s diet is supervised by his long-time strength and conditioning trainer Kerry Kayes.
