Moore And Facey Make Weight, Full Undercard Supports Wigan Show

British light middle champion Jamie Moore and challenger Andrew Facey both comfortably made the divisional weight limit of 154 lb yesterday as they prepare to deliver a thrilling rematch tonight on a Frank Maloney promotion from the Robin Park Arena in Wigan, England, televised live by Sky Sports..

Facey, who towers over the stocky champion, has promised to put his advantages of height and reach to good use but will be facing a very motivated Moore, who must win this fight in order to challenge undefeated European champion Zaurbek Baysangurov.

Also on the bill is promising Manchester welterweight Mark Thompson, 12-1 (7), who faces comebacking former British and English champion, Chris Saunders, 23-22-2 (10).

Thompson was involved in one of the most action filled fights to take place on British soil this year when he stepped up to light middle on short notice to face South African champion Vincent Vuma this past July for the vacant WBC International light middleweight belt.

Both men hit the canvas but Thompson’s brave performance wasn’t enough to overcome the edge in experience held by Vuma, who managed to stop the 26 year old Manchester welter in a torrid eighth round.

Saunders has enjoyed a long career and having faced top talent such as Michael Jennings, Kevin Lueshing, Billy Schwer, Scott Dixon and Derek Roche, will provide Thompson with a good test.

Commonwealth light welterweight champion Ajose Olusegun, 20-0 (10) is scheduled to make a non-title appearance and hot welter prospect Craig Watson, 10-1 (3). is also set to appear on the bill.

Olusegun is coming off a title winning contest against Gary Reid in June, in which the native Nigerian neutralized the Stoke pressure artist and Watson stamped his authority over the highly thought of Robert Lloyd Tayor with a dominating first round stoppage last month.

Completing the card are light middle Brett Flournoy, 5-0 (2), featherweight Mark Moran, 6-0-1 (1), light heavyweight Carl Dilks, 3-0 (0), super middle Martin Murray, 1-0 (1), and light welter Jack Arnfield who will be making his pro debut.
