Undefeated champion boxer, Jamie “Mr Business” Pittman takes the next step towards a world title challenge against WBA champion Felix Sturm, when he fights for the WBA Pan African title at Davistown RSL on Friday 14th September. Pittman, 14 fights, 14 wins, 7 Ko’s, is the current PABA and WBO Asia Pacific Middleweight champion..
He will square off against the No.2 ranked South African, Tshepo “The Slayer” Mashego, for the WBA Pan African Middleweight crown with the bout scheduled over the championship distance of 12 rounds.
Mashego looks to be a dangerous opponent for “Mr Business” with his record currently at 22 fights, 15 wins, 9 Ko’s. To gauge a form line on the South African’s abililty, Mashego has twice fought Pittman victim William Gare, for a win & a loss. Gare fought Pittman for the WBF Super Middleweight World Title at Crowne Plaza Terrigal and was an extremely talented boxer, not afraid to mix it up with the local. For Mashego to hold a win over Gare speaks volumes of his ability inside the ring. Showing the quality of the victory over Gare, for both Pittman and Mashego, is the fact that Gare has recently regained the South African Super Middleweight title.
Mashego has also traveled to Germany to challenge Felix Sturm and went the distance with the current WBA world champion – defeated on points over 10 rounds. Mashego has held the South African Light Middleweight title and also the WBA Pan African Light Middleweight belt. Showing his wealth of experience, he has also unsuccessfully challenged for the WBC World Youth title, the WBC All African title and the WBF World Middleweight title. Mashego is sure to make Pittman fight all the way if he is to take the title.
Also fighting on the Pro-Am card will be well known local footballers Brayden Cain and Blayne Davis from the Erina Eagles rugby league club. Both boxers train at the DSP Gym. Cain is currently leading the highest point scorer for the Central Coast
First Division competition with a tally of 138 points to date for the season .
Davis represented the North Sydney Bears in 2006 before returning to the Eagles nest in 2007. He campaigns in the Light Heavyweight division (81 kg) and is currently 3 wins and 1 loss, since taking up boxing at the beginning of the year and looks to be a handy prospect with the gloves.
Tickets are available from the Davistown RSL with general admission tickets and table packages both available. Tickets are extremely limited and fight fans are urged to get in early to avoid any disappointment. In all, the Pro-Am card will feature the Pan African title fight between Pittman and Mashego as well as ten amateur bouts.
