11.12.06 – By Wray Edwards: Photos © Wray Edwards – click here for photo gallery — There was something for everyone last night at the Seminole Hard Rock Live” Arena. Michael Moorer didn’t waste any time dropping Cliff Couser with a serious right.
Cliff threw several punches which would have probably killed Michael, but Moorer ducked the speeding leather. At 1:36 of the first round Michael popped Couser with a punch that put him on his back and caused his legs to elevate from the concussion.
The docs worried over him for some minutes and when he was helped to his feet he was heard to say, “Wow! That was really something”.
After Cliff gathered his brain cells back in order he went over to congratulate Michael..

Previous fights in the Heavyweight Division included Oliver McCall who stepped out with a game face after pacing the ring like a caged tiger.

McCall and Diaz went at it for seven rounds as Yanqui back-peddled and clinched his way through seven rounds to a chorus of boos from the crowd. Finally, at 2:28 of the Seventh, Oliver knocked Diaz down in a neutral corner and he was counted out.

When it was over McCall was a happy camper.

Next Roman Greenberg stepped in the ring to face Steve Pannell.

Roman had to earn his advantage through tough contact and a bloody nose.

Roman then got serious and really started to cut loose on Steve.

Pannell was down more than once but at 2:23 of the Third Round he went down for the last time.

Greenberg is a tough cookie and we will see him again soon.

The first Heavyweight bout on the sheet was Michael Marrone vs. Ronald Bellamy.

At 2:48 of the Third Round the Ref stepped in to prevent serious injury to the fading Bellamy.

Marrone went to work on Bellamy with a vengeance from the get go. He punched himself out a bit and got caught with a few shots which made him bleary for a few seconds. After backing off for a bit he suddenly turned up the wick and Ronald could not handle the action.

The under-card fights were a mixed bag, but just as I said there would be a pretty good scrap or two in the four bouts…we were not disappointed.
In a Lightweight Six Rounder Jesus Pabon matched Eli Addison .

Pabon really went after Eli in the Second Round and at 1:03 after a KD and some other unhappy events the Ref stepped in to save Addison.

Pabon was well pleased by his victory.

The second bout of the evening featured Lightweight Danny Vanstaden (the guy who hit the scales in full sweats and pulled out a cell phone) and Jessie Francisco slated for four rounds.

Francisco was knocked down during the bout and suffered a 10/8 round.

Jessie pretty much knew he had been outclassed over the distance and Danny was awarded a 40/35 UD by the judges. If he continues to train under John David Jackson…he will move on up.

The first bout of the evening featured Lightweight Timmy Leonard fighting Luis Ruiz.

Timmy cracked Luis with a body shot which brought him to his knees.

The really green Ruiz had no power and little form…he was though, a good sport.

Leonard is just getting started and was stoked to have won.

Of the evening’s offerings two old guys did quite well and both Moorer’s camp and that of McCall were making upward and onward noises…and two young guys tore it up. Marrone, who reminds one of Minto, already, was a hectic puncher and did not lack for go power. Roman Greenberg showed that he was also tough and resourceful under fire. These guys are fun to watch.
Of course the logical reaction of many in the room was “Now let’s see Moorer take on McCall and Greenberg face Marrone. That’s Boxing… “what goes around, comes around” …or should. We’ll see.
Finally, Warrior’s Boxing, the Seminole Hard Rock Live Arena and Redline Promotions put on a good show. The fans were well satisfied with the action and craving more. It won’t be long. January 6th , 07 will feature Toney/Peter Two with Don King at the helm, and others…and Sultan and Shannon are looking for each other. A great time was had by all. See you at the fights.
