Universum Boxing News: Halmich, Veit, Krasniqi

06.09.06 – The female World Champions are coming to Magdeburg. Alongside the World Champion and the “Queen of women’s boxing” Regina Halmich there will be spotlight boxing World Champion Ina Menzer, Universum World Champion Alesia Graf (Jr. Bantamweight) as well as the unbeaten Julia Sahin (Jr. Flyweight) and Susi Kentikian (Flyweight) in order to defend their titles..

What do you want more? The boxing night is a special moment for Regina Halmich. “When I heard some information about this event, I said: great, finally this happens! This is an important step for us to headline the Universum Champions Night. I have reached my goals with this event and furthermore this will be another fight in Magdeburg.”

In her 53rd fight as a pro, Regina Halmich defends her Flyweight World title against the 28 year old challenger Ria Ramnarine from Trinidad & Tobago. Her record as a pro: 14 fights with 10 wins.

“I have seen a few videos of Ria Ramnarine: she is good, probably not in technical way but she is doesn’t give up. She has beaten the American Yvonne Caples, who I fought in 2002 and beat with a marginal decision, for the WIBA Mini Flyweight title. I am warned but perfectly prepared.”

Halmich has won 50 of her fights, only lost 1 and has 1 draw. For her it is the 4th time since 2005 that she in on the card in the Bördelandhalle in Magdeburg: “I really enjoyed coming here and fight in front of this awesome crowd.”

Mario Veit headlines the event on 21st of October in Halle / Saale – title defense against Denis Inkin

Super Middleweight Mario Veit, from Cottbus, who has been with Universum for nearly 10 years, has made it again: on October 21st he will headline the Universum Champions Night in Halle / Saale, which will be shown live from 10:00 pm on ZDF. He is challenged for his WBC International belt by stable mate Denis Inkin.

The 32 year old Veit has won 48 out of his 50 fights as a pro (23 wins by KO). In his last fight at the end of May in Munich, he gave an impressive performance to take the WBC International title from the unbeaten Jürgen Brähmer.

With the former IBF Intercontinental Champion Denis Inkin, who is just behind Veit in the rankings, he will have another unbeaten challenger. The 28 year old Russian, who lives in Hamburg, has also an impressing record with 28 fights with 21 wins by KO.

Luan Krasniqi is a role model for many teenagers

Luan Krasniqi has passed many stages in his sporting and private life: he is fluent in 8 languages, an interpreter, a wholesaler and a professional boxer.

Krasniqi is currently Germany’s most successful Heavyweight boxer and this is a reason for setting examples and being a role model for many projects involving teenagers. He is supporting campaigns for Toto-Lotto GmbH (Lottery) in which he warns of the danger of gambling and “be fit not fat” whereas he is also in the position in advising teenagers to keep active and overlook their nutrition.

Khoren Gevor – Back in Cuxhaven

The challenger for the World Champion belt at Middleweight, Khoren Gevor is looking forward to come back to Cuxhaven – and Cuxhaven can expect a great fight night

On September 19th 2006, Khoren Gevor will have another fight in Cuxhaven. On the way to a world title fight, he must defeat the South African Andile Tshongolo (16-10-0, 10 KO).

The 27 year old, who lives in Hamburg, is in preparations with his coach Fritz Sdunek in the Sportschule Sachsenwald. “Khoren is already in great shape, he has worked really hard and soon we will start the sparring phase” his coach said.

At the boxing event in Cuxhaven on September 19th there will be other interesting fights which include the spotlight fighters Vitali Tajbert and Sebastian Köber. Both boxers have been very successful amateurs for their home country.
