The Ghost gets his chance and a city holds its breath!

02.09.06 – Steve, The Brown Bomber-Within Northern California’s rich boxing heritage and many training gyms that are home to Olympian celebrities such as Andre Ward and the Darrell brothers. It usually isn’t an easy task to single out one prospect from the talent pool. However; tonight featherweight sensation Robert The Ghost Guerrero seems to have the entire California Bay Area chomping at the bit..

With most of the world tuning in to see James Toney & Sam Peter who are the headliners of tonight’s Staple Center event. California viewers will have all eyes on Robert The Ghost Guerrero as he attempts to capture the IBF Featherweight Title. Standing in his way is Champion Eric Aiken with a record of 16 wins and 4 loses. Aiken recently won the title back in May against Valdemir Pereira. This crafty power puncher may have won the IBF title by a disqualification, but don’t let that fool you. Pereira’s disqualification came from countless low blows resulting from his frustration after being severely out boxed by Aiken. With Aiken devastating Featherweight top contender Tim Austin with a 6th round TKO The Ghost will not have an easy task ahead of him.

But if wishes get answered and dreams come true, then what appears to be Northern California’s latest poster boy of boxing might be making millions happy tonight.

When traveling through Robert’s home city of Gilroy one would be hard pressed to find someone not aware of tonight’s championship match, let alone a person that doesn’t know who Robert The Ghost Guerrero is. The young southpaw has definitely captured the hearts and minds of thousands, but is that enough for a world title? Of course not, but after watching Robert KO opponents with his right hand just as well as his left his place in tonight’s title match is well earned. A fact not often divulged, but The Bomber will release now is that far before his 22nd birthday while sparring in Los Angeles against Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao, The Ghost stunned and dazed the PacMan with a powerful straight left quickly ending the sparring section. Believe it or not, but it happened.

But this is championship boxing not sparring and Aiken will be bringing his A’ game.
So at 7pm PST on Showtime let the fireworks begin and who knows Northern California’s prayers may be on the verge of being answered. Robert has repeatedly promised his fans to bring a championship belt back to Northern California for multiple defenses. All that stands in his way now is Eric Aiken.
