Euro Roundup: Tangstad, Vidoz vs Koc, Axel Schulz, more

23.01.06 – By Per Ake Persson: The rumors have been flying for a long time and today – as the tradition goes – Trygve Sundoe at Verdens Gang breaks the story. Norwegian Steffen Tangstad, former EBU heavy champ and CEO for MSE, is back in business and will work with an all-new TV channel with boxing and martial arts only. Wíth MSE, a company inside Viasat, Tangstad both bought and sold TV rights, promoted and managed a stable of fighters working closely with Universum.. It all ended in the early summer of 04 and since then Steffen has been idle but during the fall rumors been flying of somekind of comeback of sorts. VG writes that Tangstad spent this past weekend in Las Vegas negotiating with Top Rank about rights to upcoming shows. A show in Spain in March could the first to be televised by the new channel.

Comebacking (?) German heavy Axel Schulz will according to Bild Zeitung travel to Florida in three weeks to train under Angelo Dundee. Bild also writes that Riddick Bowe´s management is interested in making a Schulz vs Bowe fight.

EBU heavy champ Paolo Vidoz, who fights German Cengiz Koc January 28 in Berlin, have switched management from Loreni Boxe to Salvatore Cherchi. Vidoz have been advised by his lawyer not to make any further comments on the case.

Polish cruiser Krzysztof Wlodarczyk have today relinquished the EU title. There was to have been purse bids today (Jan 23) for the rematch against Belgian Ismail Abdoul, who will remain as co-challenger for the vacant title.

Danish heavy Steffen Nielsen have pulled out of his position as mandatory challenger for the vacant EU title. Nielsen was to have fought Brit Michael Sprott.
