27.09.05 – Aussie KO king Nedal Hussein has told Scott Harrison to expect fireworks on Bonfire night when he challenges for the Scotsman’s WBO World Featherweight Title. Hussein meets the fiery Cambuslang slugger on Saturday 5 November at the Braehead Arena and has promised to spark-out Harrison when he lands with his dynamite-packed fists.. The 27-year-old from Sydney can certainly back up his boast with a staggering 14 first-round knockouts – 20 stoppages inside three rounds – in a 41-fight career.
“Harrison won’t know what hit him when I start landing with my punches,” said Hussein.
“I don’t care how long the fight goes, it could be in the first round or the twelfth round, one things for sure it will not go to points because Harrison will be knocked out,”
“He’s never faced a puncher like me in his career. Victor Polo, William Abelyan, Walter Estrada, those guys can’t punch like I can and Harrison knows it,”
“He will need rockets of his own to cope with me but he just doesn’t have the punch to stop me,”
With only two losses in his career against premier band operators Manny Pacquiao, who he floored but lost on a hotly disputed cuts decision, and Oscar Larios, Hussein believes it is now his time to take over from Harrison.
He continued, “I’ve been in with two of the best around that weight in Larios and Pacquiao and Harrison doesn’t even come close to them,”
“I feel that I’m at my best when I’m 130lb, against Larios and Pacquiao I was at 126lb and didn’t feel that strong but you will see the difference when I fight Harrison,”
“I’ve seen his fights against Manuel Media and Michael Brodie and I know he likes to come forward and attack which will be a big mistake against me,”
“Harrison’s reign is over and it’s now my turn to take over the division,”
Hussein has already fought in Glasgow when he defeated Brian Carr for the Vacant Commonwealth Super-Bantamweight title in February 2000 and came away the winner on points and is looking forward to returning.
He added, “I’m a big fan of Glasgow and had a great time on my last visit because the people were great but I’m sure things will be different this time when I beat the home champion,”
“I’m not worried about the judges because I will make sure that it will not come to that,”
“The only fireworks Harrison will see is in the ring on the night when my right hand explodes on his chin.”
Special attraction on the undercard features fight sensation Amir Khan, the Olympic Silver Medalist, with his first appearance in Scotland.
The 18-year-old hot-shot is just starting out in his pro career but he has already made an immediate impact with his 109-second demolition of David Bailey in July and a punch-perfect performance over Baz Carey earlier this month.
The national hero wants to fight all around the country at the major venues and is excited by the prospect of featuring with Harrison in Scotland.
Glasgow’s John Simpson will challenge Manchester Andy Morris for the Vacant British Featherweight Championship.
English Light-Welterweight Champion Nigel Wright from Hartlepool takes on Glasgow’s Kevin McIntyre in a Final Eliminator for the British title.
The undercard features Edinburgh welterweight star Gary Young, Glasgow super-featherweight Willie Limond and Glasgow Middleweight Lawrence Murphy.
