23.06.06 – Calvin Brock, the hottest contender in the heavyweight division, headlines a June 24 undefeated doubleheader from Caesars Palace’s Open-Air Roman Amphitheater when he defends his IBA Continental Americas Heavyweight Championship against Timur Ibragimov in a 12 round main event showdown. Undefeated welterweight sensation, Joel Julio, will challenge fellow undefeated welterweight contender Carlos Quintana in the co-feature contest—a 12 round WBA Welterweight Eliminator bout.

The “Undefeated . . . But Not For Long” doubleheader will be broadcasted by HBO, beginning at 10:00 P.M ET/PT as part of the network’s “Boxing After Dark” series. Brock (28-0, 22 KOs) has stopped four of his last six opponents. In his last bout on Feb 25, 2006, the 31-year-old Charlotte, NC native frighteningly annihilated Zuri Lawrence with a single left hook that immediately knocked Lawrence unconscious and sent him crashing to the canvas (TKO 6). The bout opened the Fernando Vargas-Shane Mosley HBO PPV broadcast. Brock is ranked in the top-10 by all three major sanctioning bodies and by The Ring magazine.
Ibragimov (21-0-1, 13 KO’s) has knocked out five of his last seven opponents. The 31-year-old Uzbekistan native captured the Vacant WBC Fecarbox Heavyweight Title on Oct 16, 2004 when he stopped Shawn Robinson with a first round knockout (TKO 1). He has since successfully defended the title three times. In his last bout on March 24, 2006, Ibragimov destroyed Kenny Craven in two rounds (TKO 2).
Julio (27-0, 24 KO’s) is recognized by boxing insiders as the finest young prospect in the sport. The 21-year-old Monteria, Colombia native was selected 2005’s “Prospect of the Year” by numerous media outlets, including ESPN.com. Julio has stopped 13 opponents within the first two rounds, and has knocked out his last 11 opponents. HBO boxing color analyst Larry Merchant has referred to Julio as “the best prospect in boxing since Miguel Cotto”. Julio is ranked #3 by the WBA.
Quintana (22-0, 18 KO’s) has stopped seven of his last eight opponents. The 29-year-old Moca, Puerto Rico southpaw has knocked out 11 opponents within the first three rounds. In his last bout on Feb 24, 2006, Quintana dismantled Raul Eduardo Bejarano in 10 rounds to win the Vacant WBO Latino Welterweight Title (TKO 10). Quintana is ranked #2 by the WBA.
