Speaking from his small victory party on Saturday night in Miami, FL, Estrada discussed his huge victory over Smith as well as possible future bouts with the elite welterweights in the world.

“It was pretty much how I thought it would go last night” said a jubilant Estrada. “I was stronger than him and was able to hurt him early with body shots and he wasn’t able to keep me off him, he never really hurt me in the fight and I was really just wearing him down in each round.”

Asked why he looked so dominant this time out, Estrada continued, “Seems like I always have a month or less to get ready, this fight I knew about two months ago and I was able to prepare to properly. Last night was the best shape I’ve been in for a long time, maybe the best of my pro career.”

Trained by the legendary Angelo Dundee, David said his trainer was “very complimentary” and glad that I followed the game plan we drew up. “Our plan was to give him angles, go to the body and not smother my punches and to be aggressive for all three minutes of each round. That was the plan and that’s what wore him down.”

Speaking about future opponents, Estrada said, “Corey’s got the three major belts and him and Zab are fighting on February 5th, I’d gladly fight the winner. Either that or Cintron, Margarito, even Mosley or De La Hoya who are coming down to 147. Just tell me when and where, I’m more then ready. 2005 is going to be a big year for me, I just need to find more dance partners.”
