May 28, from The Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. WBA FEDEBOL super bantamweight champion JUAN RUIZ, from Santa Clarita , CA, looks to break into the Top-10 world ratings when he takes on former Mexican super bantamweight champion RUBEN ESTANISLAO in the 10-round main event rumble, which will headline the six-bout all-action card.
Boxing fans from around the world can catch all the action via a live internet stream, and access the replay, at www.cmxsports.com for a monthly subscription fee of just $4.95. The series will air live every Friday night, beginning at 11 P.M. ET / 8 P.M. PT. Subscribers will also be able to access archived fight footage and get behind-the-scenes interviews, previews and articles. The broadcasts will be available in English and Spanish. “The Colonel” Bob Sheridan, a veteran of more than 750 world title fight broadcasts, will be handling the English broadcasts. The Spanish broadcast team will feature former NFL All-Pro kicker and veteran sports announcer Benny Ricardoand former five-time world champion Manuel Medina, doing the blow-by-blow and color, respectively. Internationally renowned broadcaster and actress Maria Felipe will provide the in-ring post-fight interviews and be the ring announcer. Boxing historian Bert Randolph Sugar, former editor of The Ring and Boxing Illustrated, and the author of more than 50 books, has signed on as CMXsports Senior Boxing Analyst, providing weekly columns to the CMXsports website and commentary to the broadcasts.
Ruiz, 17-1, currently rated No. 5 by the NABA, No. 7 by the NABF, and No. 10 by the USBA, extended his latest winning streak to four by capturing the vacant WBA FEDEBOL super bantamweight title via a dominating 12-round unanimous decision over Cristobal Cruz, 25-6-1, at The Orleans in February. All three judges scored it 118-110. The only blemish on his record is a disputed eight-round split decision to undefeated Erik Rodriguez in February 2003. Since that fight, Ruiz, 25, moved his training camp from Palm Springs, CA to Mexico, where he has become a more focused and dangerous fighter. The little dynamo will definitely be a force to be reckoned with in the super bantamweight division.
Estanislao, 15-7-2, from Mexico City, Mexico, captured the Mexican super bantamweight title in 2001, winning a decision over Angel Mata. His reign lasted nearly one year, before losing the title via a majority decision to Jorge Solis. He makes his U.S. debut on the heels of two title fights that went the distance, including a Draw last December against Julio Cesar Cardona for the vacant WBC CABOFE super bantamweight title and a close majority decision loss to Ricardo Castillo, 11-2, for the Mexican super bantamweight championship.
