Double Action For Kevin Mitchell

24.05.04 – London featherweight ace KEVIN ‘MIGHTY’ MITCHELL will fight TWICE in one week as he rockets through his first year as a professional. The Dagenham hot-shot features first on Saturday 5 June at the York Hall on the undercard of British and Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion MATT SKELTON. Then on the following Saturday, 12 June, the all-action youngster appears on the blockbuster double World Championship show at the M.E.N Arena in Manchester headlined by JOE CALZAGHE and RICKY HATTON.

19-year-old wonderboy Mitchell took his record to 7-0 last Thursday night at the York Hall with a first round stoppage of Frenchman Slimane Kebaile – his fifth first round win.

Mitchell, who won last years ABA Featherweight title in his first attempt in the senior ranks, said, “I’ll be fit and ready for both shows. In the amateurs I’d sometimes box twice on the same night this is just another test for me as a professional.”

“Joe and Ricky are big heroes of mine so I’m looking forward to this show the most. It would have been an honour to box on either of their undercards separately but to appear under both on the same night is a dream,”

“I went to the Hatton fight in April (against Dennis Holbaek Pedersen) and the atmosphere there was incredible. I’m looking forward to getting my fight out of the way and then going to watch Joe and Ricky,” Finished Mitchell.
