World champ Clampitt defends title March 27

05.03.04 – IWBF light welterweight champion Jaime “The Hurricane” Clampitt (12-2, 4 KOs) wants another world title belt to put around her waist. Clampitt, fighting out of Narragansett (RI), defends her IWBF crown for the first time and also fights for the new NABA championship in the 10-round co-feature on “History in the Making,” live Saturday, March 27, at 8:00 – 10:00 PM/ET airing on CN8, The Comcast Network from Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

“History in the Making” is promoted by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc. (CES), in association with CN8 and Foxwoods Resort Casino. This is the first of a five fight CES-promoted series shown live in primetime on CN8, reaching 6.2 million homes from Maine to Maryland. “The Hurricane” will put her seven-fight win streak on the line against Lanie Ellis (9-1, 3 KOs), of Houston (TX), who is rated No. 7 by the WIBF. “This is a great opportunity for me, especially fighting for two world titles,” Clampitt said. “It will be my toughest fight. She’s 9-1 and a tough fighter; I’m tougher and I’m going to take her out.”

The 10-round main event features five-time former world champion Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Paz (49-10, 30 KOs), fighting for the final time in quest of his 50th career victory, against super middleweight Tocker “TNT” Pudwill (39-5, 14 KOS). Paz, of Cranston (RI), is the ex-WBA light middleweight and IBF lightweight champion who holds victories against former world champions Roberto Duran (twice), Greg Haugen (twice), Harry Arroyo, Gilbert Dele, Luis Santana, and Lloyd Honeyghan.

Pudwill, of Bismarck (ND), has fought twice for the world super middleweight title having lost to WBO champion Joe Calzaghe (TKO2) and IBU title-holder Sven Ottke (DEC12).

Slated to be on the undercard is WBC Youth middleweight title-holder “Bad” Chad Dawson (14-0, 10 KOs), of New Haven (CT), as well as Peabody (MA) cruiserweight Wayne “Lights Out” Johnsen (3-0, 2 KOs) and Providence featherweight Eric Fagan, former four-time New England Golden Gloves champion, making his pro debut, among others.
