Hernandez-Harrison is a fan favorite in the Tunica region since making his pro debut in 2011 at the age of 17. The crowd was cheering wildly throughout the bout as the 18-year old fighter controlled the action with his superior hand speed, boxing ability and defense. In the sixth and final round, the sold out crowd was on their feet when Hernandez-Harrison appeared on the verge of stopping the wily 21-fight veteran. With the dominating 60-54 shutout victory, Hernandez-Harrison improves his record to 13-0, with 8 KOs.

Wilder: Price couldn’t even beat an out of shape Thompson

By Michael Collins: Deontay Wilder, one of the more promising heavyweights in the division, found it interesting that the highly hyped British heavyweight David Price (15-1, 13 KO’s) couldn’t get past a less than his best 41-year-old Tony Thompson (37-3, 25 KO’s) last Saturday night at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England.

Thompson, for whatever reason, came into the fight looked fat around the midsection and weighing a career high of 262 lbs. It didn’t matter because all it took from Thompson was a right hook to the side of Price’s head in the 2nd round to KO the big 6’8” Brit, and send shock waves through the boxing world.

Fury wants Thompson after Cunningham bout

fury67 By Jeff Sorby: Heavyweight Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KO’s) has a fight coming up on April 20th against American Steve Cunningham (25-5, 12 KO’s) at Madison Square Garden in New York, but once that fight is out of the way, Fury is targeting the 6’5” heavyweight contender Tony Thompson (37-3, 25 KO’s) for a fight this year.

Fury wasn’t happy at learning that Thompson had knocked out David Price in the 2nd round last Saturday night, and Fury wants to KO Thompson to avenge Price’s loss, as both Price and Fury are from Britain.

Fury said on his twitter “I’m gonna spank this little b*** Tony Thompson all around the ring! Granddaddy is getting it for KOing Price!! I’ll get him for u @davidprice. Thompson is old as s*** & been KO’d two times! Ill KO him after Cunningham. Tony Thompson where are you? You’re getting it after your mate Cunningham along with any other American heavyweight.”

Thompson felt that Price and his team saw him as an old man, and were thinking of just using him to look good in front of Price’s fans.

Thompson realized he had a good opportunity to pull a surprise on the 6’8” Price, and that’s exactly what he did by clipping him with a hard shot in the 2nd round that effectively stopped Price by knocking him down. Price got up but the fight was stopped without the action resuming.

Matthysse vs. Peterson possible for May 18th in Washington, DC

By Bill Phanco: Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is thinking of matching IBF light welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (31-1-1, 16 KO’s) against WBC interim light welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse (33-2, 31 KO’s) on May 18th in Washington, DC, according to RingTV.

It would be an all Golden Boy match-up, and an easy fight to make because of that. Peterson, 29, recently signed with Golden Boy in hopes of getting the opportunity to face their top light welterweights Amir Khan, Danny Garcia and Matthysse.

Garcia and Khan are obviously high on Peterson’s list due to their popularity, but a fight against Matthysse is still a very good one for Peterson.

Audley Harrison stops Rossy, Wins Prizefighter Heavyweights tourney

By Jeff Sorby: Former 2000 Olympic gold medalist Audley Harrison (31-6, 22 KO’s) found the fountain of youth tonight in winning the heavyweight Prizefighter tournament by stopping American Derric Rossy (27-6, 14 KO’s) in the 2nd round at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, in London, United Kingdom.

Harrison stopped Rossy in the 2nd round after drilling him with a left hand that put him down in a delayed reaction. Rossy was also dropped in the 1st round by a left hand from Harrison. Before making it to the finals, Rossy had beaten Ian Lewison and Travis Walker by close three round decisions by landing shots and then smothering them so that they couldn’t get their own shots off. But against Harrison, Rossy was out of his element due to Harrison’s accurate left hand punching.

He wasn’t bothered by Rossy’s head movement, crouching style or his attempts to come forward to clinch and throw punches. Harrison was able to catch Rossy over and over again with lefts when he would try to initiate.

In Harrison’s other two fights in the tourney, he stopped Claus Bertino in the 1st with a hard left hand, and he beat Martin Rogan by a lopsided three round decision.

Tony Thompson destroys David Price in 2nd round TKO!

price44 By Kevin Chittenden: British heavyweight David Price’s once promising career is in tatters tonight after he was stopped in the 2nd round by 41-year-old Tony Thompson (37-3, 25 KO’s) in Liverpool, England.

This was a fight that the 6’8” Price was supposed to win with ease, but instead he ended up getting clipped by a right hand by Thompson and put down on the canvas in the 2nd round. Price got up but his legs failed him as he walked around on Bambi legs while the referee checked him over.

The referee stopped the fight without letting Price get a chance to see if he could survive the round. While some boxing fans might feel that Price deserved a chance, the truth it he wouldn’t have lasted more long with Thompson teeing off on him.
