Haye Vs. Fury News – Haye’s Trainer Adam Booth: “10,000 Tickets Sold In Three Hours”
Heavyweight rivals David Haye and Tyson Fury continued their war of words on Sky Sports’ Ringside show tonight, just an hour or so after their heated press conference in London. The fight, one that Fury promoter Mick Hennessey is calling a “super-fight,” all set for Manchester on September 28th, is sure to attract a massive audience – with the pre-bout build-up already proving hugely entertaining.
Malik Scott ready to face Chisora on July 20th in London, UK
SHERMAN OAKS, CA (July 10, 2013) – As the hit song by English music superstar Sir Elton John goes, “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.” Now forty years after that title rocked the Billboard charts, Malik “King” Scott is bent on living up to that declaration when he takes on former British and Commonwealth champion and former world title challenger Dereck “Del Boy” Chisora on Saturday night, July 20th at London’s Wembley Arena.
Fury says he’s doing Haye a favor by fighting him
Undefeated Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s) seems to think he’s doing former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) by choosing to fight him on September 28th at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK. Fury feels that the 32-year-old Haye didn’t have a lot of options for his next fight until he came along and agreed to fight him.
Chisora getting ready for Malik Scott
Dereck Chisora will have the backing of the Grenadier Guards when he takes on top American challenger Malik Scott at Wembley Arena on Saturday 20th July.
The London puncher faces one of the biggest challenges of his career against the unbeaten Scott and knows that a victory will elevate him closer to a second world title shot.
In the build up to the fight Chisora and his trainer Don Charles met with the Army Boxers at the 1st Grenadier Guards gym at Lille Barracks in Aldershot and put the soldiers through a power-packed training session ahead of their own Inter-Company Boxing Championships.
Arum wants Terence Crawford vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa on October 5th Cotto card
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is reportedly hoping to put together a fight between #1 WBA, lightweight contender Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-0, 16 KO’s), and his own fighter #1 WBO, Terence Crawford (21-0, 16 KO’s) as the co-feature on the Miguel Cotto vs. Delvin Rodriguez card on October 5th, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.
The Cotto-Rodriguez fight isn’t done yet, but that’s the one they’re working on putting together for Cotto.
Arum said to Dan Rafael at ESPN “I’d like to make him [Crawford] with Gamboa.”
Tyson Fury signs contract for Haye fight
25-year-old heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s) has reportedly signed his portion of the contract to face former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) on September 28th at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. Haye already signed his portion of the contract earlier this week for their mega clash.
Fury said on his twitter: “Have this b**ch, Haye! I’ve signed!”
Fury, #5 WBA, #6 WBO, #11 IBF, is now going to have to find a way to beat the much faster and much stronger Haye. It doesn’t look good for Fury no matter how you look at it. Haye, #1 WBA, #4 WBO, #6 WBC, is the superior fighter in every category you can think of. Haye has the speed, power, mobility, defense and experience going for him.
Provodnikov agrees to face Mike Alvarado on October 19th
Welterweight Ruslan Provodnikov (22-2, 15 KO’s) has agreed to fight WBO interim light welterweight champion Mike Alvarado (34-1, 23 KO’s) on October 19th in a fight that could take place in Alvarado’s home city of Denver, Colorado. HBO would be televising the fight.
Now they’re waiting on Top Rank promoter Bob Arum to get his fighter Alvarado to agree to the deal. It’s not likely that Alvarado will turn it down, because he doesn’t have a ton of options right now in terms of fights.
Carson Jones: If Brook dies, he dies
#8 IBF Carson Jones (35-9-3, 25 KO’s) must have pulled out some of his old Rocky tapes to get one Ivan Drago’s lines to use on #1 IBF, welterweight contender Kell Brook (29-0, 19 KO’s) at their final press conference to hype their rematch on Saturday night at the Craven Park Stadium, Yorkshire, UK.
WBC gives permission for Adonis Stevenson v. Tavoris Cloud fight to go ahead
The World Boxing Council has given permission for WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (21-1, 18 KO’s) to make a voluntary defense against former IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud (24-1, 19 KO’s), according to Steve Kim.
This means that that the 35-year-old Stevenson can bypass his mandatory title defense against challenger Tony Bellew. I’m sure Bellew won’t like this news because he had been hoping that he’d be next in line to face Stevenson after he beat Isaac Chilemba recently to become his mandatory.
