Q – Okay, great. First of all, I’d like you to ask Canelo, he’s coming back to another city in Texas in Houston when he was in San Antonio a couple years ago and he had that huge crowd for the Austin Trout fight. I want to know how pumped up is he because by all accounts, you’re going to have another crowd similar in size in a different city in Houston for this fight. How much does he feel that love from his fans, particularly the Mexicans and the Mexican-Americans and get him motivated, let’s say, for this kind of fight?

Freddie Roach : I Want His Gloves Checked – Mayweather v Pacquiao

It would seem that the consensus among fight fans is that Manny Pacquiao is going to be up against it when he steps between the ropes to fight Floyd Mayweather on Saturday, and trainer Freddie Roach is determined to ensure there are no unfair advantages, telling Mlive.com that he want’s Floyd’s custom made Grant gloves checked thoroughly.

Roach said; “Grant is doing his gloves and they’re all custom (hand) made. I’d like to know what he’s putting in those gloves and what materials they are made with.”

“I’m a little concerned about the custom made gloves that Floyd’s going to wear.”

Klitschko vs Jennings, a view from the cheap seats…

From Tuesday night brawls at the legendary Blue Horizon, to throw downs at the Barclays Center, I have attended boxing matches at nearly every venue of note in the northeast. Yet for all of the live fights I have witnessed, I had never had the privilege of attending a fight at the Mecca of boxing, Madison Square Garden. That all changed on a whim Saturday night, when at the last minute I scored a pair of tickets to watch Bryant “by-by” Jennings challenge Wladimir Klitschko for all the marbles in the heavyweight division. As with any last minute ticket acquisition my choices were limited, and I found myself in the 200 section surrounded by Klitscko’s faithful, who were adorned in blue and yellow, the colors of the flag of Ukraine. Each time Wladimir’s chiseled features graced the big screen over the ring, the packed house would explode, with the loudest cheers emanating from the throng occupying the upper decks, of which I was now a part.

Pacman vs Money: Who will have a leg up

It seems everyone will be tuning in May 2nd to the mega fight between Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr. The fight has generated wide spread interest far beyond mere crossover appeal. Everyone is curious. People who generally aren’t interested in sports are talking about this one. They sense something special is about to happen and want in. They search for friends or acquaintances, hoping to find someone who will be buying the PPV, so they can impose upon them. They’re intrigued by the PPV cost which is close to one hundred bucks! What makes it worthy of such big bucks they wonder? They want in. They want bragging rights,”Come on”, they say, “Let me watch. I’ll bring the chips!”

Mayweather Snr. Says Floyd Should Retire Post-Pac-Man

Once he has fulfilled his Showtime TV deal, Floyd Mayweather Snr has spoken out to the Telegraph in Britain to suggest his son should retire very shortly.

Mayweather Jr, on fight 5 of his 6-fight TV deal, plans to do just that in September, win or lose against Pacquiao, although losing certainly isn’t an option for “little Floyd” in his quest to become “The best ever.”

Chavez Jr Calling People Out Already??? “Desperate” To Redeem Himself?

On twitter this morning I came across a tweet from Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (48-2-1, 32ko) that simply read,

“@jcchavezjr vs @MartinMurrayBox next?”

It took me by surprise anyway! Barely 10 days on from the embarrassing “quit” episode against Andrzej Fonfara, and the scathing online criticism of his performance, Chavez Jr seems to be seeking a chance at retribution.

Brits will be more than familiar with Martin Murray (29-2-1, 12ko), who we last saw bravely take GGG 11 rounds before finally being stopped. American’s will most probably be aware of him from his two world title challenges.

David Haye Arrested Over £341,000 “Bounced Cheque”

British former unified cruiserweight and WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has been arrested in the Islamic state of Dubai over claims a £341,000 cheque for a property he is building bounced.

Numerous media outlets in the UK are reporting that the “Hayemaker” has had his passport seized, which would explain his no-show at a BAMMA MMA event at the weekend. 168lb Super Middleweight champion Carl Froch filled in instead.

Composed under pressure – Ali outboxes Santana over 10

Brooklyn native Sadam Ali successfully answered some serious questions in Madison Square Garden, New York last night on his way to securing a unanimous decision over the rampaging Francisco Santana, to continue his charge up the 147lbs division.

Scores at ringside confirmed the general consensus that it was the superior boxing ability and slick movement from the home fighter that was much preferred, reading 97-93, 97-93 and 100-90.

Ali – subject to intense pressure throughout – boxed superbly off the back foot at times in the face of Santana’s relentless pressure and persistent will to drag the young New Yorker into a war.

Freddie Roach “Khan Hasn’t The Balls For Mayweather Or Pacquiao”

Amir Khan has hit back at ex-trainer Freddie Roach who said that the British fighter maybe lacks the intestinal fortitude to square off against either of the world’s two premier 147lb fighters, in Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Roach, who once said that Manny had Khan down 4 times in sparring, is arguably bitter over the Bolton man’s decision to “defect” to Virgil Hunter after his crushing defeat to Danny Garcia back in 2012.

He said of Khan; “Amir should be calling out my man or Mayweather, but he doesn’t have the balls”
