British IBO Champion Chris Eubank Jr. (25-1-0,19 KOs) and Turkish Avni Yildirim (16-0, 10 KOs) and their respective teams fought with words at an overheated press conference before Saturday’s Ali Trophy quarter-final clash at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Halle.

Bernard Hopkins of Golden Boy says the rematch between Saul Canelo Alvarez and Gennady “GGG” Golovkin will be a “reincarnation of the Andre “SOG” Ward vs. Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev fight. Canelo will be Ward, and Golovkin will be Kovalev, says Hopkins.
Hopkins says Canelo (49-1-2, 34 KOs) will learn from the first fight against Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs), and he’ll use what he learned to expose him as not being the “boogeyman” that everyone fears.
Canelo didn’t look so great in fighting to a 12-round draw against Golovkin on September 16 in a fight televised on HBO pay-per-view at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Loeffler confident Canelo-GGG fight happens in 2018
Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions is optimistic that he can put together a rematch between middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) for May 5 on Cinco de Mayo next year.
Loeffler says Canelo and Golovkin both wants the fight, so he feels there’s a good chance that it takes place next year.
Ricky Burns: I’m not losing to Anthony Crolla
Ricky Burns (41-6-1, 14 KOs) isn’t even considering the chance that he will lose this Saturday night to former WBA lightweight champion Anthony Crolla (31-6-3, 13 KOs) in their 12 round scheduled fight at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.
Burns sees himself as above the 30-year-old Crolla in the talent department, so he doesn’t foresee any problems with getting the victory on Saturday.

Heavyweight legend George Foreman has taken to social media to issue a challenge to movie star- mixed martial arts fighter Steven Segal. Foreman wrote how the fight would be open-rules with he using boxing and Segal using “whatever.” Foreman’s challenge calls for a ten-round bout in Las Vegas. So far no dates have been mentioned and there has been no reply from Segal, at 65, three years the younger man.
Kal Yafai wants Roman Gonzalez after Ishida fight
WBA World super flyweight champion Kal Yafai (22-0, 14 KO) already has his sights set on fighting fading superstar Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (46-2, 38 KOs). Yafai, 28, has a title defense to get out of the way against #1 WBA Sho Ishida (24-0, 13 KOs) this month on October 28 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
