This August’s huge Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor crossover Super Fight sure has started a trend. In light of the staggering amount of money and interest the Boxing Vs. MMA fight generated, a number of other fighters from both disciplines are set to follow suit.
Marco Huck set to continue fighting – as a heavyweight
Last seen losing via tenth-round TKO to Oleksandr Usyk in the cruiserweight WBSS tournament, former long-reigning WBO 200 pound champ Marco Huck says he is not finished and that he can be expected to be back in the ring next year – possibly up at heavyweight.
Groves and Cox make weight!
WBA Super World Super Middleweight champion George Groves (75,8 kg) (26-3, 19 KOs) and Jamie Cox (76,1 kg) (24-0,13 KOs) are ready for Saturday’s Ali Trophy quarter-final clash at The SSE Arena, Wembley in London. (Photo credit: World Boxing Super Series)
“I have worked hard all my life to become a world champion,” said Groves.
“Now I will work hard to win the Muhammad Ali Trophy. I am in great shape, I have great experience and I know exactly what it takes to win this tournament. I can’t wait for Saturday night.”
Jermell Charlo vs. Erickson Lubin: High Risk Rarity
A tantalizing junior middleweight championship matchup between Jermell Charlo and Erickson Lubin might as well be the main event on Showtime’s Tripleheader this Saturday. Both Americans are undefeated, Charlo entering his prime and Lubin isn’t far off considering Erickson just turned 22 at the beginning of October. Nowadays (generally speaking) it’s a rarity for young fighters to risk losing their ‘0’ this early in a promising career. It’s a breath of fresh air so let’s hope the media and fans appreciate it instead of downgrading one of them at the end. Especially if it’s Erickson, a phenom who is taking a major step up in class challenging Jermell for his 154-pound strap.
Malignaggi: A fight with Conor McGregor would do 1.25 – 1.5M PPV Buys
Paulie Malignaggi is confident that Conor McGregor’s best pay day lies in boxing and with a fight with himself.
Speaking to The SportsBar Life podcast, Malignaggi, a former two division world champion, explains why a fight with him and McGregor would make the most financial sense for the two division Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) title holder and that he is avoiding his biggest payday by not fighting him.
“This is a guy who is going to avoid major money by not fighting me in boxing. At the end of the day, you are never going to make Mayweather money ever again. But because the boxing ring has the Ali Act in the United States, you keep more of a percentage of your money in boxing than you will in Mixed Martial Arts in the United States.”

Eubank Jr.: Groves’ experience gives him the edge against green Cox
Chris Eubank Jr. is predicting a victory for George Groves (26-3, 19 KOs) over his Ali Trophy quarter-final opponent Jamie Cox (24-0, 13 KOs) on Saturday at The SSE Arena, Wembley in London.
Eubank Jr. earned his spot in the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series when he dominated and knocked out Turkish Avni Yildirim in round three in Stuttgart last weekend.
