Pascal: ‘Errors Have Been Corrected’

Former light heavyweight world champion Jean Pascal, has stated that he has fixed the flaws that cost him his first fight with WBA/WBO/IBF 175 champion Sergey Kovalev, and that his hook up with esteemed trainer Freddie Roach will be the difference maker in their Jan. 30 rematch.

Pascal was stopped by Kovalev in 8 rounds back in March before going on to a controversial decision victory over Yunieski Gonzalez in July, yet claims that now he has the wisdom of Roach in the corner, he will be ready to effect a different strategy when Kovalev returns to his Quebec backyard next month.

Lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has responded to some of the scathing criticism of him in the British press with an admirable insouciance, telling his detractors in his now customary style to, ‘suck my balls.’

Fury has been under the kosh from large swathes of the wider mainstream press in the UK for the perceived offensive nature of his views on religion and sexuality in particular, though large sections of sports writers have also ludicrously attempted to play down the magnitude of his benchmark achievement in ending the championship tenure of the long-dominant Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf 8 days ago.

Brooklyn’s Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) won the “Battle For Brooklyn,” a matchup of top middleweights facing off in the prime of their career in their hometown.

Jacobs destroys Quillin in 1st round TKO

(Photo credit: Esther Lin/SHOWTIME) Former WBO 160lb champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (32-1-1, 23 KOs) tasted defeat for the first time in his career on Saturday night in getting blasted out by the hard hitting WBA “regular” middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) in a 1st round TKO defeat in a fight between two Brooklyn natives at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Jacobs landed a crushing right hand to the head that clearly hurt Quillin, who reacted poorly by backing up to the ropes and attempting to fight back. Sending blood in the water, Jacobs went after the badly hurt Quillin and unloaded everything but the kitchen sink until referee Harvey Dock stepped in and stopped the fight at 1:25 of the round after Jacobs staggered Quillin with a big right to the head.

DeGale: Happy to Fight GGG at 168

IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale, has stated that he would happily fight avoided middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, should the big-hitting Kazakh decide to make the jump up to 168.

DeGale most recently defended his title against Lucian Bute in Canada, in a gutsy display that he hopes leads to a unification fight with WBC 168 champion Badou Jack, though for all the perceived faults the gold medal winning British Olympian has out of the ring, one thing he will do is fight anybody inside of it – including the avoided Golovkin – displaying a refreshing attitude in today’s often fragmented, ‘cherry-picking’ climate.

Wilder is set to box another voluntary defence of his title in January, and is indirectly embroiled in the ‘Czar’ Glazkov/IBF/threat-to-strip Fury saga that has been well publicized this week (see previous articles)- a saga that saw [IBF #1] Glazkov passing on a shot at the American WBC titlist in favour of a fight for the [vacant] IBF belt that looks set to be stripped from new lineal champion Tyson Fury, for immediately rematching Wladimir Klitschko as contractually bound, instead of fighting Glazkov.

Dear Fleet Street Fox, I am forwarding this article in response to your article on Tyson Fury, dated the 30th November 2015. I watched the fight itself, and saw one of the statistically greatest heavyweight champions of all time, outmanoeuvred by a young man from Manchester. I read a lot of commentary on the fight over the following few days, and the consensus was that it was a fairly boring fight with little action, but still one in which a young fighter got his tactics spot on in neutralising a vaunted legend.

Your article perplexed me. With this piece, I want to counter every single disrespectful opinion or incorrect statement that you forced into your article.

Brook/Khan Speculation Intensifies

IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook will potentially fight bitter domestic rival Amir Khan next summer according to promoter Eddie Hearn, though not before a mandatory defence against little-known Canadian Kevin Bizier, which has been ordered by the sanctioning body.

Hearn took to his social media accounts this week and warned fans to log a summer ’16 dust-up between the pair of Brits, before then also warning of the Bizier mandatory, which is going to be another tough sell for the Sheffield fighter, especially in the UK where fans are keen to see a step-up in competition, meaning he will potentially travel to North America for it.

Quillin vs. Jacobs: Brooklyn’s finest battle at the Barclays

This Saturday night, live on Showtime, Peter Quillin and Daniel Jacobs do battle for Brooklyn bragging rights. Quillin is the more experienced fighter inside the ring and a slight favorite.
