The HBO telecast kicks off live from Montreal’s Bell Centre when Isaac Chilemba takes on Vasily Lepikhin in a scheduled 12-round light heavyweight contest.

In the co-feature, heavyweights Vyacheslav Glazkov and Steve Cunningham square off for 12 rounds.

The main event of the evening, a 12-round light heavyweight championship bout, features knockout artist Sergey Kovalev defending his titles against Jean Pascal in his hometown.

After a successful debut last Saturday night in primetime on NBC, the (PBC) Premier Boxing Champions will make its Spike TV debut this Friday night for what will become a monthly boxing series on the network. The main event features a classic back-against-the-wall matchup that should produce an entertaining scrap. The card will take place in Ontario, California, from the Citizens Business Bank Arena. The co-feature matches former welterweight champion Shawn Porter versus hungry contender Roberto Garcia.

Andre Berto was an HBO sweetheart after he climbed the ranks from prospect, to contender, and eventually champion. Every step of the way he looked every bit the part sporting elite hand speed and plenty of punching power.

HBO Latino® Boxing: Vargas Beats Tomlinson

The NABF and WBO International Junior Lightweight Championship between Francisco “El Bandido” Vargas (22-0-1, 16 KOs) and “Wild” Will Tomlinson (23-2-1, 13 KOs) featured a night full of unbeaten stars and action-packed knockouts, live on HBO Latino Boxing from the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas.

In the main event, Vargas and Tomlinson faced off in a bloody match as both fighters suffered lacerations to the face and took hard punches to the body. The fight continued on with excitement in every round, each fighter refusing to give up to the other. In an eighth round technical knockout Vargas retained the NABF and WBO International Junior Lightweight Champion.

Photos by Tiffany Lam – Today at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao held the kickoff presser for what many are calling the fight of the century. Team Pacquiao arrived and hit the red carpet around 11:00am. Mayweather was scheduled to arrive at noon, but showed up a fashionable 40 minutes late. The official press conference started around 1:45pm pacific time and was aired live on ESPN SportsCenter; with HBO announcer Michael Buffer introducing Pacquiao, followed by Showtime announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr introducing Mayweather.

Selan B. (Phoenix, AZ): You made a point on FaceBook the other day about the Mayweather v Pacquiao fight that I’d like you to revisit. Could you elaborate on your thoughts regarding the magnitude of this fight and the legacy of the fighters?

Vivek W. (ESB): In a nutshell, when we look at this fight, this is an event on the scale of nothing we’ve ever seen before, and arguably, nothing we will ever see again in this lifetime. Some have noted that the fight is “a few years too late”. My response is that the fight has reached this apex as a result of the fact that it did come this late. When this bout was initially proposed, the fighters were looking at proposed purses in the $30M dollar range. Floyd Mayweather found a way to land a deal that nets that every night out. When he said he wanted $100M for this bout, we said he was “talking stupid”. He now stands in place to earn a hair below that mark ($180M approx).
