Abraham let Stieglitz bombard him for three rounds in their 2nd fight until the bout was halted in the 4th. From what I could see, Abraham didn’t look mentally into the fight. Even if the bout had been allowed to continue on, it was clear that he was going to lose. Abraham looked like someone that didn’t want to fight anymore.
CHICAGO (Feb. 28) – Boxing has arrived to “The Windy City” as Chicago will be the site of one of the spring’s most intriguing showdowns, when FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes brings the Golden Boy Live! series to the UIC Pavilion on Monday, April 14 for the 10-round junior lightweight bout between unbeaten Ronny Rios and fellow prospect Andrew “Chango” Cancio.
“This type of matchup is what the Golden Boy Live! series was created for and in Ronny Rios vs. Andrew Cancio we could be seeing a fight where the winner goes on to eventually become a world champion,” said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. “Both of these young men know what’s at stake in this fight and it’s going to be a good one.”
With his mind set only in his bout against former world champion Daniel Ponce de Leon, the former bantamweight and featherweight world titlist Juan Manuel “Juanma” Lopez worked this afternoon for the media as part of his training for the show that will headline on March 15 his countryman Danny “Swift” Garcia defending his WBA and WBC junior welter weight belts against Mauricio Herrera at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon, in a presentation of Golden Boy Promotions and Swift Promotions in association with PR Best Boxing Promotions ( PRBBP ), which will be broadcast on Showtime.
Dallas, TX – Boxing greats and football greats in attendance, great corporate sponsors, great prizes, great fights, great food, and great fun made the extraordinary A NIGHT TO FIGHT gala charity event on Thursday, February 27th at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas a fight night to remember. The UP HOPE Foundation and Standing 8 Promotions held this “full-of-greats” event to fight for a truly GREAT cause, THE RING OF HOPE BOXING CLUB, which mentors at risk youth in Dallas through boxing. Ring of Hope was founded by The URHOPE Foundation in 2010, and is one of the Dallas Leadership Foundation’s (DLF) many programs developed to help facilitate the re-development of disadvantaged Dallas communities.
Both Chavez and Vera weighed in at approximately 167.5 pounds, with both men looking strong and having more than enough time to replenish and rehydrate, due to the unusually early 2PM EST weigh in time. After the former WBC Middleweight title holder successfully made weight, Junior held a giant replica of a voided cashiers check made out to Bryan Vera to the sum of $250,000.00.
Chavez Junior had very little to say after the official weigh in concluded.
Chavez’ team members held aloft a giant sized void penalty cheque, in reference to the fine Chavez would have had to pay had he done as some expected and came in heavy. Instead, Chavez has clearly worked hard, his body looking hard, his conditioning looking excellent. Looks can of course be deceiving, but if Chavez fights as good as he looked on the scale, it could be bad news for Vera; a fighter many felt should have been awarded the decision after the first action-packed fight between he and the Mexican star.
