Using his hand speed and punching power advantage, #1 WBC 122lb contender Ray Vargas (29-0, 22 KOs) boxed his way to a 12 round majority decision tonight over #2 WBC Gavin McDonnell (16-1-2, 4 Kos) to win the vacant WBC super bantamweight title at the Hull Ice Arena in Hull, England. It was a nice effort from both fighters. McDonnell came up short based on the speed and pinpoint accuracy of the 26-year-old Mexican Vargas.

Justin Deloach Stuns Chris Pearson With Second Round KO
Justin “The Chosen One” DeLoach scored a shocking upset over Chris “Young King” Pearson in a second-round knockout victory on Friday in the main event of ShoBox: The New Generation on SHOWTIME in front of a sellout crowd from Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula.
DeLoach, (17-1, 9 KOs), of Augusta, Ga. continued his impressive winning streak with his seventh straight victory as he claimed the vacant USBA super welterweight title with the win, knocking out Pearson (14-2, 10 KOs, WSB 3-0, 1 KO) at 2:30 of the second round.
Results: Eleider Alvarez stops Lucian Bute
Eleider Alvarez (22-0, 11 KOs) had too much for 36-year-old Lucian Bute (32-4-1, 25 KOs) tonight in halting him in round 5 of a fairly one-sided fight on Friday evening at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City. The win for Eleider locks him in as the WBC mandatory challenger for WBC 175lb champion Adonis Stevenson.

Exciting super featherweight Dat Nguyen (20-3, 6 KOs) dropped and stopped previously unbeaten Miguel Flores (21-1, 9 KOs) in the sixth-round of the main event of Premier Boxing Champions TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS on FS1 and BOXEO DE CAMPEONES on FOX Deportes Tuesday night from Silver Street in Houston, Texas.

Broner edges Granados
Adrien Broner and Adrian Granados battled in a close, back-and-forth main event Saturday on SHOWTIME, with the four-division world champion Broner eking out a split decision victory from Cintas Center at Xavier University in his hometown of Cincinnati.

The fight, which was scored 97-93 Broner, 97-93 Granados and 96-94 Broner, was a tale of accuracy vs activity. Granados (18-5-2, 11 KOs), a native of Chicago, was the busier fighter, throwing 683 compared to 403 total punches for Broner (33-2, 24 KOs). But “The Problem” connected at a 41 percent rate, compared to just 21 percent for his opponent.

Broner reportedly wanted the fight to be a 10 round bout rather than a 12 rounder.

Lamont Peterson (35-3-1, 18 KOs) emerged victorious on Saturday night in handing WBA ‘regular’ welterweight champion David Avanesyan (22-2-1, 11 KOs) a clear 12 round unanimous decision at the Cintas Center, Cincinnati, Ohio. It was a good performance from Peterson, who came into the fight having been out of the ring since 2015.

Roy Jones Jr. took care of his over-matched opponent Bobby Gunn tonight in defeating him by an 8th round TKO in a fight that looked more like an exhibition bout than a real one at the Chase Center in Wilmington, DE. The fight was brought to a halt in the 8th. Gunn’s trainer stopped the fight at the start of round 8. The fight should have been stopped immediately after the 7th, as Gunn looked hurt and in bad shape.

Cruz made a fight of it, but he didn’t have the weapons to compete on an even playing field with the 26-year-old Easter Jr.
