The bout between the two Brooklyn natives was a major win for Jacobs, giving him significant reason to claim “top dog” status in the burgeoning discussion on who represents the class of the middleweight division.
Jack Culcay retained his interim WBA World Light Middleweight title with a unanimous points decision against the previously unbeaten Dennis Hogan last night at the Inselparkhalle in Hamburg, Germany.
A solid performance from Culcay proved too much for Hogan, who despite his best efforts was outclassed by the German fighter who landed the cleaner and more decisive punches.

Brooklyn’s Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) won the “Battle For Brooklyn,” a matchup of top middleweights facing off in the prime of their career in their hometown.

World rated heavyweight despatched Daniel Martz with a blistering right hand in front of a vocal Claudelands Arena in the very first round of their scheduled 12 round contest.
Tyson Fury scored the biggest upset of the year as he dethroned Wladimir Klitschko’s dominate ten-year reign as the best fighter in the heavyweight division, en route to a twelve round, unanimous decision by two scores of 115-112 and one score of 116-111, at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany, in front of 55,000 mostly pro-Klitschko fans. Fury improved to 25-0, 18 KOs and with the victory, gained the IBO, WBA, IBF, and WBO world title belts. Klitschko dropped to 64-4, 53 KOs and lost for the first time in 23 bouts – a streak that has spanned over eleven and a half years.
Former WBO/WBA/IBF heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, has confirmed that he intends to activate his rematch clause with Tyson Fury, and attempt to win back the titles taken by the Brit in style last night in Dusseldorf.
Despite Fury being a mandatory challenger, a rematch clause [unusually] existed in the contract, and the 39 year old former champion says he plans to exercise it, though gave Fury his due credit for the win, admitting the 6’9″ star was extremely quick for his size.
After 18 successful title defenses Wladimir surprisingly lost number 19 against mandatory challenger Tyson Fury. It is the 4th loss in his 68th professional career fight. Over 12 rounds the Britain earned his place as the new IBF/IBO World Heavyweight Champion and WBA/WBO Superchampion. Wladimir was never able to find the right strategy to harm the agile Fury.
