The most highly anticipated boxing match of 2016 is just around the corner. On November 19 undefeated light heavyweight world champion Sergey ‘Krusher’ Kovalev (30-0-1) will defend the title against undefeated former super middleweight champion Andre ‘S.O.G.’ Ward (30-0-0). The bout will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and features two of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, both of whom are in (or very close to being in) their respective absolute primes.

Most observers agree that this is the best fight that can be made in all of boxing. Unlike last year’s disappointing mega bout between superstars Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao, where the two famous boxers did not face each other until both were well past their best fighting days, Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward are at their best right now. This is a 50-50 type of pick’em fight, and the winner will likely become the universally crowned pound for pound king, filling the void left by Mayweather following his retirement last September.

Kovalev won the WBO light heavyweight title from Nathan Cleverly back in August 2013. He has since defended the title 8 times, and he also unified the WBA and IBF versions of the light heavyweight crown when he scored an impressive shutout victory against then unified champion, living legend Bernard Hopkins. On the other side, Ward was a long reigning 168 pound champion who won the very prestigious Super Six tournament. Ward is a former Olympic gold medalist, and he holds many notable victories in the professional ranks against the likes of Mikkel Kessler, Chad Dawson, and Carl Froch.

Who will win this epic showdown that provides boxing fans with one of the most intriguing clash of styles in recent memory. Will Andre Ward’s impeccable skills win the day? Or will the devastating power of Kovalev lead him to victory. This edition of Rummy’s Corner attempts to answer that question and more while exploring several keys to victory for both fighters, and providing Rummy’s utterly worthless official fight prediction.
